Speaker 1:

Hello, all you awesome people out there, welcome and welcome back to Geek Visions Entertainment, the one place dedicated to the big three of visual media film, video games and tv, specifically the more nerdy aspect, even though nowadays, all that shit is about nerdy. Nowadays, anyway, I'm your host, as always, hoover, and we are back with yet another edition of news drop giving you the important news articles from a certain period of time whenever I decide to start recording this shit. Um, most of the stuff here is from uh, the, the mid, uh to end of late April, uh, so that's what we'll be talking about here today. You know we always got to give you that news, uh, not not exactly hot and fresh, but pretty, still, pretty damn good. It was May yesterday. Uh, you know, still it's still within the, still within the window of still being fresh, but you know, still it's still within the, still within the window of still being fresh. But you know, some of them came in fresh, hot, today. Some of them we made yesterday and you know it didn't, it didn't get sold, but it's still out there, so you know how it is.

Speaker 1:

So, all right, let's go over what we're going to be talking about here today on this episode of news drop. Uh, episode 49. We are nearly 50 episodes. It is done. That's crazy. All right, uh. In this episode we gonna be talking about uh, of course, we got to talk about the box office weekend from last weekend and what and how sinners did over the weekend. Um, spoiler alert, it did pretty damn well. Um, we also got ryan kugel's response to, uh, the center's reception. Uh, we also got some brand new news for some hunger games casting. Um. We got some new rules for the oscars. Uh, upcoming this year. Uh, we got our first impression of the thunderbolts and we got two new movies that have just been recently announced. Um. On the video game side um, probably you already probably know this, but don't talk about it anyway. Uh, bethesda shadow dropping the oblivion remake. Uh, the gooning is going to continue for marvel rivals, so we talk about that. Um, we're gonna discuss what the fuck is going on with roblox. Um, we got a brand new release date for fbc firebreak and we got some news on um. We'll save that for later, though. Uh.

Speaker 1:

On the tv aspect, we've got some uh, when one show, when one show gets canceled, a spinoff gets greenlit. Uh, we got some brand new casting updates for the whole disney plus series. Uh, also some casting updates for the harry potter series as well, and then, of course, we got our trailers. And then, across all three, we have a shit ton of star wars news. Star wars had a celebration, uh, not too long ago, so we got some news from all the all three mediums got something to do with all three of those. So we talk about some star wars news for all three of those. So that is what we are going to be discussing here in this episode of news drop.

Speaker 1:

Um, of course, before we get into it, feel, if you like what we're doing over here, feel free to subscribe to the channel, check out some of the other stuff we got up over here as well. Uh, I got some video game stuff. I got some tv and movie impression stuff. Uh, we got a lot of stuff. So feel free to check out the channel. There's a very, very small channel, but feel free to check out some of the other stuff on there. I would very much appreciate it, always do. But anywho, that's enough. He happened.

Speaker 1:

Let's just go ahead and get right into this news, shall we all right? Starting off, sinners widens lead over minecraft with a 48 million dollar in surprise east easter I'll just say eastern. I got basketball on my oops what I'm meant to do? Uh, ryan, cougar, supernatural vampire, pick whether I could be joined earlier. Perfect reviews and glowing audience scores uh, double win for warner brothers as minecraft has also cleared 700 million globally, all right. So sinners has uh has more than found redemption at the easter weekend box office, which is twofold for warner brothers.

Speaker 1:

In surprise upset, the movie beat a minecraft movie and topped the domestic charts with an estimated 48 million from uh three thousand, from uh three thousand plus theaters, including imax screens, well ahead of the estimated 41 million and even higher than sunday's estimate of 45.6 million. According to weekend actuals. I did think uh. Overall, this made like 61 million in its first weekend. Uh, to boot. And why did this lead over minecraft, which sunday's estimate uh show grossing 41.3 million? Final numbers have minecraft taking in 40 million, which is a standout for a number for a film in its third weekend. So minecraft movie is still making bank.

Speaker 1:

Uh, to the, to the horror of all theater workers everywhere with that chicken jockey shit. Uh, warners, what the hell was that? Warners was the? What the fuck? I'm not even moving up, I'm moving sideways like what the hell? Warners was the unqualified winner of this year's box office Easter Easter egg hunt okay, commanding 64% of the market and became the first studio since 2009 to have two films gross 40 million plus.

Speaker 1:

The growing strength of Sinister at the weekend was due to stellar word of mouth and a continuous spike in walk-up business. Based on Friday's gross of 19.2 million, centers slipped to open to 60 million and it did. Uh achieved its victory after earning a near perfect reviews and going audience scores overseas. Started off with 15 million from select markets, with a global total of 63.5 million. Uh, I am one of those people with a near perfect review. I. I had an impressions video drop. Uh, I dropped yesterday, uh, the 23rd from the day I'm recording this, so feel free to check that out as well if you want to hear my thoughts on the movie. I don't spoil anything. I try my best not to spoil anything.

Speaker 1:

Um, not that minecraft, now in its third weekend, is any slouch. It jumped to 700 million dollars globally. Uh, it appeared. Uh, record-breaking video game adaption was staying number one for 45 million. Uh, but family movies are always hard to model on easter weekend. Um, yeah, I went. I went to go see sinners on that um easter sunday and it was, it was, it was. It was pretty empty. It wasn't stuffed but it wasn't empty, but it was. It was a nice little scattered crowd in there.

Speaker 1:

Uh, overseas, minecraft pulled in a 57 million globally, nearing 720 million uh overall. Uh 30 343 million domestically, 374 million overseas worldwide it's made about 717.8 million, the first film of 2025 to have a shot at making a billion dollars worldwide. So we're gonna have to continue to keep eyes on minecraft to see if it can cross that billion dollar mark. Um that it has some stiff competition coming up. Um thunderbolts drops in a couple weeks, so it's going to be interesting to see if it can stand the test of that. Um and also seeing if, well, I mean sinners and sinners of minecraft have two whole different uh target audiences. So I don't think that. I don't think they'll cannibalize each other's uh uh audience too much.

Speaker 1:

Uh, sinners most a strong start for an r-rated original genre pick and is the best start to any original film since pre-pandemic times, when Jordan Peele's Us opened to 71 million in 2019. Uh, the movies made entirely by Warner Brothers. Wait, all odds were on how Cougar since before, since the movie was made entirely by Warner Brothers movie chiefs Michael DeLuca and Pamela Abbey, from start to finish. If it continues to impress, the duo can now boast two wins in a row. After several high-profile misses made by WB Discovery, david Zaslatt, yeah, consider replacing them, even if those misses were inherited projects. Yeah, wb taking a lot of Ls. That was late, all right. What else we got? Anything not related to Sinners or Minecraft. Here we go.

Speaker 1:

Angel Studios, faith-based Easter Thing. The King of Kings placed third. Animated pick about the life of Jesus earned 17.3 million for a narrow drop of 11%. After adding 335 theaters, domestic total is about 45.3 million. A plus cinema score is playing best in middle america and the south. No surprise there. Um, uh, the.

Speaker 1:

I forgot about the amateur, the romney millick spy drama. The amateur is holding in fourth, estimated 7.2 million for domestic total of 27.3. Oh, that's kind of bad. Uh, it declined 51 percent in the sequel. It's in the second weekend too, and I could put this yeah, that kind of is bad timing. Yeah, that's bad timing. It got caught between minecraft and sinners, so yeah, that sucks.

Speaker 1:

Uh, a24 is greedy. Us navy seal drama warfare around the top five. I forgot up. I knew that. I came out too. I actually didn't even really know the damn dates for when these two movies came out, but we've watched trailers for them. I just forgot what the date. I just never paid attention to the dates. But Warfare rounded out the top five. Estimated basic five million from 2,000 plus sites. Ten day domestic total of 17.1. Dropped 42%, point one. Dropped 42 percent. Um, in honor of easter weekend, a24 discounted ticket prices for military members and their uh dependents. That's nice. Uh, directed by cole and yeah, directed by agnes garland and ray mendoza, former nico seal. So those were our top five throughout the weekend.

Speaker 1:

Um, I don't know what's uh, what is what's? What's the? I feel like. I feel like the budget for this isn't much. That's 20 mil. How much did it make in that weekend? It's made 17 million, so it's already not too far, but it's only it's. It's. It's not too far from breaking even. Uh, so well, the break even is gonna remain to be seen, you know. And what was the? What was the? And the amateur costs 60 million and that is up to uh, that was doing that, that was doing well, 64 million globally. It costs what? 60 million already. So it's already made, it's already broken even, but it remains to be seen if it's going to be profitable. Like I said, it got caught in a bad time between sinners and minecraft and we are on the precipice of the thunderbolts coming out, so we'll have to see what. We'll have to see what's shaking, uh, what comes out. What comes out.

Speaker 1:

Let's see new movies this week. Anything new, even thing new dropping this weekend. Uh, the accountant 2 is dropping. Okay, I can see, definitely I can see that affecting both of them. Uh, star wars re-release. And until dawn is all is coming out.

Speaker 1:

Cheech and chong's last movie, swift horse, is prime presence and Until Dawn is coming out. Cheech and Chong's last movie, swift Horses Prime Presence, 20. What the hell is this? Oh, it's about a little fucking. Why is it over there? Let's just close that for right now.

Speaker 1:

Minecraft, sinners, king Kings, amateur Warfare Drop. How's that doing? Is that in theaters now? It is in theaters now. How's that doing? Well, apparently they didn't craft the top five and that came out what? Two weeks ago? Yeah, I forgot, I forgot about that one too. All right, so we'll keep it up. We'll keep an eye on the.

Speaker 1:

In our next news shot, we'll see how the, uh, how the weekend went. Uh for for this upcoming weekend, the weekend of the 20, the weekend of the 25th, all right, but that's it for sinners. So, with the success of sinners, uh, we also now have ryan coogler, who wrote an emotional letter, uh for the fans to thank them for their success. Uh, he expressed his gratitude following the box office success of sinners. Pending the motion of letter. Thank you, fans, for the support of the period horror film. Um, and it quotes uh eternal gratitude. My heart is bursting with it.

Speaker 1:

I want to thank each and every one of you who brought a ticket to see sinners, who decided to drive to see the film in different formats, who bought popcorn and a drink, booked a sitter and carpool and stood in the lobby afterward, afterward and talked and made a friend, who changed their work schedules, who saw the film in groups, um, I had the gift of the opportunity of making the film inspired by my family and my ancestry, but it was always the film we wanted to make for audiences in theaters. We always had our minds on you, the audience, and felt a deep responsibility to entertain you and move you in, in uh in the and move you in the way only cinema can. I believe in cinema, I believe, a theatrical experience. I believe it is the necessary pillar of society. That's why me and so many of my colleagues have dedicated our lives to the craft. We don't get to do what we do if you don't show up. Uh, the global theatrical audience has allowed me to dream, find a career and build a more sustainable life for me and my family, and the only way that I know how to thank you for that is by continuing to to mine my personal human experiences and my relationships for more stories to bring you in a cinematic language to see. Your response to the film has invigorated me and many others who believe in this art form.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's great. I didn't know. I didn't see this full picture. Should we read the rest of it? For let's see if I can read this tiny ass for the script, this crew and the cast I dug deeper to myself with respect to my ancestors, who breathe so much life and purpose into me also unabashedly reached towards my cinematic influence, including, but not limited to spike lee, john singleton uh. Kerny barnes, steve mcqueen, ava duvernay uh. Johan patsy I can't see that one or duraora Weldy, oscar Michaud I don't know.

Speaker 1:

Robert Rodriguez, barry Jenkins, quentin Tarantino, nicholas Rogue, andrea Arnold, jeremy Saliner, paul Thomas Anderson, joel and Anthony, the Coen Brothers, bill Gunn, jordan Peele, john Carpenter Boots, riley, shaka King, nia DaCosta, terrence, may others. Bill gunn, jordan peel, john carpenter, boots, riley, a shocker, shocker king. Nia da costa, terrence, main rain. Johnson bradford, young, uh cronenberg, david lynch, chris nolan, emma thompson, theodore whitaker, uh coppola, julie dash, spielberg, khalil, joseph maddiepe, the Safdies, stephen King, barbara Palmer, amari Banks, scorsese De Palma, george Lucas hey, toddy Coates, walter Mosley, stephen Graham, a lot of a lot of flowers to a lot of people in this. I love it. Joel McCartney, wes Craven and many others.

Speaker 1:

Every time you show to theaters, you allow us to come back and do it again. Others, every time you show to theaters, you allow us to come back and do it again, and together maybe we can expand the definition of what a blackbuster is, what a horror movie is and what an imax audience looks like. I'll see you at the movies, popcorn bucket in hand with many things right. Kuban, uh ps. Much about my uh 13 year partnership with michael b, joining my 17 year partnership with liquid gorson, who about? I didn't mention it before, but the music in centers was fucking fire, their original music and centers also fucking fire and my near lifelong partnership with uh zini kugler.

Speaker 1:

But I wanted to shout out michael uh solver, our exceptional work on this film. Um, oh wait, I'm sorry, our picture editor, who I have been working with for 15 years. Michael did exceptional work on the film and it isn't being talked about enough and he missed the press tour to spend time with this beautiful kid, want to highlight him and show him things too. So a massive letter of appreciation. I love. I just know it's a continent, the little cotton pops too. Uh, from director ryan clure. You'll love to see it. It's beautiful. That's art. Uh, what is this? Reboots royal pays. Reboot star mark furenstein and works at nbc. Let's get that, because I don't even know what. That is all right. So that was that all right.

Speaker 1:

To some more current, I think this dropped yesterday, um, yeah, the 23rd. Uh, so we got some casting on the brand new re. I don't know if it's a reboot or or a sequel, whatever it is, but it's more hunger games. Uh, hungry games. The sunrise on the reaping cast joseph azada and whitney peak as leads. Azada will play fan favorite character, hamish abernathy, while peak steps into the role of lenore dove, bairmitch's girlfriend. I don't know shit about the Hunger Games.

Speaker 1:

Alright, the prequel okay, it's a prequel focused on fan favorite Haymitch, who later acted as a mentor in the Hunger Games to Harold Katniss Everdeen. Okay, it was Woody Harrelson's character in the original movies. Francis Lawrence is back in the director's chair, while screenwriter Bill Ray is back to pen the story. Yeah, we know, it's based off the book. It takes place in Panem, 24 years before the events of the Hunger Games, starting on the morning of the reaping of the 50th Hunger Games, also known as the second quarter quail. Thank you, adobe when Hamish competes okay, so pretty cool about a fan favorite character. He was the mentor to. Thank you, adobe when Hamish competes Okay, so pretty cool about a fan favorite character. He was the mentor to Katniss in the first one and it's about him being produced by Color Forces, nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, with Cameron McConaughey serving executive producer. It is Hunger Games.

Speaker 1:

Sunrise on the Reaping is slated for a November 20th, 2026 release. Uh, we can see Zada and Amazon's we Were Liars and opposite Florence Pugh and Mike Fast and Netflix's East of Eden and da-da-da-da-da. And Peak is best known for her work in the Gossip Girl reboot and she's next popping up in Sony's Shiver, uh, shark Thriller. There's a shark movie coming. I know about that. So hey, what we think about this?

Speaker 1:

Like I said, I don't know nothing about the hunger games. I know the last movies did, uh, big numbers. I'm interested. I am one. I am interested in one thing about this is the ya adaption still profitable? Because that's always been a thing. Everybody, everybody's been chasing fucking harry potter movies. Since the harry potter movies came out, everybody's been chasing them. The hunger games were the one, were one of the lone exceptions that actually worked. Uh, so I'm interested in seeing, um, it was like what? This? And maze runner? If you want to say that, all right. If want to put Maze Runner in success, I can't argue against that. But yeah, everybody's been chasing the young adult book adaptions for years and lately they have not worked for Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. And if you want to say Maze Runner, I ain't gonna argue with you For the three of those, you also get your fucking I Am Number Fours, your D?

Speaker 1:

Um the original percy jackson movies, what the fuck was that? One movie called with the big ass cities on the on the? Uh, on the big ass trucks, um, mortal instruments. Is that what that movie was called? It was terrible. I remember that too. It was a fucking disaster.

Speaker 1:

Uh, was this it? Mortal instrument? City of bones? Yeah, I think I'm thinking of something else, though. I think I'm thinking of something else, though, because there's a girl. She had, like a. She had why? A adaption cities on trucks. That's all I remember, that's all. I remember how it was. Mortal engines, that's what it was called. Yeah, so for the three successes like that, you get massive failures like, uh, mortal instruments at mortal instruments, mortal engines and the mortal instruments well, that's the same thing, or at least those two different things, whatever. And you're fucking, I am number fours and all that shit. So I'm not sure if the younger, the the ya book adaptions can still work in this day and age, because you don't see them too much anymore.

Speaker 1:

All right, moving on, uh, big star wars for the movie thing. Uh, we got our. We got a new news, for ryan gosling is going to star in a brand new star wars movie called star wars starfighter. It's going to be directed by sean levy, who directed um, I got this, I got these confused last time. It's not Fall Guy, it's shit. The New Guy, not New Guy, damn it. What the hell is it called? Free Guy, that's what it was called. He directed Free Guy. He directed Deadpool and Wolverine, anything else? Nope, he directed Marine, anything else, with note, he directed Adam Project. What is this?

Speaker 1:

Not at the Museum, internship, real Steel so yeah, not at the Museum is a classic. Real Steel didn't work too much. The Internship didn't work. I remember the sequels not being that great for Not at the Museum is a classic. Real Steel didn't work too much. The Internship didn't work. I remember the sequels not being that great for Night at the Museum.

Speaker 1:

Free Guy, deadpool, wolverine. So he's been on a roll as of late. He's been on a really good roll as of late. It's going to be his first thing in a while. That's not going to involve Ryan Reynolds either, because Adam Project Free Guy and Deadpool Wolverine. So we, because the adam project free guy ended up pulling wolverine, so we'll see how it goes. Oh, yeah, and stars ryan gosling, who's, I believe, stepping into star wars for the very first time in his career. Uh, so, yeah. So the steps.

Speaker 1:

The star wars celebration was underway in tokyo, japan. Um, they had a big thing for mando and grogu. I should actually click on that. See if they talked about the thing. I can't, because I don't think this thing is loaded all the way. Oh, it's our boy, it's uh, it's the homie jordan. It's the homie jordan.

Speaker 1:

We gotta read through this uh announcement concerning uh another upcoming star wars project. Have fans at the hollering? This is the way there we go. There, it is there, it is hollering. This is the way uh levy took the stand to announce a new star wars movie titled star wars starfighter. Fuck, what star wars starfighter. Indeed, star ryan gosling, who walked out to an applause. So, yeah, not too much. Um, okay, oh, we do got some news set five years after the rise of skywalker. Um, distresses is a standalone adventure with all new characters. Uh, written by the adam project collaborator, jonathan troper. True, yeah, troper, uh can expand on what fans can expect on the first look out.

Speaker 1:

Both uh were a bit uh effusive. What the fuck is that? Both were effusive in their enthusiasm. What is that? Uh expressing gratitude, pleasure or approval? Okay, they were grateful. Okay, I should. How do you pronounce that? If effusive? If, okay, effusive? Both were effusive in their enthusiasm for making the jump to lightspeed and becoming part of the universe. So not too much news is known now, but they said it's five years after the rise of Skywalker, which is good, because I feel like we really need to start getting away from the Skywalker stuff. I hope they do more stuff like this. It's probably going to be the thing we get next.

Speaker 1:

After the Grogu Mando andgu uh recap, we'll be up to star wars movies. Uh, let's see, among those names checked were mangoes, dawn of the jedi. Okay, taika still has a star wars movie happening. I remember that's a long ass time. Uh, kimberg's new trilogy, um, and uh, chinois's new jedi order starring daisy ridley. Uh, so, including the mangrove star star, for them to get eight movies of the works. Damn, that's crazy. Uh, do they have anything about what they talked about at the middle, the grogu amando stuff? No, this is old. Yes, january, that's when they first announced they were doing it okay. So, yeah, brand new star wars movie coming out effusive, and I learned a new word. All right.

Speaker 1:

Uh, brand new news coming out of the oscars category, which is kind of crazy when you think about it the oscar voters can no longer vote in a category unless they've seen all nominees. The Film Academy also released key dates pertaining to the 2026 Oscars, as well as updated guidance on the new casting Oscar, on new casting Oscar, artificial intelligence and more. This is kind of crazy if you think about it, which means for years they had people voting categories where they had not seen all the movies. Now it's like one thing for like, like a fan vote or something, or like the Video Game Awards. I voted for a Game of the Year contender last year. I voted for Astro Bot and it was the only Game of the Year contender last year. I voted for Astro Bot and it was the only game of the year contender I played. But I don't think. But it's still like a panel who votes on this shit.

Speaker 1:

With the 97th Oscars now seven weeks in the rear view, the motion of Picture Academy, arts and Sciences turned its attention to the 98th Oscars, which will take place on Sunday, march 15th 2026. The organizing Board of Govern. The 98th i-series will take place on sunday, march 15th 2026. Uh, the organizing uh board of governance announced other key dates pertaining to the season uh, announcements on shortlist nominees and more. Also, blah, blah, okay, where's that thing?

Speaker 1:

In a major departure from the 97 years of tradition, the board has implemented what one might call the uh diane warren rule. What the fuck is that? That widely admired the, that widely admired songwriter has received 16 best original song oscar nominations from her peers in the music branch, but has never won, in part because the final ballot that is sent to the full membership has never listed the names of individuals who are nominated alongside the nominee projects. Had more voters realized that warren was associated with a particular nominated project, say uh, till it happens from the documented undergrounds there, probably would have been more inclined to support it. Moving forward, though, all designated nominees in all categories not be listed in the final ballot, so all names from things are going to be listed in things, so like, okay, so all names from everybody involved in whatever aspect is involved with the voting is going to be listed on the ballot from now on. Diane warren I've never heard of her before 16 best original salon nominees and never won. That's crazy. All right, uh.

Speaker 1:

The captain is now making it harder for members to vote in categories in which they have not watched all the nominees in which BAFTA have done this for several years, something that, based on anecdotal evidence, has become more of a concern for the Academy in recent years, since the organization massively expanded its membership and brought in a lot of younger members who are busier with their careers. In the past, voters were always asked not to vote if they hadn't lost all the nominees, but the process operating entirely on an honor system. Moving forward, the academy's e-voting system in the final round of voting will not allow members to access the ballot for categories which they have not demonstrated that they have lost all the nominee. How do you do that, though? We'll try viewing via members only screening room streaming app. Okay, they got their own app for people to watch the movies and they're going to look at the data, ask for films consumed elsewhere, like at screenings or film festivals, and then they're going to have to fill out a form declaring when and where they watched the film. Are they going to fact check that? Like? What the fuck?

Speaker 1:

In the past, members had to do this in order to vote in the preliminary nominations rounds for best feature and blah blah. This would presumably result in less coital cook, unless okay, another word here coital, coital, very coattail, oh, how come? I didn't know that, because it's one word. It threw me off. That's why, what the fuck? Okay, let's coattail voting, which means you just, you just heard it. You just heard it was good. You haven't seen it, you just heard it was really good. So you just kind of go with everybody else's saying uh, and I tell my wife's because around the world the academy is taking steps to ensure that the work of filmmakers with refugee or asylum status are able to to be submitted for the best international feature oscar.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so they got new systems in place to make sure people actually watched the movie. They don't look at the streaming data. You gotta fill out a fucking a form if you saw the movie somewhere else. Um, yeah, hmm, I don't know if this is gonna be uh, uh, if this is gonna be better or worse, because they actually put it out. One very important thing. Uh was the whole thing with, like, they expanded the ballot and now it includes a lot of younger people, but of course you know it's like they're not gonna see everything. So now it's like it's it just mean it just still gives the old farts who are so fucking out of touch with shit, uh, more fucking. Uh, you know it gives it gives their votes more weight than other people because, like, as a fucking old ass, fucking 70 year old, fucking white dude, you know like are they gonna be? Like voting for sinners like that, like shit, like that, like you know what I mean. By the way, sinners better be up for some Oscar attention when it comes around. All right, what the hell is this? Okay?

Speaker 1:

Dates pertaining to the oscar season uh, first submission deadline for animated shorts, documentary, documentary shorts, live action shorts is on the the 14th of august. First submission for general entry september 10th. Submission deadline for internationals is October 1st. Student films are October 6th. Final deadline for animated shorts, documentary shorts, live action shorts are the 9th October 9th. Music original is October 15th. Final submission for documentary feature is October 16th. Deadline for music original score is november 3rd. Final submissions for general entry categories animated feature, best picture and raise is raised there.

Speaker 1:

Um, the thing to try to get more more popular popcorn movies involved, less oscar bait movies. That's the november 13th. Governor wars on the 16th. Uh, preliminary voting begins on December 8th. It ends on the 12th. The shortlist is going to be announced on the 16th. I should mark this down somewhere, so I know I need to be looking out for the Oscar. The nominations Casting, makeup, hairstyle, sound and visual effects nominations screening bake-offs are Saturday um. Casting, makeup, hairstyle, sound and visual effects. Nomination screening bake-offs are saturday, january 10th and the 11th. Okay, here we go.

Speaker 1:

Oscar nomination announcement is on january 22nd. I'm not gonna remember that. We'll. We'll know what happens. It's gonna be big news. We'll know what happens when it happens. Final voting uh, begins on the february 26th of next year and the final voting ends on march 5th, and then the oscars happens on the 15th. All right, so brand new oscar rules, brand new oscars. We'll see how much it affects the actual oscars when they happen.

Speaker 1:

All right, moving on, we've got thunderbolt's first reaction. Uh, some say performance, pure, superb and some of Marvel's darkest material to date. Alright, marvel's Thunderbolts has been revealed to members of the press and the first reactions are calling the superhero tempo a bold dive into trauma healing and redemption. I was saying that when I was seeing the trailers I was like they seem like this trailer might be surprisingly more heartfelt than I would have thought. It was. Florence Pugh, who made her debut on Black Widow, has the standout performance. The Oscar nominees performance is being called superb and one that shines the brightest amongst the cast. That's good, because it seems like they're clearly trying to set her up to be one of the clearly trying to set yelena up to be a a major player in marvel moving forward, uh, the next best picture.

Speaker 1:

Editor-in-chief matt nagila writes that thunderbolts and some of marvel's darkest material to date very much belongs to florence pew, who carries most of the dramatic weight of the movie on her back, while Lewis Pullman delivers a complex performance as a sympathetic character at war with himself. It may not be the flashiest, funniest or strongest survival film, but its rough edges and imperfections somehow all feel fitting for this anti-hero team of misfits. I am getting straight up. Guardians of the One vibes from these, from this receptions again like a smaller one filled with relative unknown characters, fairly relative, relatively unknown actors. I mean david harper's, pretty big for stranger things.

Speaker 1:

Sebastian stan's been a part of the mcu for fucking years now. Um, florence plu is really kind of starting to, starting to really elevate in Hollywood right now, uh. But like Hannah John came in, it's still relatively unknown, even most Marvel. She only has that appearance in um, in um, ant-man and the Wasp, uh. Wyatt Russell, uh, still fairly new. Uh, you know still more of a uh, uh, lesser known name. I mean in terms of, like the general, the general public, um, who else is in this picture. That's also this. Oh, lewis pullman, uh, as century as well.

Speaker 1:

Uh, this is what we just read. Uh, it made a way different from another mcu film that come before, and the freshers can never arrive at a more opportune time when the franchise is in need of new blood and direction and some of marvel's darkest material to date. Uh, let's just read the tweet. Uh, it's basically what else? What the rest of the stuff we just read?

Speaker 1:

Uh, film writer emily murray called thunderbolts easily one of the best mcu movies in a long time. Has so much spark, charisma and tells a genuinely emotional story you connect with. A tear was shed, uh, and she said forest was spectacular, uh, superb, uh, it just walks away with it. Uh, shocked, how good thunderbolts is. Uh, putting emphasis on the character, work and practical action makes us feel like the old marvel that is. That has us for a decade plus. That has us for a decade plus. Wish we we'd gotten this sooner. Helps this dysfunctional team as chemistry too. Helps that, this dysfunctional team as chemistry too. All right, so early talk is that it's very good. Hollywood handle is what are Marvel's most enjoyable films in a while? That feels different than most of the studio's projects. It's bold, funny, filled with great action and an unexpected emotion. To plunge, plungeunge, punch. Florence Pugh is starting to show, which is another thing too.

Speaker 1:

I feel like the thing that's really been missing from Marvel post-endgame is they need more movies to have a clearly defined fucking identity and stick with it throughout the entirety of the movie. Like I feel like a lot of things have kind of just been. It's kind of been like halfway there or it's just kind of been the usual kind of marvel feel. We usually got, uh, and like my whole thing is like it's been so long, it's been decades with 20 plus films. So now we get to the part where, like, what does this movie have to offer that we can't get from anywhere else in the MCU? What is it offering that hasn't been offered anywhere else? And that's kind of been like my biggest thing with Marvel as of late.

Speaker 1:

Now there's been few, of course, that have been able to make it through. Shang-chi, guardians 3, wakanda, forever have been like the better. They've been like the best ones. Um, have been like the better. They've been like the best ones. Uh, you know. Spider-man uh, no way, far from no way. Home have been so like the better ones, but everything's like. You know, black widow was just kind of you know, all right, the love and thunder was just kind of okay. Um, I rewatched multiverse of madness.

Speaker 1:

I have a new. I have more appreciation for it. The first time I saw it I felt like the horror stuff wasn't in there enough. Upon watching it again, I feel like it did it. It did have it in there quite a bit. I do kind of wish the whole thing was more of a horror than the multiverse stuff. But I got a newfound appreciation for but it's still ain't like the funniest. So a lot of positive news is coming out of people who've seen the Thunderbolts, so that is very good. I feel like this kind of needs it. Like I said, I'm getting real. I'm getting real. It seemed like the recession seems to be like very much like reminds me of like how the first Guardians was A very kind of lightning in a bottle thing.

Speaker 1:

Thunderbolts was awesome. Thunderbolts was awesome how the MCU is moving forward. The team works well, plenty of emotion. Yelena is MVP. Didn't mean to click that. Introduce a new era for Marvel, the most humane film filled with allowing their anti-hero being flawed, broken and regretful. I do not mean to be clicking on these tweets like that. Uh, sebastian stan is an absolute scene-stealing moment. Fiora's p shows she's a true leader of the new generation of the team. Uh, they were quality, optimistic and then they came out saying that it was pretty great, visually darling, emotionally resident superhero film that pushes mental health to the forefront. Um, you know, people can call it woke. Then it's, it pushes, uh, pushes mental health. It has emotions, it has heartstrings as people dealing with guilt and failure and regret. People gonna call this woke, uh, but yeah, so that's good.

Speaker 1:

Marvel the Thunderbolts uh, initial reception has been very positive. I like to hear that this is the next movie on my list, uh, to go see. It's like a week and a half out or something by this point, so that's really good. All right, moving on, we got Andy Serkis' Animal Farm animated film. Has cast Seth Rogen, glenn Close, woody Harrelson and more in voice roles. So we got ourselves an animated Animal Farm movie. Y'all remember this book from fucking middle school, high school, animal Farm. I do. Andy Serkis has assembled an all-star voice cast for his animated adaption of George Orwell's classic novel Animal Farm. And then, cool, seth Rogen, gaten, matazaro, matarazo, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt, matt.

Speaker 1:

Screenwriter. He wrote the muppets and storks. Uh adapts the story of a group of animals who rebel against their human owners and take over the farm the uprising over. They are presented with a fresh set of challenges under the rule of a cunning pig named napoleon, who's going to be voiced by rogan, in a situation that forces them to find the courage to stand up to napoleon. Uh, and an adventure and imaginarium are producing. I've never heard of that. I've never heard of them before. Um, with adam nagel, david rosenbaum and, uh, john cavendish and circus. Uh. Harold should also serve as an executive producer alongside matt reeves, who they worked on the Batman and Planet of the Apes together. I know.

Speaker 1:

Seth Rogen, matt Azar was a dude from Stranger Things, buscemi. We got a Buscemi. A dude called Laverne Cox. That's Woody Harrelson. Okay, jim Parsons is the big red thing. That's what I thought.

Speaker 1:

Body Heat, robinson Stone and Cereal Mom Villani is Miss Marvel. We know that. I didn't know who Kathleen Turner is Body Heat Romancing the Stone of Cereal Mom. I don't know the name. I might know the face. Nah, I don't know. I don't know her, all right.

Speaker 1:

So, animal farm animated film coming. Does it give a date for, like, when is it? Is there a? Is there a release window for this? Uh, it doesn't seem like it. It doesn't seem like it. So, animal farm, pretty, pretty, pretty, stacked voice cast. So we're keeping an eye on that. And finally, um, toys r us live action movie is in the works with story kitchen. I don't know, I saw this. I immediately went what the fuck? So I had to bring it up.

Speaker 1:

Story Kitchen and Toys R Us Studios, the entertainment production arm of the global toy brand, have teamed up to develop a live action film. Toys R Us is a cultural touchstone that contains the parenting of the child and all of us. Today, as an 80s kid who considered Toys R Us one of the most magical places on Earth, we're honored to partner and create a film. Toys R Us is back. Right, I remember they closed, but they came back, didn't they? The film is an early development aimed to capture that childhood wonder in a modern, fast-paced adventure that taps into Toys R Us brands relevant across its more 70 years in the toy industry. As Toys R Us' first film film, this project is an exciting opportunity to bring the magic of our brand to the big screen.

Speaker 1:

Like, what the fuck? Like, what could this even be about? The project has been described as being in the vein of not the museum back to the future or big plus other successful toy inspired narratives like jumanji and barbie. These are all very radically, very radically kind of different movies. I'm trying to think like what? Like I understand, like, oh, it's going to be. Like because these use toys. Like, clearly, like knight of the museum has all the things in the music coming to life. Big is about a kid turns to an adult and then back to the future is back to the future. Like what the fuck does it all have to do? All right, whatever.

Speaker 1:

Uh, story kitchen specializes in adapting video games. Other non-traditional ip for film tv. Uh, beginning with, uh, okay, they did sonic. Uh, tomb raider, uh, the animated. Uh, netflix tomb raider. Uh, they're developing just cause universal, what, what? And it just calls the game and ruiner for universal with west Ball directing. I don't even know that one Street of Rage for Lionsgate, with Escape Artist co-producing Toe Jam and Earl. For MGM and with Steph Curry co-producing it Takes Two for MGM. Sifu for Netflix that's a Sifu animated show coming to Netflix.

Speaker 1:

I didn't even know that. That's a lot of shit. I did not. I don't know what the fuck. That's a lot of shit. I did not know. I don't know what the fuck Toll Jam and Earl is. What the fuck is that? Anybody know what this is? Toll Jam and Earl Did y'all get down with it Back in the day? Sega Okay, okay, I did not know this was a Jess Calls movie happening. I did not know there was a Jess Calls movie happening. I don't know what Ruiner is either.

Speaker 1:

This looks recent. This is 2017. Twin Stick Shooter Okay, alright. Well, we got no fucking fucking well. I mean, they got a track record at least. Sonic is huge. Uh, I don't know what the reception to the tomb raider series has been. I don't know about that. So we'll have to wait and see. All right, but that is it for our uh film section. Now we'll be moving on to our good old friends.

Speaker 1:

Uh, video game. I don't know why I shrink it all right. Uh, news. We probably already know this, but we're gonna talk about it. We're gonna go over just pretty quickly.

Speaker 1:

Uh, bethesda's oblivion remaster is out now. It's on xbox, ps5 and pc. Um, it was the worst kept secret in gaming for a while reports, leaks, rumors but they officially unveiled the elder scrolls 6 oblivion I I said 6, elder Scrolls 4, oblivion Remastered. It's $50, it launched the day they announced it, but it's also free on Game Pass as well for Xbox and PC. The game first released in 2006 it was a technical marvel at the time continued the streak of hits Bethesda had back in that time with Ob oblivion. Uh, morrowind came before it and then they, of course, uh, fallout 3 happened in there as well.

Speaker 1:

Uh, so, yes, the predecessor to skyrim. Um, but people love it from old 360 days. It was also one of the first rpgs to make a console. Uh, to make the jump over the console when RPG games were mostly just on PC. So they had a live stream where they fully revealed it and shit.

Speaker 1:

But yeah. So visuals they got new voice lines, new audio, new level up system. Combat animation is improved. Enemy AI is different. The kept some class things like lot picking and the dialogue. Minigames are all still there. Uh, dlc is included in there as well. So a lot of, a lot of good stuff there.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, like I said, 50 if you want to buy it, but it is on game pass. So there you go. So, like I said, we'll just talk about a little bit. We'll watch the trailer later, but yeah, because it's pretty popular and pretty well known now. But yeah, that's happened.

Speaker 1:

All right, uh, gooning is going to continue. The gooning never stops for marvel rivals because we have swimsuit skins coming to marvel rivals. Uh, marvel comics recently shared that they are going to be, uh, have the return of its swimsuit special. Um, it's currently slated to go out on july 9th, but they also mentioned that, um, along with those, they are going to be having some skins releasing on marvel rivals. Um, and we all know they fucking. They just had emma frost drop. Uh, just very Emma Frost drop just very recently with the thigh jiggle physics. So the Goonin' Nerves style. We know the skins. You got the Psylocke classic skin, the Invisible Woman's Malice skin, so they have not been afraid to make those skins for the Guna crowds out there. Since they don't think they've shown up so far, I will say this With all the flack Marvel Rivals has been getting because of the female skins they've been having.

Speaker 1:

I've seen a little bit of it online too. They've been talking about how the female skins have been very revealing, but nobody ever talks about the male skins, even though they also are fairly revealing. I hope when the swimsuit skins come out, they're all like this Just all Speedos, just all Speedos, just all jock straps. That's all the male skins are is just that no swim trunks, no shorts, just all Speedos, just that's it. They just get tired of people. All right, I keep talking about how we do our female characters. All right, just give them this. You know, it's just that, even though literally the Namor Do y'all know the name, wakanda forever skin and marble rivals yeah, just all like this. All all speedos and all trunks, namor nibbles all out, just just all the male skins. Just be like, just be like this. Uh, but yeah, we got, we got swimsuits coming there.

Speaker 1:

I, we don't know exactly when they're coming out, but if the comic's released in july 9th, I would expect around there is when it's going to be coming out. Uh, summer, summer release. That makes sense. Um, these are just from the variant covers. But yeah, uh, so, yeah, so, yeah, so get ready for more gooning from marvel if you've been in there, all right. All right, we got a more, we got. We got a bit more of a of a serious topic we're talking about, uh, here right now.

Speaker 1:

Um, roblox has a community of players who recreate school shootings, maps based off the columbine and, uh, I don't know how to pronounce that uvalod, I don't tell me it, don't tell me how it was about to say it. On this one uva, I don't know how to pronounce it correctly, but the uvalod, um, uh, two grounds for massive, uh, school shootings, uh, yeah, and roblox has a fucking whole community dedicated to people recreating these in the game. Uh, now, we'll say, if y'all don't know, roblox is a a very popular online multiplayer game. Uh, and the thing about it is a lot of kids are on roblox because it has a very. It has a very childish like uh, look to it, uh, very blocky kind of look, uh, very, very childish kind of look to it. As you can see, this is kind of how it looks, uh, and, yeah, as you see, it's garnered two kids, but a lot of a lot of adults play it. A lot of overcrowd play, a lot of older teenagers play it, uh, and it's it's also uh had a lot of uh, negative reception before this because it's also a total fucking hot spot for pdf files online as well, so they got that going for them as well. So now they have this whole other problem they got to deal with now too.

Speaker 1:

A new report has exposed a true crime community of robots players who reenact real life murders. A part of this group is reportedly dedicated to digitally reenacting and playing through famous school shootings within an extremely popular free-to-play game. On April 21st, the Anti-Defamation Center for Extremism published a new report that goes in-depth on these digital school shootings. The games, like nearly everything in Roblox, are created by users, so it's not created by the people who made roblox. It's all made by people who just play the game. Uh, they give you tools to sort of make your own uh gaming modes within the game, so it's just it's players who are making this stuff. Uh.

Speaker 1:

Many of the most popular school shooting simulators are created by a group known as active shooter studios or ass or ASS the fuck. They reportedly created Roblox maps In online games based on mass shootings Like those that happened at Uvalade, uvalade, parkland and Columbine. One of the studio's most popular maps Is Carbine, a recreation of the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre, which took the lives of A dozen students and one teacher. Uh, players can take on the role of shooters themselves and recreate the shootings. Uh, the maps are just simple pieces of geometry uh that mimic real world locations. They are highly detailed and contain disturbing features. What the fuck uh? And then the report says that one robot experience created by ass uh create recreates a 2022 uvillage school shooting. Uh features npcs that resembled oh my god children who hide under their, under their, and will play. Okay, what the fuck uh? So they struggle to keep their maps available as the company keeps removing them, but they reportedly they always pop back up. Uh, the studio, which boasts a Discord server containing over 500 members, so there's a whole Discord server filled with these people who get together and make these things. That's worse too. It has a store to using private Roblox servers to host their games behind a paywall. It's to make it harder for the studio to find them and remove the games which reported many community guidelines and rules.

Speaker 1:

Talk with the fuck of this image from it. Like what the fuck? Like I said, game. This game has already kind of been. It's already kind of like it's already garnered a reputation for housing. It's a pretty weird individual. Like I mentioned, it's a fucking hot spot for pdf files and now they got a bunch of motherfuckers on here fucking, you know, fucking domestic terrorists in training in this motherfucker right now, um, such as the 22-2 Buffalo. Yeah, I remember that Players might be prompted to seek out more information about these violent events which can lead them to manifest those or videos created by the attackers. In some case, they may also encounter content produced by accelerant white supremacists which glorifies these killers as aims to eradicate others to follow in their footsteps. This is fucking. This is fucking gross. And over 80 million active users today.

Speaker 1:

Many of many of our kids and teens, like I mentioned, uh, receive criticism in the past for friendly to keep the platform safe as it grows bigger and bigger for exploited children. I've seen a lot of little shorts and clips of of of kids will give like their full address to fucking adults on this game and the adults will fucking pull up to the people, to these kids houses and look the ones we've seen so far. They typically get found and spotted by the parents before something else happens. But yeah, so I would advise, if, uh, if I have any parents watching this or listening to this right now, uh, please monitor what your kids are playing online and monitor who they're talking to and who they're communicating with and what they're playing, um, especially young kids, even, even fucking teenagers, you know, just make you know, check it, check this shit out and make sure you know.

Speaker 1:

Fucking being vigilant is the first, is the first thing, the first step to take before shit like this gets crazy. Because, who know? Because it's good, it'll be so easy for these motherfuckers to be playing this and they keep gonna take it down, so they gotta keep taking these. The fact they the fact that they take such extreme measures to stay hidden with the fucking discord servers and putting it behind a paywall, already shows how fucking far they're willing to go to keep this shit up. And you never know when this shit will go from being like, hey, it's fun to play in the fucking game, but like imagine, especially in, especially this day and age, with everybody wanting to post shit on social media for clout and for status like it'd be so easy for these motherfuckers to easily just graduate from just doing this shit on a game to trying to do this shit in real life, you know, and even if it's like not them themselves to, like, you know, possibly target, uh, you know, some other kids or some other teens, other kids or some other teens who you know, who you know are, are victims of bullying or, you know, don't have many friends and shit like that. And you know, we all know, we all know the jokes of like you know the fucking quiet kid in the class who you know we've seen the jokes of like you know that quiet kid who's going to be the one to to do something if everything would happen. And you know, and you know, and you know how you and you know it ain't gonna be surprised if motherfuckers play this and they hype and gas and manipulate uh, somebody like that to go through with some shit like this in real life again, all for the sake of fucking recording that shit for the internet. So, yeah, roblo, roblox, roblox, y'all gotta get your robots, gotta get their shit together for real. All right, moving on to some, uh, some other news I don't know what this is, but this is taking out the day, so I'll just put it on here.

Speaker 1:

Fbc Firebreak release date announced. I don't even know what this is, uh, it's an upcoming three-player co-op FPS game that challenges you and your friends to uh out that, I'm not gonna lie. This is, I can't lie. This is a terrible fucking segue from the thing we just talked about with even stranger weapons. Uh, remedy entertainment. Oh, this is remedy. Okay, yeah, remedy. They did um, alan wake and control and alan wake too, so they They've got some clout. As one of the top developers of the studio's most recent project, alan Wake 2 went on to win Best Game Direction Narrative Art Direction at the Game Awards. It took two years, but Alan Wake 2 eventually surpassed 2 million copies, so making it a profitable title.

Speaker 1:

In 2024, the studio decided to cancel Project Kestrel to focus on other games, such as Control 2 and a remake compilation for both the Max Payne games. This also includes FBC Firebreak, which was first revealed on October 2024. It's officially launching on June 17th for PS5 and Xbox, and also playable on PC via Steam and Epic. It's going to be a day one for PC Game Pass and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, uh, via steam and epic. Uh, it's going to be a day one for a pc game pass and xbox game pass ultimate, uh, and day one for playstation plus and premium members, so you can also get it for free as well. So that's pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

Uh, first gameplay trailer with two minutes of action. One of the goals to move sticky notes from the federal bureau of control before it's too late. Oh, this is like an extraction shooter and your friends are dead with the outbreak and battle, in short. But if daily falls along the way, the game features a vast uh collection of unique weapons, like a gatling gun that shoots slime, a gnome rpg and a lightning gun that thrusts you into the air. So that's cool, that's cool. That's cool, that's cool. I'm not gonna lie. Um, I don't have this as a thing, but game pass is fucking cooking right now. Like, you got this south of midnight fucking what you would call it just dropped today. Uh, clarum yeah, expedition 33 just fucking dropped today. Elder scrolls oblivion uh, released for the game pass right now. You got um, doom dark age comes out in a couple weeks. Game pass is fucking cooking right now. For all the flack from when they announced that they were gonna put some, uh, xbox exclusive on playstation, game pass is kind of where it's at right now. So, hey, that's pretty good. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that a lot.

Speaker 1:

All right, and then for our star wars news, for the game, um, then, that's just a while ago, but now they officially reveal some stuff. Uh, at the company. Uh, they reveal more about the upcoming games of star wars. Zero company. How's it look? Because this is pretty small? Uh, I'm zooming in a little bit. There we go all right.

Speaker 1:

Um, alongside details about gameplay and pop, five new characters were introduced in the star wars universe, including zero company's protagonist. Uh, set in an exciting time and it got to be far, far away. The roster is sure to grow with some fascinating new characters. A lot was shared, uh, including the release window with platforms, details about the gameplay. So it's set during the clone wars. Zero company will see an elite new characters. Uh, a lot was shared, uh, including the release window with platforms and details about the gameplay. So it's set during the clone wars. Zero company will see an elite squad fighting in the shadows for the fate of the galaxy, intermixed with an ongoing conflict raging around them. Uh, they can't wait to learn more. Um, so I believe this is like a um. This is a um. This is like an x-com thing, like right, like, like XCOM and Midnight Suns. Yeah, yeah, yeah, gameplay for Zero Company will allow you to build teams of experts which can be sent out on missions and operations. Anyone who's a fan of XCOM should be very familiar with the format and excited to see it brought to Star Wars. Each battle will be woven in with a narrative, with promises that choices will matter and zero company. Success and failures will shape the galaxy as a whole.

Speaker 1:

Uh, we got a couple images here. We'll look through them really, really quick. Get that, got this one here and we got that one there. So there we go. That's the images here. All right, let's look at the characters. So far, all right.

Speaker 1:

So far, only five characters have been revealed for Zero Company, but they already have me intrigued. The first is Hawks, who will be the player, character and leader of Zero Company, an elite unit of hire made up for people from very different backgrounds. Scribed as a disgraced former Republic officer, hawks is fully customizable and will be in charge of putting together their new team, so it's a customizable character. Appear in charge of putting together their new team, so it's customizable character. Uh, parents, voice class are all customizable. Uh, there's multiple races to choose from as well, including uh, a twi'lek I don't know if I'm saying the right uh uh, a togruda and a zabrak um. They will be joined by trick, a cone trooper who served with hawks previously. They're clearly a damaged armor, high, serious injuries that occur in the same disaster that caused Hawks their promising career. Trick is described as a iconic wit, something he uses to defend as defense to hide the deep trauma he's been through. We also have Luca Bronk, an Umbrian sharpshooter who has clear issues with the Republic after their invasion of his homeworld, the invasion, and that was put. We've seen that invasion in the four episode arc in the Clone Wars show. It pushed many clone troopers to their breaking point, so they're eager to see how that works.

Speaker 1:

Another recruit is Sly Colero I don't know if I'm saying it right and they're a Mandalorian gunslinger, one of the last five members of the clan Verbenoth, an ancient Mandalorian clan never before seen in Star Wars. And finally, no team is complete without a Jedi and we will have uh tell, uh tell, ray vocas, uh. And they're a tongan f, jedi padawan, who agrees to help hawks to finish her fallen master's mission. Tongan f is not commonly seen species and it'd be interesting to learn more about their character and their people and their quests. I think they got pictures for each of the characters on over here. So this is, this is hawks, this is default hawks. So you know, uh, default white, default white man with a beard. So you know, don't gotta worry about too many people calling the game woke. Uh, let's see this. This must be Trick. And this is Luko. Yeah, because that's not Ralph, that's the Mandalorian character. Klai Is it Sly or Klai? I'm going to say Klai. And then we have the Jedi Padua, talria. Alright, then we got some gameplay.

Speaker 1:

Team dynamics is important. Different sides of the conflict it will come. There's no surprise. Squad members won't always get along at first. Sit them out on missions. Together will grow bonds between them, unlock new combat options for the team. This feels perfect. The Clone Wars an ideal setting for a turn-based Cinemata and Misters. Together will grow bonds between them, unlock new combat options for the team. They said, this feels perfect. The Clone Wars are an ideal setting for turn-based tactics. That's what it is. Turn-based tactics that's what the type is called. Both sides in conflict, evenly mastered by the challenge at every level. As the story unfolds, the characters' best years are revealed and they're eager to see more of the covert operations that they take place in. So there we have some brand new news on zero company. We will watch the trailer in the trailer section of our video, but for now, that is it for our video game section. Now let's, as always, we'll finish things off with our tv section.

Speaker 1:

So cbs has ordered the new fbi series cia, and tom ellis is set for the lead role. Y'all they remember him from, uh, it's called Lucifer right, the, the show where he played the devil. Yeah, which is funny because they greenlit this spinoff when they've already canceled FBI. We talked about this in the last news drop there. Uh, they canceled FBI for like the second or third time. It's just this time. This time it's official and after the cancellation we also now have they get a spinoff. I don't know how the hell you spin off a show you cancel, but hey, there you go. Um, so cbs is officially green lighting a new series in the fbi franchise focused on cia agents.

Speaker 1:

Tom ellis is attached for one of the two lead roles in the drama, which is currently simply titled cia, set to air in the 25 26 broadcast season. It was first reported to be in the works back in January, though at the time there were plans to have it begin as a backdoor pilot with characters to be introduced in a season of FBI. This is the logline. Cia is a one-hour crime drama centered on two unlikely partners a fast-talking, rule-breaking, loose-canon CIA case officer who's going to be played by Ellis, and a by-the-book, seasoned and smart FBI agent who believes in the rule of law. I guarantee you that's going to be played by a young white woman. That's how they usually do it in these shows. When this odd couple are assigned to work out of the CIA's New York station, they must learn to work together to investigate cases and criminals posing threats on US soil, finding that their differences may actually be their strength. Casting is currently ongoing. Dick Wolf and David Hudgens both write it. Executive producer Nicole Perlman, david Chastain and Peter Jankowski, with Hudgens as showrunner.

Speaker 1:

News comes of the pickup comes just two months after it was reported that both FBI Most Wanted and FBI International have been canceled at CBS. Fbi is currently in its first season of the three-season renewal it received in 2024. Three-season renewal Wait, what Didn't it get canceled? Received in 2024. Fixies Renewal Wait, what Didn't it get cancelled? Or did these get cancelled? Cbs is high on spending. It's existing franchises.

Speaker 1:

They're currently working on a spinoff of the Equalizer, which I think they originally can. That spinoff is a move forward and a spinoff of the multi-camp comedy neighborhood. That's still happening. And then they got Fire Country spinoff, sheriff Country, but spinoff. A bunch of fucking shows your fucking grandma and fucking grandpa watch at fucking 5 o'clock in the afternoon during dinner. So there you go. So there you go. So they renewed it. That was at the beginning of the month, but then they announced just recently that they got canceled. That's funny. Alright, moving on, we've got Holes, disney Plus pilot sets.

Speaker 1:

Main cast includes Greg Kinnear, aidy Bryant and Shea Rudolph. Since the main cast includes Greg Kinnear, aidy Bryant and Shea Rudolph, uh sets the main cast for the pilot of Holes. Uh, let's see. Like I said, greg Kinnear, aidy Bryant, shea Rudolph, floor Delis, alicia, uh, what? Aneer, kim Amonda? Uh, noah Contrell, contrell, and what? Anir, kim amonda? Uh, noah, contrail, con contrail, no, yeah, contrail, that was right. Coat, no, because no, in co-trail, noah, co-trail. Uh, aisha, daniels and so, and sophie deeterling, I'm fine. Budget these, these names, all of their television debuts. Alexandra Doak and Maeve Press are in there as well. I don't know half these fucking people.

Speaker 1:

Let's look at the synopsis for the show and character description. So, unlike the book Holes, the show will feature a female protagonist and mostly female characters, whereas the book follows teenager Stanley Yonetz as he is sent to a juvenile detention camp for boys in texas. Official law line of the show says that in this reimagining of the beloved 1998 book from lewis sachar, a teenage girl is sent to a detention camp where the ruthless warden, kaneer, forces the campers to dig holes for mysterious purposes. So they gender swap the whole thing. So now it's a girls camp, but now the warden is a male. Uh, disney brand television is behind the pilot. Alina mankin is writing and executive producing, with liz fang set as showrunner and executive producer. Uh, we got. Jack schaefer was directing truca jar. Blah, blah, blah. Uh produced twitter holes. You know that? Um, let's see. Okay, so no, greg kinnear is the warden. Uh, the boss at the camp, camp yuka. Uh, flair for manipulation and getting the upper hand on his campers who had a camp uh ideology to explain the virtue of having girls dig holes. But this is actually a rule. He was really forcing the girls to labor for a mysterious purpose, which we know. If they're still sticking to the original story. It's for him to find that treasure buried somewhere out there.

Speaker 1:

Eddie Bryant as Sissy, overflowing with camp counselor energy, she seems like a trustworthy big sister figure to the girls, but as a true believer of the world's philosophy, her allegiance lies with him. Um, that seems to be more closer to um. Fuck, what the hell is that? What the hell is our boy's name? He was the. He was the leader in brave new world. He was in fan forest and shit, what the? Yeah, what's his name? What the hell is his name? Tim blake nelson. There we go, there we go, there we go, there we go, there we go. Uh, yeah, she seems to be like the tim blake nelson from the movies. I I never read the books, I just know the movie, so I'm basing it on those characters. Uh, shay riddell is hayley. Hayley, rosa cam, you having been wrongly accused. So this is the stanley, full of heart and tired of her family's belief that fate is fixed, so they're keeping that. Her arrival at the camp will inject new hope and optimism into her camp.

Speaker 1:

Dates. A floor as queenie, tough queen b, a seemingly fearless leader whose heart edges cover pro vulnerability. Is that, uh, the nigga with the glasses from the movie thumbelina. So they all have the thumb, they all have the nicknames too, like in the movie and the books, bold and not scared of anything or anyone, not even the warden. No one controls. Kitch works in the kitchen at camp. He has a sticker for the rules, but will soon learn. There's a deeper reason. He's intent on maintaining his job. That's like a new character.

Speaker 1:

Mars is brainy, charismatic, no nonsense, a bit of a player among the queer female campers. Sticky is an ever-daydreaming, girly girl with a kind heart and abiding passion for clothes. But she can be serious and driven when she needs to Eyeball. The stevia zany artist, who used to wear her own idiosyncratic way, often lightens the mood with a joke. Shrimp is the youngest and smallest of the campers. Her unusual blunt nature makes her an outcast among the girls. So shrimp, I'm guessing, is going to be, uh, the zero in this. If I had to get, if I have to, if I have to take a guess, it seemed like they're gonna be the zero in this movie, in this show. So there you have it, the cast for the disney plus series holes.

Speaker 1:

Speaking of casting news, we also have the harry potter tv cast confirmed several roles at hbo. Uh, as time marches on, we appear, it appears we are really heading back to hogwarts. For years now, the tv series has been in development, hbo. Slowly, the project is beginning to gather steam and I was fighting even more with a raft of official casting. All right, so we know.

Speaker 1:

John Lithgow has been cast as Dumbledore. Nick Nick Frost will be joining as keeper of the keys. Hagrid okay, papa Isenu, we know, is going to be service Snape. Janet McTeer will be playing Gryffindor, house of Head. Uh, miss McGonagall. Luke Fallon will be the defensive. It's a dark arch teacher.

Speaker 1:

Professor Quirley, that's the guy who had. Uh, is that the dude who had the fucking? Uh, who had, um, the head in the back of his head, the face in the back of his head? Uh, paul Whitestone will be caretaker. Argus Finch, that's the nigga with the cat. Uh, would delight us to have such extraordinary talent on board below the catch life.

Speaker 1:

Okay, okay, so we got a few more, we got a lot of the staff here. I don't know we do. Mcconnell, I don't know. I know who nick frosty is as state. That's kind of, that's kind of perfect. Um, luke fallon, I don't know who that is. Uh, nope, no idea who this dude is. What's he? What? What have they done? Those are done, okay, they're most of them theater, okay, and they're gonna be professor crook. Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. Look at him. Yeah, he looks like that guy. I can see him with the fucking, with the wrap around his head. The both of guys are guns. Replace that with the with the magic wand. If it's him, he fits in here perfectly. Uh, paul whitehouse I don't know who that is either. Yeah, I don't know him. British actor fashion yeah, okay, a british actor, okay, yeah, they're. They're finch, right, yeah, they're finch, okay, all right, cool.

Speaker 1:

The new series fresh is a fresh adaption of the books, likely including details. They're Finch, right, yeah, they're Finch, okay, alright, cool. And the new series is a fresh adaption of the books, likely including details that didn't hit the screen in their major film adaptions, unknown when it's shooting, but the casting is a sign of major pieces to be put. I feel like we still don't have the um, we still don't have the students yet, which is very interesting, which kind of goes that they're really they're. They're probably doing a very wide, very in-depth, detailed casting of the kids, which I like because that was one of the biggest and one of the most successful things of the movies is that they is that they cast the kids uh very well, all right, and we got a shit ton of star wars news. So I'm gonna go through these, as we're probably gonna both through these a little bit faster as Uber, but, like literally all of these last like five stories is all Star Wars stuff, alright, so. So we've got Star Wars series is coming from Carmen Cruz and his son, nick Cruz, and that's in the works. If y'all don't know, carmen Cruz is one of the co-writers and co-creators of lost. Uh, yeah, the lost showrunner is taking the journey to the star wars galaxy with his son at his side. The studio is in early development on star wars series for lucasfilm, um, so no new news on it just yet, but they are writing it. Uh, if you're interested, uh, karen cruz, carlton cues, his uh credits the cool baseball tale, the string jack r Jack Ryan and Netflix's most recent released post. Nick Q's worked with his father's with Damon Lindelof on Watchmen and the Leftovers, and his credits all include Station Eleven and Masters of the Air. So if you're familiar with any of those shows, that might give you excitement or maybe some. I haven't seen any of them, massage walls or some hesitance on what the new show could be. Um, so, yeah, not too much is known about that just yet, but we just know they're writing something for star wars.

Speaker 1:

Uh, and some bigger news though hayden christensen is confirmed to return as anakin skywalker in season two of ahsoka. Um, is this my butt? This is jordan again. I know, as soon as I said, as soon as I seen a yipp here, I was like this is Jordan, nene, and it's totally is Jordan, the only, is Jordan the king, the only fucking writer for Empire? I guess I swear every Empire article I get, they write it Uh, all right. So the Rosario Dawson, of course, uh, uh, rebels and the Ghost Crew fall into live action. But now we got um.

Speaker 1:

But for many, the peak of Ahsoka was Hayden Christmas' reappearance as the chosen one and as Skywalker. And for those people, this is where the fun begins, because etiquette will be back for season two. Um, I'm gonna. I feel like.

Speaker 1:

I feel like this new iteration of Star Wars stuff is really trying to uh for lack of a better term really trying to do justice for the stars of the sequel trilogy, because you know that wasn't received the greatest, uh, back then. So I feel like they're really trying to uh do some things. I'm gonna turn my lights on, because I forgot to turn my lights on because I was just using the natural light from the window. So let me turn my lights on real quick, all right, because you know that sun's getting real low, all right. But, yeah, it seemed like they're really trying to give, uh, give them their due. We had, um, because we had the obi-wan series. Um, I'm blanking on his name old boy who played Jar Jar had an appearance in one of the Star Wars shows as a Jedi. So that's cool. Um, okay, actually this is here. This is another story that I had right here, but you know we're going to talk about it right now.

Speaker 1:

Uh, they also recast. Uh, rory McCain has been recast as Balon Skull after the uh, the unfortunate passing of Ray Stevenson, who played the character in the first season. So the Game of Thrones actor is taking on the reins and we'll play him in season two of Ahsoka here. So there you go. Talk about anything else, if they can talk about all kinds of shit. That'd save me a lot of time. Before I start shooting, I'll show you a mock trailer in the vein of Empire Strikes Back's 90s, 80s concept. Teaser confirmation of the ghost crew Ezra Bridger, mary Elizabeth, hera and Sabine will be back in season 2. That's all callbacks to Star Wars Rebels for now. That's about as much as they talked about for season two, or as much as they were willing to talk about.

Speaker 1:

So a lot of ahsoka news, a lot of so good, I haven't watched ahsoka. Um, I know I don't have to, but I'm one of those people where it's like, if I watch the show, I want to. I want to be able to understand and get all the callbacks, all the, all, the, all the mentions and all that shit, so like. And I've been wanting to watch clone wars for years. I just haven't gotten around to watching it yet. So I want to watch the core series, to get everything about ahsoka and everything leading up to the show. So I like watch the clone war show and the movie. And then, of course, I gotta watch Rebels too. So I don't know when I'll ever get around to watching all those, but yeah, so, uh, we talked about that.

Speaker 1:

Um, we also got some news on Vision season three. We got a release date. Uh, the Night of the Jedi standalone series. Uh, this is their anthology, their animated anthology series that they do for for it. Uh, so he was just supposed to be a passing. He was just supposed to be passing by, but Ronan, the former Sith Lord character who appeared in the first season of the animated anthology series Star Wars Visions, will be returning in the third season which debuts on October 29th this year. We know it came from that Confirmed that three of the most popular storylines from the first season of the show, which is the duel, the village bride and the ninth Jedi, will be continuing in the upcoming third volume of the episode.

Speaker 1:

So we got a little sequel, little follow-ups, in season three here. I feel like since I got up and sat back down, my chair probably lowered Probably 100%. True, all right. They also teased a bold new direction for Visions with the introduction of Vision Presents banner, which gives the filmmakers a chance to tell deeper, more long form stories without the constraints of the shorter run time of the typical Visions episode. The first one is going to be the spin off the 9th Jedi, which is going to come out in 2026. The dual payback will be directed by Mizuno from anime studio Kamikaze Doga. The Lost Ones is a follow-up to the Vixen. Bride Night of the Jedi is a follow-up to A Child of Hope. The running character from the Duel is going to be quite popular with Star Wars fans around the world as far as statues and even a Hasbro Black Series figure.

Speaker 1:

All right, that's more talk of Joe Vision's concept. It's really from the passion of the animated medium, focused on Japanese anime and for first and third volumes I think we've deeply admired the craftsman that brings such great storytelling animation, and so we were talking about how we could celebrate that, ended up coming with a concept really focused on anime and really focused on celebrating star wars through anime perspectives uh, through the idea of giving japanese culture a spotlight within star wars and its influence in star wars in general. That's. That's pretty cool. It's because it took place in japan. The the star wars celebration uh, it's a book collection of non-canon animated shorts created by different japanese animation took place in Japan. The Star Wars celebration it's a book created a collection of non-canon animated shorts created by different Japanese animation studios featuring different animation styles.

Speaker 1:

The lack of restrictions led to wildly imaginative interpretations of Star Wars mythos and proved incredibly popular with fans and critics alike, which is what we need more of. We need more stuff that takes place outside of the fucking Skywalker, stuff, when it takes place way before or way after the the movies, all right, and next up we also got maul. Uh, shadow lord, uh, it's gonna star sam with sam whitworth. Um, and it's gonna be about darth maul. Uh, the star wars franchise is blah, blah, blah. Okay, yeah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah out of the universe. Okay, we know, I know what star wars is, bro, all right, uh, but look like fans can anticipate at least one more animated series to join the mix of star wars. The mall shadow lore just announced the voice actor, sam whitworth, who was voicing maul in all his animated appearances over the years. I did not know that. Uh, with where.

Speaker 1:

Who stars darth maul in the new series revealed to ign that not only where shadow lord falls in the overall star wars timeline, but also maul's headspace at this point, uh, a year after the clone wars ended, uh, is a very challenging place because the people that he had around him a lot of them scattered or betraying him during the clone wars. So we're dealing with a guy who's trying to figure out. Well, my god, what's my purpose? Maul, you have to remember he's a classically trained force user, a classically trained sith. Uh, let's see any.

Speaker 1:

Any news about more like the actual show is shaped by his upbringing. Something else he was trained his entire life to hate and kill jedi, and he killed more and more jedi than people were aware of in the clone wars. Uh, how does he feel about the jedi sworn enemy? How does he feel about them now they are gone? All these things are challenging this perspective. So what is his destiny? What is, what is who he is without his greatest enemy to fight and destroy. And he learns that perhaps part of his destiny is to inspire a young person. Training an apprentice, apprentice oh, they're going. The whole grizzled, badass main character who now has to look after a younger subordinate. The Joel and Ellie, the Mando and Grogu route they're going with for this one. The Kratos and Atreides route. They're going with here.

Speaker 1:

Anything about the actual show, let's talk about the character. But I haven't seen too much talking about the show like what's it gonna be about? All right, whatever, all right. So we got a darth maul show coming up as well. It's an animated show, so that'd be cool. There you go, all right. So with that, that is it for the uh the podcast, at least you know. After this, we're gonna watch some trailers, uh. Hopefully we can keep a majority of them on here if we don't get copyright struck, uh, but yeah, so of course, this is where the audio portion ends.

Speaker 1:

Audio listeners, thank you all so much for listening. I very much do appreciate it. So very much. Uh, if you feel so inclined, hop on over to the youtube so you can spot out and check out some of these trailers we're watching here today as well. But if not, I still appreciate you watching uh very much. So make sure you check out some of the other episodes of the podcast. Uh, all the past news drops, if you care about them, um, and all the other stuff we got on here too. We upload for both uh the channel and audio realm, so a lot of the stuff you get on the youtube is in the audio form as well. So check out all that stuff. So, audio listeners, until next time. Always remember to stay watching, to stay playing, to stay awesome and, most importantly, to stay safe out there. All right, until next time. I will speak to you all later. Speak to you all later. Good bye.
