Speaker 1:

Hello, all you awesome people out there, welcome, or welcome back to Geek Visions Entertainment. I'm your host, as always, hoover, and we are back. Starting off yet another week here with a brand new episode of news drop is when we give you the news of whatever time period it has been since the last news drop. So I think our last one was a couple weeks ago. Um, I don't know, I just didn't get around to doing one. Uh, I was worried I wouldn't get this one done either. My little sister's birthday was yesterday. So I was like I don't know if I'm I couldn't gather my news articles the day before. I used to get them, get them together on Sunday, and then I, you know I would either record Sunday and then so I can edit it Monday, but typically I just record everything on Monday, monday, but typically I just record everything on Monday. So I was like, oh, I didn't get my stories. I might have to come a little later. But you know, we got it done. We found some stuff. Uh, it's, it's been, uh, this week is a little light, a little bit of a lighter week, so the stories aren't, they aren't too much, uh, but I decided just to get, just to gather up what was going on, what was there, and we go go and we gonna go over them here today. So that is what we got here for this episode of news. Y'all. Let's kind of go over a little bit about what we're gonna be talking about here today. Of course, on our film side, as always, we are going to be looking at the box office returns for this past weekend. Uh, we got some news on amazon primes, roadhouse 2 uh, a big update on, maybe, the future of night at the museum. Uh, we got surprise, uh, surprising news from I don't know if I'm saying this right niza 2 and about a us uh dub release. And then we got some news on legendary, maybe trying to uh get alliance gate studios.

Speaker 1:

On the video game side, we got a lot. We got quite a bit to talk about in the terms of subnautica 2, the developer and publisher of that. It's been a lot of shit going on with that, so we're gonna cover that. Um, maybe the potentially leaked news of xbox's uh, rog ally, maybe the price on it. Um, the fbi crack it down on some. Uh, nintendo switch 2 uh, uh, fraudulence. We we're going to take that out. We got our first, we got another. We got I'll say it first, I'll say it another. I contradicted myself. We got some news, some rare news on Judas coming from Ken Levine, and then, finally, we're going to be talking about the upcoming NBA 2K26.

Speaker 1:

On the TV side, we've got South Park dealing with some stream writing issues, scrubs, revival, we got a new update on emily and paris and also apple tv plus's murder bot, and then we close things off with our daytime emmy nominees. I remembered that was going on, so we're going to be talking about that here today. All right, but that is everything we're going to be talking about here on our news drop for this episode. So how's about we stop yapping? I keep saying that we're not stopping yapping, we're actually going to yap even more. But let's get right on into it as we talk about this news then shall we? All right? So y'all already know what's up.

Speaker 1:

Superman powers to 220 million global opening. Jurassic World Rebirth has reached five hundred thirty million, lilo Stitch is getting closer to one billion, and so we got our whole international box office results here today, all right. So we got the. We got the Monday. Oh, this, this is. This is why we do a Monday instead of on Sunday. We got the Monday update with the actuals on there, all right.

Speaker 1:

Dc, warner Brothers, superman flew a bit higher and Sunday's actuals reaching 220 million. Global start. Upward Shift is powered by Domestic, which came in at 125 million, while the international box office take remains set at 95 million. Also moving up the sunday's estimates, jurassic world rebirth is now at 532.7 globally overseas, topping the three century mark. Uh, to hit 300 million through yesterday. I'll be real tall.

Speaker 1:

I've not heard anything about the jurassic world rebirth movie. I haven't. I haven't seen or heard any kind of reviews, any word of mouth. I don't know if this thing has been good or bad in terms of like reception. I've heard nothing about it, john, no, I wasn't that too. Y'all know I wasn't too, uh, excited about it. But let's talk about what happened on what they initially initially posted for sunday. Uh, so we got superman, the first movie from the dcu reboot, uh, that $217 million to have for Sunday. But of course that ended up going up. We increased that to $220. Majority of business came from the domestic.

Speaker 1:

As the gun directed, wb tentpole experienced some not unexpected softness in parts of Asia, while such European majors as Germany, france, italy superseded in second place start as Jurassic World Rebirth tugged on its cape to retain the number one in its. So Jurassic World is doing pretty damn good internationally. I wonder what the issue was with the Asian market for Superman. Is Asia not fucking with Superman like that? Has it always struggled in that? I don't know. We might have to look some of that up. We have more on Superman in the meantime.

Speaker 1:

Uh, some hot takes on other titles in the marketplace uh, universal endless. Jurassic World Rebirth easily crossed 500 million this weekend. It's the fifth title to hit the milestone so far. Uh, 529.5 million through the day. Lilo and Stitch is now I guess it was like this close to becoming the first billion dollar movie of 2025. It is at 994.3 million through to through to today. I still think it's crazy that movie is making so much bank.

Speaker 1:

What's been like the? Y'all know I got my ad block around, so, oh no, she does not go. Uh, that shit is not gonna work pretty quick. Live action is the movies. Uh, box office. Yeah, how's the other movies been so far? Yeah, that shit don't take a minute. All right, all right, all right, all right, all right. So talk about a handful of opposite bases to be. Yeah, that shit, don't take a minute. Alright, alright, alright, alright, alright. Handful of opposite bases to be made as regards overseas, which are not clearly uh, uh defined. They initially saw a hundred plus million start, which ended up being 95, not the biggest guess, but why here I have. Okay, here's some theories. Front loading Superman is just a bit too American. There was nothing super about this movie's story.

Speaker 1:

In the major DC region of Latin America, superman was the number one movie with a 50% share, number one in 13 markets. Mexico was the second biggest. It was followed by the UK. It's a little bit higher than Guardians 3. Higher than Captain America, brave New World, which is, you know if, the whole 2 American thing. I guess that makes sense. It would be higher. China was the third biggest market for Superman. We had very low numbers earmarked here.

Speaker 1:

They said deadline, did it did? 6.6 million through Sunday. There is some superhero, there is some superhero fatigue. There is some superhero fatigue there. Uh, they went to beijing for the premiere, but without the talent. Travel still matters, but this one didn't move the needle. Hmm, um, yeah, I guess, I guess you know. Is it just the fact that superman is a little bit? Well, I mean, I guess, when you think about you know the political situation with our allies and shit, and you know china and the us have never been that cool, maybe just the fact that superman is so much of an american thing and they're just kind of just not interested in it at all. Yeah, and then brazil was a big dc market and was the fourth best starter for uh clark, this fray that made six million, number one on trek with aquaman joker, blah, blah, blah.

Speaker 1:

Okay, imax overall was 30.4 million globally, including 11 million coming from international markets. Top markets were uk, mexico, china, brazil, australia, france, korea, india, spain and japan. The biggest competition for Superman was Jurassic World, the sophomore session, so it's the second weekend. It added 68.1 million, 51% drop-off. That's actually not terrible. In 82 overseas markets the offshore Q&A rises to 297.3 million, with global at 529 million. So and that's dominating in China, uk, mexico, germany and Australia. Some notable states therein include China. A total after just two weeks top of the lifetime.

Speaker 1:

Tempoh, minecraft, doom, gladiator, captain America, blah blah, blah. All right, so they're just talking about how they are, but either way, superman is doing pretty. Superman is doing pretty darn well. That's a pretty good opening, especially the fact that it's doing pretty well here in the states is a pretty good, a pretty good sign. Now, unlike Jurassic World, I have actually heard a lot of positive about superman so far. I've actually heard that it's actually really good, despite of what these you know right wing red dumbasses are telling you about the movie being too woke. Like superman ain't always been a goddamn a legitimate immigrant. Like he's not the motherfucker, it's not legitimately an alien. It's sort of like, you know, physically he actually is an alien from a different world and then also being an alien from, you know, being out of the country. So this is a bunch of dumb ass motherfuckers trying to find some stuff to talk about. So, yeah, superman had a very good opening weekend. We'll see how it holds up in its second weekend. Um, I'm getting, I would hope, I would think they're hoping for it to do very well in its second weekend, especially the fact that after that, um, fantastic four is going to show up. This is going to give it some pretty stiff competition, so we'll have to see how it is.

Speaker 1:

This shit ain't loading because, you know, if you got your, if you got your fucking ad blocker on, the shit just does not want to fucking work at all. Now look, I turn it off and it's magic and it magically just fucking works. Just no issue at all, all right. So, okay, lion king is its highest. Which can you even count that lion king ain't even an actual fucking okay, lion King is it's highest. Can you even count that Lion King ain't even an actual live action movie? It's still all CG, just a different kind of animation, but it's the highest one. Was that? Damn, I don't do mass. Yeah, 500 million lifetime gross. So yeah, is it even. It's not even on here just yet. So shit, yeah, it's already. If this is true, I believe it's true. It's box office bojo, uh, but I don't know how updated it is, but uh, yeah, it seemed like lilo estes has already fucking jumped over a majority of the disney live action movies, so that's pretty cool. I'm surprised. They tend to do pretty damn well, all right. But yeah, that's it for our first story, all right. And our second story um, legendary is mulling.

Speaker 1:

The acquisition of lions gate studios. Legendary entertainment is eyeing a deal to acquire lions gate studios following the later company's recent separation from stars varieties confirmed, uh, the status of the two companies. Deal talks could not be learned. If completed, the deal will bring together legendary, which is behind the doom franchise and the monster verse um with films like john wick and the Games. Legendary first reached out about the potential partnership with Lionsgate following the split up from STARS in May. Reps are reached for comment, but they declined to respond. So Lionsgate, formerly separated from STARS on May 7th.

Speaker 1:

Lionsgate Studios is compromised of its TV and film production and distribution divisions and a content library with 20,000 plus titles, merged last year with Screaming Eagle Acquisition Corp I've never heard of that A special purpose acquisition company and became a separately traded entity. Legendary last year bought off the stake. Chinese conglomerate dally and a wander group owned the company. The pack left legendary and private uh equity firm. Apollo global is a lot of business talking this, uh, which acquired a stake of legendary in 2022 for 760 million dollars.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so legendary has released their minecraft movie, which was a massive hit, of course, uh, but they also own things like hangover, the dark night. That was a dark night, okay, uh. So, yeah, so they might be by online. So some of the some of the thieves figure out if uh figure out, if it's happening somewhere down the line, so we'll see. All right, uh, pretty big announcement here, uh, a24 is set to release the chinese animated blockbuster niza 2 in US theaters with Michelle Yeoh leading an English voice cast.

Speaker 1:

A rare collaboration between the indie distributor and China's steak-baked distributor, cmc Pictures, brings the top grossing animation to the top grossing animation ever to North American screens in August. So, yeah, this released a while ago, um, in china and it ended up becoming like the highest grossing animated movie ever. Uh, so yeah, so it's finally coming to the states. H4 and cmc are joining forces to bring an english language version of nezha to the run, the runaway animated box office station from china to theaters across north america this summer. The English version will feature Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh in a lead role. That's all we got so far. The film will open in the US, canada, australia and New Zealand on August 22nd and IMAX 3D and other premium large format screens. This is a rare theatrical collaboration between A24. As we all know, one of our catchphrases on this channel is that A24 makes good shit. So Nisar 2 became the world's top grossing animated film of all time finally was released earlier this year during China's Lunar New Year holiday, earned a massive $2.2 billion to passing inside out, which made one, inside out two, which made 1.7 billion. It's also the fifth highest grossing film worldwide overall, with nearly all of its revenue coming from the chinese mainland. And that that's that's especially y'all why a lot of these theaters view China as such a large market, because they go see movies Directed by Zhang Yu, aka Jiaozi Jiaozi I don't know if I'm saying it right.

Speaker 1:

The film is the long-awaited sequel to 2019's Nezha, a modern reimagining of the mythological Chinese folk hero that became a cultural phenomenon and milestone for Chinese animation. Nezha 2 builds on that legacy with the continuation of the saga, blending high-concept storytelling with even more impressive visual spectacle. He's honored to be part of Nezha 2, a landmark of Chinese animation and a powerful reminder of how universal our stories can be. Yosemite statement. Sharing this with audiences in English is such a joy, and I can't wait for everyone to experience the wonder, heart, spectacular artistry and magic of this film on the big screen. So the franchise story follows the rebellious young demigod Nezha, bored to mortal parents in fear by the heavens, as he wrestles with immense powers and a destiny to face an ancient force bent on humanity's destruction. Force bent on humanity's destruction. Uh, already a global fan favorite in its original chinese language release, nazar tomb ranks as the highest. Okay, they are the highest rated animation film of the year on raw tomatoes and one of 2025's top rated titles.

Speaker 1:

On letterbox uh, the a24 cmc partnership roles uh, will pose a lit. Is that is litmus? Is that how you say it? I thought it was litmus. Okay, yeah, that was okay, that is litmus. Ain't that what it is? A litmus test, is it litmus? Is that what it means? I thought it was litmus with an n. I thought it was a litmus with an N. So now they talk about, like acidity and alkali. What the fuck Is this a thing? Witness test, whatever? Okay, pose a litmus.

Speaker 1:

I'm not going to look into this to this downward now. This is gonna be on my mind all day for the us market's appetite for chinese storytelling, as well as the strategic potential of crossover animation with backed by a potential mix of talent and scale. I'm very interested to see how this would do in american theaters as well. So we'll have to wait and see, but if anybody's interested, just know this is going to be coming within the English voice cast to North American screens on August 22nd, so if you're looking forward to it, all right.

Speaker 1:

Next up, we have a night at the museum Movie is now in the works. Ben Stiller starting the original franchise by an exhibitionist at the Natural Museum of History coming to life 20th century, and Sean Levy's 21 Laps are revisiting Night at the Museum. The original franchise starred Ben Stiller as the overnight security guard at the National Museum of History where, thanks to an ancient Egyptian curse, the exhibits come alive at night. Rami Malek, robin Williams and Owen Wilson were among the actors who played reanimated exhibits. Oh, I keep getting ready to say exhibits, exhibits, exhibit, ex, whatever. How can they like exhibit?

Speaker 1:

The rapper, trippy Clancy has been tasked to write the new plot, but details for the reimagining are currently under wraps. Original film came out in 2006. It was followed by not at the museum battle it was a battle of the Smithsonian in 2009 and not at the museum secret of the tomb in 2014. All three films gross over 540 million in the domestic box office. And where I didn't, I didn't know. Sean levy directed those. Uh, levy and levy and dan levine will produce the new take for 221 last, with emily morris overseeing the project. And it was soon the final scene of stranger things, as read by wme.

Speaker 1:

Deadline broke the news. So we got a new night at the museum coming. It seemed like it's still very early, so we don't know too many details yet. Uh, so we don't know if ben stiller is going to come back to lead or if they're going to go with a brand new uh, a new casting for a main character. If this is going to be continuing on the events from the original trilogy, there's going to be a whole new story, maybe some kind of just a different set in the same world, but maybe it's a whole different museum. We'll have to wait and see. But yeah, if you're a fan of the night at the museum, just know we're getting more of it in the future. All right, and our final movie news here guy richie exits amazon mgm studios.

Speaker 1:

Roadhouse 2. Uh, we're hearing that guy richie is no longer directing roadhouse 2, the sequel sequel to Jake Gyllenhaal's 2024 movie that pulled in over 50 million viewers on Prime Video as one of the most watched picks on the OTT service. If this rolls to 80 million in the pick's first eight weeks, the reason was given as to why Ritchie unattached himself. It remains an important priority for Amazon and GM Studios, and the plan is to keep this production on track to shoot in the fall. A search for a new director is underway and sources say casting continues. Uh, jalen harbour reprises role as ex-cofc fighter dalton from a script by will will beal. He did bad boys, ride or die. Roadhouse 2 is in production, is produced by atlas entertainment's charlie rovan and alice garner and jalen hall's nine stars Productions with Josh McClellan executive producer.

Speaker 1:

The Doug Lehman 2024 movie Made in Florida, south by Southwest, reboot of the 89 classic film starring Patrick Swayze, dalton gets a job as a bouncer at the Florida Keys Roadhouse, only to discover that this paradise is all that, it seems. Ben Garazza, kelly Lynch and Sam Elliott also starred. They forgot about the most important person y'all, legitimately the UFC fighter dude, the Irish guy I can't remember his fucking name now. That's fucking funny dude. Guardians of the galaxy and dune star day patista is circling a role in roadhouse 2. Could it be the new villain? We'll have to see. Uh, so yeah, just no beginning. So guy ritchie is no longer directing roadhouse. So we'll find out who the new director is when they find and announce it themselves.

Speaker 1:

But it seems like they're going to be searching fairly wide. But they don't want to take too long because they still want to shoot this thing they still want to keep it on track, shoot in the fall and release what it's supposed to release. So there you go. All right, I think that's about it. What's this here? Is this new? Oh wait, hold on, there you go. Stupid ass shit. Hey, stanfield Star opposite Miles Taylor and Olympic picks weren't their games from Paramount Star at the work. Yeah, that's not too interesting to me. Don't sound too interesting to me? Alright, so that is it for our film portion.

Speaker 1:

Now we are going, of course, jump into the video games. Get out of here. Actually, let me refresh everything so I don't get these stupid ass ads popping up every goddamn where. All right, this is quite the story. I'm going to see if I can pull off links and stuff to kind of update it. But this has quite the story. I'm gonna see if I can put, if you know, pull off links and stuff to kind of update it. But this has been a story. This is going on for quite some time.

Speaker 1:

Uh, we're gonna see if they kind of explain what's going on with everything in this in this article, which I'm pretty sure they will. Let's see, all right, so the subnautica 2 saga just keeps getting messier as founders sue and publishers confirms leaks Ousted. Founders say they filed a lawsuit against Krafton. All right, so the mysterious firing of Subnautica 2 studio Unknown Worlds founders earlier this month keeps taking unexpected turns, and the latest is that the veteran game developers are now suing Krafton over the dismissals which occurred, with a $250 million payout on the line. Caught in the apparent crossfire of the game itself, the second most wishlisted on Steam, which the publisher delayed to 2026, amid a power struggle. Let's see. Okay, they do they, let they explain. Okay, I just want to make sure they kind of go into what's been going on, uh, with this story. But we filed a new uh lawsuit against crafting. The details should eventually become, uh, at least mostly public. You all deserve the full story.

Speaker 1:

Franchise creative director charlie cleveland wrote on reddit last night, hours after the publisher accused him and fellow former studio leaders, max muire and CEO Ted Gill, of failing to get Subnautica 2 ready for launch. Suing a multi-billion dollar company as a painful, public and possibly protracted way was certainly not on my bucket list, but this needs to be made right. Subnautica has been my life's work and I would never willingly abandon it or the amazing team that's poured their hearts into it. Okay, now. This should be where we go into the background of what the fuck is going on here.

Speaker 1:

So Unknown Worlds who is the developer? Was sold to Crafted in 2002 for roughly $500 million. If the studio hit revenue targets this year, the founders were on track to get an additional 250 million dollar payout, with a percentage of that going to the rank and file developers on the studio floor. So crafting was the, the company that bought unknown worlds. Unknown worlds are the people who actually make subnautica 2. They're the publisher. They were sold to crafton to uh to publish the game in 2022 and they bought them for 500 million dollars. So unknown worlds I believe it was they had a deal already set with whoever owned them first where, if they hit some revenue targets in the year the game came out which is supposed to come out this year, 2025, if they hit those targets, they will get an additional $250 million payout that would go to the founders the guys mentioned up here, like Charlie Cleveland and Max McGuire and Ted Gill and also a percentage would also go to the actual developers, the actual workers, the actual workers, the rank and file developers on the studio floor all of them would get a pay increase if the game met targets.

Speaker 1:

So the original story broke out was the fact that crafton delayed subnautica 2. They delayed subnautica 2's early access launch to 2026, making hitting that goal basically impossible. So the theory was crafting delayed the game so they would not have to remember. They already bought the studio for 500 million. So the rumor is they did this so they wouldn't have to pay that 250 million extra to pay to the developers. All right, follow along.

Speaker 1:

So crafted says it didn't fire them to avoid the payout, but because the founders failed to deliver a launch quality version of subnautica 2 as promised. Cleveland, who directed the first game, has, for his part, claimed the game was ready. So when all that news came out that everybody online started yapping, start talking, going, what the fuck is crafting doing? They ain't trying to pay the developers what they supposed to get paid. And the craft that came out was like no, that's not why we, that's not why we delayed the game and fired the the founders. We delayed the game and fired them because they didn't have a product that was ready to actually ship when it was supposed to ship. So the whole fucking thing just turned into a big game. If he say he say she say, they saying this and they saying that.

Speaker 1:

So it's it's gotten really weird and really messy and it eventually has now gotten to the point where now, uh, unknown worlds is suing crafting. Now they are now also, uh, alleged leaks of an internal may twenty twenty twenty twenty five milestone review floating around online that paint a messy picture of the game's development timeline. So now we got this news that there's some leaks and maybe, maybe, crafting was right and that this shit was not ready. It includes an assessment that Subnautica 2's early access version was content light to drive ip growth and expansion and calls for 30 percent more content, including additional biomes, creatures and narrative chapters. If accurate, it would lend credence that crafton's recent claims. Though for now the alleged leaks remain unsubstantiated, the public, the published, declined to comment on it. So basically we got a big old messy fucking situation of one side claiming the other side is lying and of course, the truth is somewhere in the middle of all that.

Speaker 1:

So I have, over the weekend, crafton's pr reached out to kataka to confirm the leaks, which reinforced that the publisher's claims that it felt some nautical two needed more time to add features were in fact real and accurate. I wrote in a press release waiting for the girls. The document that has been circulating on social media and reported by various outlets is indeed part of an internal milestone review conducted as part of sonata katuure's project, confirming that portions have been leaked and are now widely shared across the online platforms within the community. They recognize the confusion. Given these circumstances, crafted as determined that transparent communication is necessary, and are chosen to confirm the authenticity of the document. Minimalizing speculation and incurring accurate communication with players must take precedence. Reviews are conducted regularly in collaboration with Krafton. Reviews help assess development progress, define clear objectives and ensure that each project aligns with Krafton's standards in both creativity and quality.

Speaker 1:

The process is central to the commitment to delivering polished, high-quality games at the right time. The process is central to the commitment to delivering polished, high-quality games at the right time. This would hardly be the first time that studio firms got into a messy, drawn-out fight with their parent publishers over debates about scope, timelines and bonus payouts. The most notorious was Infinity War leaders Vance Zampella and Jason West's high-profile 2010 lawsuit against Activision over Modern Warfare royalties. It went on for two years before it was settled, filed with tons of wild revelations about everything from corporate espionage to active vision. Stand to active visions, then unanimous plans for the first, I mean unannounced plans for the first destiny. We'll see how long this lawsuit lasts and what eventually will be revealed, hopefully, unknown worlds. Roughly 100 employees are still able to ship a good game and get what they are owed in the process.

Speaker 1:

As for the earn out, the idea that max ted and I wanted to keep it all for ourselves is totally untrue cleveland rope. I'm in this industry because I love it, not for the reasons he's in this shit, for the love of the game. He don't care about the money. Historically, we've always shared our profits with the team and did the same when we sold the studio. You can be damn sure we'll continue with the earn our bonus as well. They deserve for all their incredible work to get this great game into your hands. So, yeah, so we. It's just. It's just a. It's just a big old, messy, messy fucking thing going on over here with crafting and, uh, unknown worlds, and of course, it also means that the actual game is now being held hostage in the middle of all this now too. So if any fans, uh, have been looking forward to getting their hands on this, it's probably gonna be. Might be quite a while before you get your hands on it. So we'll see if the next week we'll be doing another news drop. We'll see if there's any brand new uh updates on this or if it's, if it's fucking major thing, maybe we just do a solo video on it, video on it and we'll see. But all right, so that's it for that.

Speaker 1:

Up next, we've got uh bioshock. Director ken levine says judas is old school and has no monetization or live service, which is still so funny to me that this is like a um, uh, uh, uh, a positive point for games now, just if it is monetization and and live service and all that online shit. Uh, but mostly, I put this on here because I'm just happy we finally hear something about this damn game. Uh, this game has been quiet for a very long time. It's been in development for a very long time with very little updates or news coming out of it constantly. So I've been writing. I've been writing a uh, a script for a video I want to do about games that are, uh, just breaking my heart with how long they're taking and the scarcity of any updates publicly. So I'm glad judas is. I'm glad we're actually getting something about this damn game. So judas is spending a lot of time cooking in the kitchen, but with levine's excellent track record for storytelling and game development, it's likely worth the wait.

Speaker 1:

The visionary who masterminded the bioshock series is weighing in on a single player gaming and how he hopes judas will be rewarded by players. Um I uh. So yeah, we know judas okay, and every interview with night dive studios youtube channel, uh levine said judas is a very old school game. You can buy the game and you get the whole thing. There's no online component, no live service, because everything we do is in service of telling the story and transporting the player feels ludicrous in many ways that levine had to explain about. Just I just said that. Uh, in 2025, though, game releases are complex, as ever, the days of games coming out and that's it are long gone Updates, patches, dlc, roadmaps and so much more to consider now, especially microtransactions. Levine also said single-player games, including Witcher 3, cyberpunk 2077, baldur's Gate 3, peter Cun, deliverance 2, and Expedition 33 are really traditional single-player games and they don't have that kind of monetization in them and I think the audience rewards those games. That's right. All those games have been very, very successful.

Speaker 1:

Judas was originally scheduled to release in 2025. It's Windows getting pushed back with every month, but, fingers crossed, we get to explore the Mayflower sooner rather than later. So, just like I said, I'm just happy we're finally getting some of this damn game. It's been a while since anything has kind of come out of it. So, yeah, I'm looking forward to it. I put this on my 2025 list but, like they said, it's seeming less likely we're getting it this year. Yeah, basically, I just thought of this on the spot.

Speaker 1:

It's a weird spot right now, especially for games that are like nearly there but not really there. They're in a really weird spot because it's like gta6, that's the. That's the main thing. Gta6, you know gta 6 is now coming, probably at the top of next year, summer of next year or something. Do we have an actual date for that? It's been a minute I don't remember. Do we have? Do we have a date for that yet or do you just have just a window so far? Um, may, 20, may 26, 26, yeah, okay, so you know gts6 is coming next year. You know what's coming in may of next year. So I feel like a lot of video game developers are now in a weird spot where now it's like okay, we finally know when this game is coming, we know what window we have to avoid.

Speaker 1:

But, depending on where your game is, do you try to finish it quickly and maybe even rush it so you can get it out before gta6 comes out, or do you, you know, and this is kind of one of those things that might piss some investors and shit off and which is what I think is the better, the better play anyway, but you gotta think some people are about the bottom line and the money and many quotas and shit. Or do you delay your sheet even further to release after gta 6 and what the juggernaut gta 6 is going to be after? It's probably, like you know, the winner of 2026, which could be good for some people, because now you're getting in on that holiday window, but maybe you know you want the shit to come a little earlier to meet some kind of quota. Uh, quarter sales. But it's very interesting to how games kind of have to handle development now or like when you release your game. All right.

Speaker 1:

Next up rog xbox ally prices may have been leaked by osus itself. Uh, recently discovered that rog uh xbox ally price points may have been leaked by none other than osus itself a screenshot that surfaced on social media store lists has revealed through google. Uh, that may have uncovered the price for both the ROG Ally and the Ally X. And I'm insane. I'm interested in this thing, but it all depends on what the damn price of it is. The prices, oh shit. The prices are higher than we expected. If they're accurate, oh shit, all right. If the report, if the report is correct. So take this with a grain of salt. It's about to break some banks.

Speaker 1:

On a screenshot grabbed by a localized Google search, it was suggested that the price of the Sars falls. The X is 899 euros and the Ally is 599 euros. What does that mean in US prices? Let's assume that the prices for the Ally rings will be subject to conversion. That means that the Ally X could cost an amount of $1,000. $1,400 Canadian dollars and a price tag of around $800 GPD and whatever. In contrast, the ROG Ally X in 2024 emerged with a price cap of $7,900. They could give you the US prices, about $800.

Speaker 1:

It was expected that the Xbox partnership may have introduced some kind of subsidization, with Microsoft taking a hit on the cost to bring it down and make the device more accessible. It's a pricey thing indeed, even if the Ally X is said to be a powerhouse of a handheld. Yeah, I can't lie. If it's that expensive, count me out, count me out. I am not about to pay $1,000 just to play a handheld on my couch. No, thank you. All right. Next news up nintendo is not fucking playing with y'all. Let's just make that completely clear. Nintendo is not fucking playing out here.

Speaker 1:

Major nintendo switch piracy website seized by the fbi. Um, I guess it was like new to you was a popular place for illegally downloading switch roms. One of the biggest switch piracy sites around has been taken down by the fbi as part of a law enforcement operation on Tuesday. New to you was one of the better known repositories for Switch ROMs online, allowing people to play games on hacked Switches or emulators on PC without legally purchasing the game themselves. This domain has been seized by the. It has the shit on the screen there. A Dutch agency that investigates fighters crimes on other lands was also involved. Uh, according to users on the switch piracy rip, there's a whole subreddit. The site was still active earlier today, with many claiming to have downloaded games within the last few weeks I mean last few hours. Kind of self-sufficient air the new to you site. Uh, the new to you sites were first added to the eu privacy watch list back in may.

Speaker 1:

The fbi and nintendo did not immediately respond for a request. Uh, to a request for comment. Uh, yeah, nintendo has been cracking down on switch piracy over the last few years, including taking legal action against the makers of the popular yuzu emulator last year. Players want Switch games on the PC and PC gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. Nintendo has also been pursuing litigation against smaller sites that host ROM downloads for older systems and the makers of third-party devices designed to help players circumvent Switch copyright protections.

Speaker 1:

Original Switch was hacked earlier in its life and ROMs for its types of games, like Tears of the Kingdom, have proliferated online in recent years. That's led some to speculate that Nintendo has gone to extra lengths to keep the Switch 2 locked down. Tight Players using unauthorized SD cards for storing multiple Switch 1 ROMs have already begun finding their new Switch to consoles banned from online services. Surely, after the console lost last month with nintendo reserve the rights of brick devices that violate its terms of service. Yeah, man, nintendo is uh, not making it easy for y'all. Not making it easy, they are we.

Speaker 1:

We all know nintendo is very protective of their ips, but now we clearly see that they are going the extra mile to make sure that their shit does not get out if you go. But if you plan a nintendo thing, you're gonna buy it and you're gonna play that bitch on a nintendo console which ain't look allegedly you know, allegedly, allegedly. If I was somebody who wanted to play some switch games but didn't really want to buy a Switch 2, allegedly I would be pretty upset that Nintendo was going this hard. But hey, it's a violation of the IP. But yeah, so there you go. So if you're going to partake in this stuff, just know Nintendo will brick your shit Very quick. All right.

Speaker 1:

And finally, y'all know what time of the year it is the regular NBA season is over. The next season don't start back until October. So in that window, the yearly NBA 2K window is about to begin. So we've got to deal with all of that. So I just decided, hey, let's just pull it up, let's look at some things, let's talk about it, because it's it's news. Oh, we gotta, we got a trailer here.

Speaker 2:

I don't want to show my shit on, let's just not the moments that last forever go beyond what we see on the court. You are the finals MVP. These moments start with the ball, a dream and a relentless will to win. They're the culmination of every effort put into the game since they first stepped on the court. All of those moments have led to this one NBA 2K26. Ball over everything. Ball over everything.

Speaker 1:

Ball over. Everything Alright. So that's NBA 2K26. Nba 2K26. These are our cover athletes. So we have Shea Gilders, alexander, the current league MVP, western Conference Finals MVP and NBA Finals MVP. Gracing the cover of the regular edition for the wnba edition, we got angel reese. The superstar edition we have carmelo anthony and then on the leave no doubt edition whatever fuck, that means we have all three of them covered in, uh the one. So there you go. Shay, andrew Reese, carmelo Anthony we got some screenshots, want to look at those? We got Tyrese Halliburton with the heli. What the fuck? The NBA 2K26 loyalty discount.

Speaker 1:

Nba 2K25 players will receive a 10% loyalty discount when pre-ordering 2K26 Leave no Doubt Edition on the same console platform. Score saves and secures you. Wow, look at that. Motherfuckers buying 2K every year and they give you a 10% discount as a welcome for you to not even bring your vc over. So these are three editions you already know, the only difference being about the digital bullshit and vc. All right, let's look at this. So let's see. Um damn, they don't even give you nothing for, okay, pre-ordering. Pre-ordering gives you 10ordering gives you $10,000 across the board, but in the Superstar Edition you already get $100,000, and Leave no Doubt, you get $135,000.

Speaker 1:

Early Access is only for the Superstar and Leave no Doubt Edition, that's whack. Season Pass. And no Doubt, you get some my Career content with this. Boost gatorade, boost hp coin, a jersey that only comes in a superstar, and the doubt, which also gives you a puffer jacket, did a bunch of my team bullshit. And leave no doubt gives you a uh, leave no doubt promo pack. So there you go.

Speaker 1:

Regular old 2k bullshit spin. How much is this? Shitty? Anyway, it was probably 70, right, yeah? So, yeah, regular, regular 70. How much is the superstar edition? That's 100. Let's goddamn what she is. This motherfucker's like what? 130, 150, 150 dollars? That's insane. Well, I shouldn't even say that 150, I'm fucking 2k. It's crazy.

Speaker 1:

Now I will say I have not been playing 2k as much. I recently started playing again when the when the playoffs were around. Um, leave no doubt. Edition is only available on Pia, blah, blah, blah, blah. I think you play it. Did say that on here, right? Yeah, early Access is with these two.

Speaker 1:

Uh, I've recently started playing again. I play in. I got 2k24, I did not get 25, honestly, I'm probably not gonna get 26 either. Um, yeah, I started playing that again. Oh, you know I'm having fun, you know it's whatever. Uh, I know I know I started playing that again. Oh, you know I'm having fun, you know it's whatever.

Speaker 1:

I know I'm an outcast. Probably I'm an oddity in the NBA 2K community, because this is going to sound weird for anybody watching this, any 2K fans out there. Nigga, I literally only legitimately play my career, because that's literally all I mean. That's the only thing I'm interested in. I just want to create a character and try to win as well fucking championships, you know, like an actual NBA, like like an actual NBA player.

Speaker 1:

I don't know if y'all realize this, but NBA 2K is literally just a fucking RPG. You just make a character, you make them, you give them a specific build. You know, know, you know who else uses build rpg games also uses builds, specific build with specific stats for specific talents, so you can specialize in something and and there you have it. That's why I was interested when they made the my, when they made the my player stuff, I was like, oh shit, so now it's just a rpg, I'm interested in playing it now. So I started playing it and that directly correlated to me actually watching nba basketball and I should be the fan, uh, since. So yeah, that's all I play. I don't fucking drop fucking stacks on vc because that's just fucking irresponsible as hell. You know, I might buy a pack and I'll just grind that shit out and yeah.

Speaker 1:

So I got a player. I think I'm on like I think I'm on like my eighth season on there and I started playing again. So now I'm interested playing again, so I'm gonna keep playing. I'm gonna tell. I'm gonna tell y'all this is how you break the system. If you like me and you really only play like my career and you're kind of sick of all the VC bullshit, the way you break the system is you just create a player. You go into the MyEra shit, right, put a player in a random draft class and then you play through the MyEra and then, once you get to that year that your player is in that draft, figure out where they get drafted to control that team, play like your player and then you just play through that.

Speaker 1:

I haven't even done that in 2K24 yet I did it in 23. That shit is fun as hell and you could also control the team a little bit more, which you can do in my career, so you can make sure motherfuckers don't get like motherfuckers you like and actually help the team. Don't get traded or try to keep them and lose, or don't lose like free agency or try to bring in like some players you want and you can like make it happen. It's a fun little thing that I like to do and I want to do that more often. I also wanted to get into the more of the w stuff too, with the w nba players. I've been wanting to get into that too, um, especially now that I'm more familiar with the players and the classes. Now I feel like I can get into it now. And I haven't even touched that. It's 24, so there's a lot of shit. 24 I ain't even touched yet which I'm like.

Speaker 1:

I probably skipped nba 2k26, but now, as I talk about it, the main reason I didn't want to jump up to 2k25 was because I needed to know if that shit was for the ps4, because I said if I'm getting another 2k, I want that bitch to be current gen. Only stop doing the uh old gen shit. And 26 is coming to a ps4, so I ain't following with it because it just means it's gonna be the same fucking shit. It's always the same fucking shit, but at least before, when you jumped console generations, there was a massive identifiable jump in uh in graphics and shit. You can't even get that because they're still making the ps4 version, they're still making the last gen version. So so, yeah, I, I'll be good on 2k26. I see y'all in 2027 or 28 maybe, if we get there. All right, and that is it for the video game section. Now we, of course, are going to finish things off with why is television on over here with our tv section? All right.

Speaker 1:

So south park was taken off paramount plus internally as streaming rights. Uncertainty deepens. Another setback for south park fans the hit animated comedy has been taken off paramount plus outside of the us as the platform's license to stream uh has expired. Uh, paramount global streamers. Negotiations for the rights to the series continue. Uh sources said the removal is somewhat surprising as south park's domestic streaming deal also recently expired, but the series has remained on hbo max in the us when negotiations are on a new pact are still ongoing. The delay comes amid growing tension over south park's lucrative streaming rights, as the series has been caught in the Skydance pending acquisition of Comedy Central parent. Paramount Global, which co-owns the joint venture, found South Park. South Park Digital Studios is the series' creators, matt Sona and Trey Parker who run it. Parker and Stone recently threatened legal action against paramount global.

Speaker 1:

Uh and president, alleging interference in the south park stream rights negotiation, made their feelings about the pending transaction publicly known last week when the premiere of the upcoming season 27 on comedy central was pushed from july 9th to july 23rd amid uncertainty. The merchant is a shit show and it's a and it is fucking up south park. They wrote on x? Uh as one of the crown. Can y'all get out of my damn face, thank you. As the crown jewel of paramount's ip library, south park has been expected to become available on paramount plus once the show's 500 million dollar exclusive streaming uh license deal with hbo max expired on late june 2025, with Paramount Global CEO Chris McCarthy telling investors in May that, starting this July, salah Park will be coming to Paramount Plus in the US. It is shocking that currently the show's library is not on the company's platform in any territory, aside from the handful of specials made for Paramount Plus. Uh legal letter. Uh, parker and stone park country sent last but to redbird skydance redbirds what poison becomes paramount global's president upon completion of his proposed acquisition to skydance? Hbo max and netflix have engaged in conversations over south park streaming rights, believed to be not exclusive. The clock's ticking to find a resolution in the next 10 days in order to have a streaming agreement in place by south park's current july 23rd premiere date. So well, they got nine days left now, because it's the 14th now. So yeah, so bad news. South park, south park fans. Shit like this puts the show in jeopardy and also makes it worse for the fans who now have to wait for all this legal bullshit to finish up and pass by.

Speaker 1:

Alright, next up Scrubs Revival nabs a series order at ABC, and Donald Faison and Sarah Chonk are returning. They join Zach Braff in reprising their roles from the series. I don't know, I'm no superman. Scrubs is officially scrubbing back in a lot of discussion. Revival, the 2000s comedy series, has landed a series order from abc, where it's been in development since december of 2024. Uh creator bill lawrence and members of the cast have talked about reunited over the years. Uh, fazon and chalk, who started the original version of the show, have signed on to join Zach Braff in the revival. All three will also be executive producers of the show and it's set to premiere in the 25-26 season. Scrubs means so very much to me, so I'm excited for the chance to get the band back together, lawrence said in a statement.

Speaker 1:

It ran for nine seasons from 2001 to 2010,. The first seven on NBC and the final two on ABC. The show follows intern John JD Dorian as he progressed through his medical career alongside best friend Chris Tuck and his on and off girlfriend and eventual wife Elliot Reid. The series also starred Judy Reyes, john C McGinley, neil Flynn and Ken Jenkins. Jd and Turk scrub in together for the first time in a long time. Medicine has changed, interns have change, but their bromance has still the test of time. Characters, new and old, navigate the waters of Sacred Heart while laughing heart and some surprises along the way.

Speaker 1:

Lawrence has said for years that he likes to revive scrubs, saying at an ATX Festival session in 2022, if you ever have an excuse to work with people you want to spend time with anyway, run to it. One compiling compacting factor is that Scrubs comes from DC's 20th television, more accurately its predecessor, touchstone, and Lawrence now has an overall deal with WB. He negotiated a carve out in the deal to serve as producer on Scrubs, but he won't be the showrunner. Okay, the new showrunner god damn it. The new showrunner is going to be Tim Hobart and Asim Bartra, both of whom started as writers and producers on the original series. They were executive produced with Lawrence Ingold Katzer and Lawrence Bartra, both of whom started as writers and producers on the original series. They were executive produced with Lawrence Ingold Katzer and Lawrence Dozer. The addition of Scrubs also busts ABC's comedy roster, which currently only includes Adam and Mary and Shifting Gears. So cool For any Scrubs fans out there. We got some new Scrubs coming along.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of that, oh, wait a minute. Is there a trailer for that? I just remember that office spinoff had a poster out, but I think they have a fucking trailer too. Don't see anything. Am I tripping? No, oh, maybe it was just uh, maybe it was just the uh, an image here. That was it, but I knew they had like a poster or something. Oh, here it is. There it is coming september 4th. The paper. That's the. Uh, the office spinoff. We've been following some of the casting updates here on the channel for a little bit, so there you go. Yeah, it just the the. The revival reminded me like, oh, shit didn't have a trick. I think this is what I saw, but I don't know if this is an actual trailer. No, it's not. I can already tell. All right, yeah, so just let's just. But anyway, yeah so the the new poster for the paper that comes out in September. So there you go, all right. Next up, we've got Emily in Paris is scheduled to shoot in Venice for the fifth season. I'll just refresh this so we can get this fucking ass out the way. I'm looking forward to that to come back.

Speaker 1:

All right, murderbot renewed for season two at Apple TV+. Renewed before the finale dropped, despite delivering a lot less. It had to be Jordan. Jordan, I think, is the only fucking writer for for empire, for empire's website. All right, um, murderbot has won us over with his amore, funniness, absorbing off-kilter vibes and inspired central central performance from alexander skarsgård. Uh, it's won over execs too, as uh, ahead of the season one finale, apple confirmed, uh, that murder bot has already been recommissioned for a season 2, so I say murder bot to be continued. I've been adapted uh from the first book, uh, from arthur martha wells best selling robot, the murder bot diaries.

Speaker 1:

First season of the walz brother show was followed by scars of articular self-hacking security construct as he struggles to hide his newfound free will to reconcile his general apathy towards humans with an ever-growing interest in the species and his own burgeoning humanity. The show also stars Tamara Podemski, akshay Akkad, sabrina Wu, tatia Tatia, akshay akkad, sabrina woo, tatia tatia, juana jones uh, noma dumzwincy and david dasmouchen uh, over the course of the series. So there you go. So murderbot is coming back for a season two, so it was very renewed. So good news there. Uh, all right, here we go.

Speaker 1:

Emily and paris shoot in venice for the upcoming fifth season. After frolicking in paris and leading the dalsa vita in rome, emily and paris set for an interlude in venice. According to lisa zia, the governor of the vento uh, the veneto region, the hit show from netflix is going to be shooting in the lagoon city between august 5th and 15th, as I said, for its fifth season. Extraordinary news confirming how our region is increasingly attractive for major global audio visual productions. The governor revealed that Emily in Paris director Andrew Fleming is currently scanning locations with the assistance of the Northern Italian Regional Veneto Film Commission at Venice Best Company 360 Degree degree films. Uh, it's a source of pride to see uh venetian talent promoting their region and bringing the names to venice and the veneto to millions of hoves around the world. Netflix had no comment.

Speaker 1:

Emily and paris, season five kicked off filming in may in rome and returned to the french capital in june. The story picks up days after season 4 ends, as Emily settles to her apartment in Rome to run Agent Gratineau's Italian office, to spend time with Marcello, the charming and confident heir to a family-owned cashmere company. Yeah, so there you go, emily in Paris, season 5. We also got the news that the new harry potter show is just starting filming. I think this is literally just came out a couple hours ago. Um, that shared a little picture. Ain't it crazy? You turn your vpn on, shit just loads instantly, but you turn it off, shit loads instantly, but you have it on. Shit just takes for a fucking ever. So yeah, they shared a photo.

Speaker 1:

The uh, hbo, hbo's Harry Potter series has started filming. So there you go. We've been covering this for quite some time. We've got the cast and all that shit, so now to see that it's finally filming, that's really good. So we'll see what has in store for this brand new Harry Potter series whenever it comes out to air. I think they're going to do a season for each book, so each book is going to be a season. Each of the seven Harry Potter books will make up an entire season. Shooty Girl, season one is expected to last until the spring of 2026. Damn. And then season two is gonna go into production after short break. Well, I guess when you're filming with kids, you know you gotta, you gotta follow those the rules. They can only be on set for x amount of hours a day. They can only film for x amount of hours a day. So I guess it makes sense that they're gonna be shooting this for a very long time. All right, so yeah, so the new Harry Potter is filming, all right. And for our last story here on the TV spot, we've got our full list of Daytime Emmy nominations here.
