News Drop Ep. 47: Avengers Cast, Snow White, Nintendo Direct, One Piece & More
Marvel just upended the superhero landscape with their Avengers: Doomsday cast reveal, bringing back not just the expected MCU characters but a shocking array of original X-Men actors from the 20th Century Fox universe. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, and Alan Cumming will all reprise their iconic roles alongside Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Doctor Doom rather than Iron Man.
The five-hour livestream announcement confirmed the Fantastic Four and Thunderbolts teams will feature prominently, while surprisingly omitting Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and the Guardians of the Galaxy. This Earth-focused approach suggests we might be heading toward an "Avengers vs. X-Men" scenario, with Tom Hiddleston's Loki potentially holding a pivotal role in navigating the multiverse chaos.
Beyond Marvel's bombshell, we cover Disney's Snow White box office disappointment ($42.2M domestic opening against a $250M budget), Coco 2's announcement for 2029, and Assassin's Creed Shadows becoming Ubisoft's second-biggest launch despite online controversy. The gaming world got more good news with Game Informer magazine returning under new ownership with its original team intact, while Nintendo Direct revealed numerous upcoming Switch titles and confirmed an April 2nd presentation for the Switch 2.
In television news, One Piece co-showrunner Matt Owens steps down after season 2 to focus on mental health, American Dad may return to Fox after a decade at TBS, and Linda Cardellini has been cast as Pamela Voorhees in the Friday the 13th prequel series Crystal Lake.
Whether you're excited about Doctor Doom's arrival, curious about Nintendo's next releases, or looking forward to Digimon's new anime, this comprehensive entertainment roundup has something for every film, gaming, and TV enthusiast.

hello, all you awesome people out there. Welcome, or welcome back to geek vids entertainment, the one place dedicated to the big three of visual media film, video games, television and, of course, the nerdy aspect of all three, even though all three are basically nerdy nowadays. Anyway, I'm your host, as always, hoover, and we are back with a brand new edition of News Drop bringing you those news stories this one covers mostly here from mid to end of march of 2025 here, um, I know it's been a while. I was. I was literally going to record this the day before today. I'm recording this on the 27th. I was literally going to record it yesterday, on the 26th, but I kind of got bailed out, luckily, uh, because two stories that happened that were pretty damn big, that we're going to be talking about here today. I'll get to them when I get to them, but I'm lucky I didn't, because we had two big, major things and I'd be pissed if I didn't have those when we talk about here today. But yeah, so this is when I deliver just the big news, big news stories coming here from our big three, as well as looking over some trailers for our youtube counterparts, for our video people, for audio people.
Speaker 1:You can listen to this in the audio realm. That's spotify, uh, apple podcast, google podcast. Wherever you listen to your podcast, you get this in the audio format, all there. Feel free to check out the podcast. Give your boy review, comment, let him know how he's doing. But, of of course, if you want to, you can jump on over to YouTube to get the video aspect so you can watch these trailers with me as well, as we look over those as well today.
Speaker 1:So let's talk about what we are going to be going over with in this episode of News Drop here today, shall we All right? So today we are going to be talking about we got snow white's opening weekend, as well as some other box office returns. Uh, coco has a sequel in the works. We'll talk about there. We got a big casting from uh music sensation lizzo um. We've got, uh, some news on a brand new video game movie coming out. Uh, very soon, I might add, as well. Uh, and then, of course, the big news. One of the big news is that came out yesterday. Uh, marvel decided to drop the cast for avengers doomsday. That is currently now in production. That's everything we got on the film side for video games. We'll be talking about the initial sales for assassin's creed shadows, which dropped the last week or two weeks ago.
Speaker 1:At this point, I believe, is Game Informer coming back? It looks like it. We got some news on that as well. We got some news on some God of War anniversary content. Digimoncon happened, so we'll be talking about that. It kind of spills over from both TV and some video game stuff there, so it's kind of crossing off both. And then we also have the other thing that was pretty big here Nintendo had dropped a direct this morning, so we'll be going over what was revealed and talked about there. And then for TV, we'll be talking about some news on the Cap Crystal Lake TV show, an exit from the Netflix One Piece live action show. We got some hosts, we got the hope we know who's going to be the host of the bath. For tv awards, we got to talk about a little bit for inventable season four and we'll be talking about is american dad going back to fox? So that is all of our news we'll be talking about here today.
Speaker 1:So without further ado, let's jump right into the news. As I once again fight with my goddamn chair a little bit, give me a minute. All right, all right, all right. So, starting things off, we got box office. Snow White links to an alarming forty two point two million domestic opening, limps to an alarming 42.2 million domestic opening, 86 million globally um, what's this? The news is far worse for warner brothers. Oh, we got some warner brothers slander in this too. Uh, deniro's mob drama, alto knights and jonathan midges magazine both bombed, oh my god. So we don't just got support return for snow white, we also got some wb slander. Y'all already know it is fuck wb over here. So you know, already know, we don't talk about that slander.
Speaker 1:All right, trouble is brewing for the controversy late in snow white, the live action remake of the iconic 1937 animated film that put wild disney film empire on the map. I just watched the animated film very recently on disney plus. I've been trying to get through all of. Like the classic Disney animated films. Did not know that shit was dropped in 1937. That's insane.
Speaker 1:All right, the Tempo film opens at $42.2 domestically Enough for a first place finish, but behind even the most modest of expectations, after getting battered by a so-so audience. Scores and underwhelming reviews according to the final week in actuals. Scores and underwhelming reviews according to the final weekend actuals. So it's less than the estimated 43 million and is also less than uh dumbo, which came in at 45 million back in 2019. Over overseas, it took home 43.3 million, so it's launched to a 86.1 million globally after hoping to clear 100 million. Uh, sunday's estimate was just north of $87 million globally, so it came in just short of what it was projected to make. The good news, though the $250 million production still had no trouble winning the weekend. It had very little competition. It does have Minecraft coming out in a couple weeks, on April 4th.
Speaker 1:The female-skewing film is over to emulate the pace and tempo of Mufasa, the Lion King, which debuted to $35 million. Who wanted this? By the way? Oh yeah, I know Stars Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot. They'll track it to open just another 50. Although Disney has been conservative in putting out a range of 45 to 55, even though 43 million, it is the second biggest opening of the year behind brave new world um, which plays number three in its sixth weekend with 4.1 million, and that's how you know this weekend was slow, fucking cap. Fourth cap came in third in its sixth weekend only four million, but that has crossed the 400 million dollar mark globally and a domestic queue of 192 million.
Speaker 1:So hey, I told y'all, captain, america ain't doing that bad of all people who shouldn't on it. So so white is a rare disney live actually made to earn just a b plus from audiences. Almost every film has received some variation of an a. That's kind of crazy. Remember that the whole spiel I had about a brave new world being a b and that's being low. The fact that this is they all kind of get it a. It's kind of wow.
Speaker 1:Um, loaded with baggage, after being buffed by delays and controversy. Uh, beginning with a backlash over zegler in the middle of the road, because the color of her skin and she's columbian, uh, her also no secret of her support of the palestinian people. Uh, and then gado, who's israeli, for marks of regarding the gaza, the gaza conflict. So, yeah, I knew about all this shit. Um, I'm be like I said, I've I don't know if I mentioned it on camera before my knowledge of the Middle Eastern stuff, of the Palestine, israeli thing, my knowledge is nowhere near enough for me to comment or, you know, stand behind one or the other. So I kind of talk about it.
Speaker 1:I know that's a very touchy subject. Um, I know the big thing is being uh rachel zegler, um being uh colombian and brown-skinned um supposed to be playing a character named snow white. Um, now, I've very much been a? An advocate, for I don't really give a shit about race changing a character, as long as that change has no effect into the core of who they are. As a character and I can't lie, snow White might be low key, one of the might low key be a, be a, be a far left field um example of um, you're probably shouldn't did it like her whole thing is the fact that the whole reason the, the queen is upset with her is because her beauty can be greater than the queen's and because her skin is supposed to be, uh, as white and as fair as snow. I don't think that's as white as this. I don't think that's as white and as fair as snow. I don't know about y'all, that's what, that's what I Also.
Speaker 1:It's supposed to be like a whole thing of like oh, we want to be more inclusive, which, again, I am fully an advocate for. Representation is vitally important, but they do it for this. But then the whole thing was they also didn't cast actual dwarves to play dwarves in the movie, was. They also didn't cast actual dwarves to play dwarves in the movie and it was because they still had their doors played kind of like that, the, the storybook, you know blanket term of doors living in hovels and shit. I believe that's why peter dinklage was like I don't know why they would do that, like you're gonna do it, like, go all the way with it like, you know, hire actual doors but also don't make them just like the, the, you know, just like that, so that that's a whole weird term.
Speaker 1:Also, you know, this might be very uh what's the word I'm thinking of? Uh, this, this might be extremely misogynistic, I will admit right out the gate. But I mean, you know, the the queen is supposed to fear that Snow White could be more beautiful than her, which I, I guess. I guess I can't be upset. That's a little besides. Just it's like the whole point of the whole thing. But you got Gal Gadot, a character who looks like Gal Gadot was supposed to be jealous. I can't lie. The funniest thing I've seen with somebody, the funniest thing I saw with somebody, said they had her out here looking like Disney, had an old girl out here looking like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I had to think about the trailer and I was like bro, that shit is kind of true, oh, yeah, oh. But yeah, it's like you know, yeah, you know like the the supermodel, but hey, as you speak, all right, but that's just it.
Speaker 1:So snow white is it off to? Isn't off to a good start? Actually, let's, before we jump into the rest of it, let's, let's go in here and see. Let's see where it's at as we stand today. I think it's about to enter what its second weekend. Right now, it's going to go very slow because of the VPN, all right. Well, while that's loading, let's go ahead and get dressed. Let's get to this. Let's get to this wb slander, though, all right. Uh.
Speaker 1:The weekend was far worse for other movies, though. Warner brothers movie the alto knights bombed on its uh in its opening to an estimated 3.2 million from about 2 000 plus over 2 500 theaters in north america and a mere $1.5 globally, against a $45 million budget. Yeesh. It's one of the first movies greenlit by Zaslav after yeah, fuck, dude after Warner Bros Discovery was formed in 2022. Stars Robert De Niro in dual roles of New York City mob boss Frank Costello and Vito Genovese. It's been panned by critics. Directed by Barry Lev levinston, script by nicholas peggy polighi. And then actor jonathan major's hopeful comeback pick magazine dreams I remember that got shelved after his um, after this shit happened with him cracked only 700 000 in his debut in about 800 plus theaters uh, yeah, he got shellled.
Speaker 1:Following his legal troubles uh, the 2023 sundance film darling was later picked up by oscar-winning distributor tom ortenberg for his barcliff entertainment struggling, struggling, w, still struggling, w, still struggling. Bethany upper reach of the charge let's see. Black bag pays his second in its second weekend with four million. Uh, that's grossed about about 15 million domestically, uh, mickey 17 came in number four with 3.9 million. We talked about that in our last news drop. That's been struggling too. I forgot that was a one of us thing too. That actually looks pretty dope, though.
Speaker 1:This third outing is domestic is currently 40.2 million, uh, and in paramount's nova king with 3.8 for 10 day cumul 15.8 million. It's not bad that, for that seems like a fairly more lower budget movie. Oh, come on now I don't do it, don't do this to me while recording. Let's see if I and that man there it goes, there it goes all right. So tuesday it looked like it made another four million. It's currently sitting up at 42 million worldwide.
Speaker 1:Let's see, hopefully. See, we are. Why are you taking me all the way here? I don't think I added this week just yet. Okay, let's see my Monday, just to do it for. So it's been in theater for five days now, so it's all it's almost a week up.
Speaker 1:Let's see 60 million on a Friday, 15 million on a Saturday, 10 million, two men on Tuesday for me, I see, I see that I see them. $10 million, $2 million on Tuesday. I see that. $5 Tuesday, still raking in bank. So it's still been known pretty. It's still been the number one movie every day. But it's currently sitting at just under $50 million.
Speaker 1:How much did they say? It was $250. 250, 250 million and it made it 42. So it made 42 opening weekend and it so far has only made like another 4 million in theaters since the opening weekend. Another 4 million in theaters since the opening weekend. Well, another 6 million. So we'll see. What competition does it have next weekend? I don't think it has anything this weekend, does it? It doesn't have anything. Let's see. Now leave me alone. Let's see. Working man is coming out. I don't think there's's gonna be any competition, for it might still beat it because it's new. This don't help. Don't help at all. Is this out? I forgot about that one. All right, whatever. All right. So yeah, snow white off to a, uh, a pretty pretty, uh disappointing weekend coming in under projections. We'll see how it goes and it's uh, the rest of its life has released. All right.
Speaker 1:Next up, we've got coco 2 is in the works at disney and pixar ahead of a planned 2029 release. Damn, that's a long ass way away. All right, we're heading back to the land of the dead as, foregoing the kind of pomp and ceremony that would ordinarily herald a pixar film announcement, bob eiger used the company's annual shareholders meeting to uh announce that coco 2 was in early development. Directors lee uh on kirk and adrian melina both on board to return for the film. So coco to coco it was is one of my favorite, like recent disney movies.
Speaker 1:Like I ain't gonna front to y'all, I'm a grown ass man, I cried in this movie. I ain't. I ain't ashamed to admit it. Thank you, vpn. I had a shame to admit it. I'll, I'll fucking love this movie so much, so I'm glad to see it's coming back. Uh, it's still very early, so it's probably not too much to talk about.
Speaker 1:Uh, half a decade stated between now and our return of no idea how they will continue the story, or even if it's going to be miguel's story the main character in the first one. Given the poignance of the original Oscar-winning film's touching denouncement, we wouldn't be surprised to see the directorial duo broaden their afterlife horizons the second time around. I could see that. I could see the second one sort of being a different main character with a different problem, but at the same time could you call it Coco too, because the whole thing was. Coco was his grandmother's name, remember? Yeah, that was his grandmother's name. Who didn't know that? Uh, oh, boy was. Uh, their grandfather didn't abandon them. Her father didn't abandon them. That was the whole story. But, yeah, coco too was in development. Um, you know, if it's 2029, you know shit, I'm going to be older, you know damn near older, and be a grown ass man Knocking kids out the way in the theater when it comes out to go see it.
Speaker 1:All right, next up, we got kind of a slow news day for the movies before the big Avengers thing, but Lizzo was to play rock and roll. Pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharp in Rosetta for Amazon, mgm Studios. Four time Grammy winner Lizzo will be taking significant. Kevin Blister, significant productions. Nini Yang uh, bon Jovi and Forrest Whitaker are producing. Uh, natalie uh Chides and Quinn Perry are writing. So I don't know if we got anything other, any other cast members just yet? All right, so without thought, there'll be no rock and roll.
Speaker 1:Her influence on popular music spans decades and includes elvis, chuck berry, little richard, johnny cash, bob dylan and countless others. Inspired by true events, the film will capture a pivotal period in thorpe's life, one of groundbreaking innovation, defiant passion and secret love. As she shatters musical boundaries with her signature guitar sound, she must navigate societal constraints consider her love for another woman, oh, and ultimately transform a wedding into one of the most legendary concerts in history, the first stadium show. Okay. So not only is this so, uh, that's a hey, that's a damn, that's a damn good. Uh, triple threat you could be doing there, woman, black, gay, back in the day, when all that shit was not cool, was not okay.
Speaker 1:Singer-songwriter and writer and thespian, thespian Lizzo I ain't saying she ain't, that was the first time I've heard that word used to describe her. She knocked two number one hits in the Billboard okay, platinum, multi-platinum, made history in 22 or 23, when she emerged as the flagged black woman to receive record of the year at the Grammy Awards since 1989 for the double album About Damn Time. Prior to that, she did the charts with the 7 million seller to 2 hertz, down to the charts and hot 100 for 7 weeks. Alright, and this is just stuff about Lizzo. So, yeah, another documentary movie.
Speaker 1:Like I said, I didn't know, I I've never heard of rosetta tharp before before this. Um, but yeah, like I said, damn good, triple threat to for a person to make a movie on black woman entering the world of rock and roll, but also, uh, secretly in the closet. That's some drama right there. All right, before we move on, I don't know why. This is the breaking, breaking news, everybody, if you care, uh, sundance is leaving utah to have it in colorado. Now, I did say blue state colorado, so I don't know if, um, if political, uh, things have changed.
Speaker 1:As the player reason as to why it is, it's gonna take a long time to load, all right, moving on, uh, split fiction movie is in the works. A bidding war begins for the rights to adapt the hit video game. It's kind of crazy because this game has only been out for like what? Three weeks now. So it's kind of crazy that this damn thing is already. They already have a movie in the works it to to have it go up. So that's crazy. All right, the film adaption of split fiction, the hot new co-op game from it, takes two developer hazelight studios is in the works.
Speaker 1:Variety has learned sources at the game developers conference, gdc in san francisco has confirmed that the media company Story Kitchen, about the team that Shepard it Takes Two into a film project now set up at Amazon. It Takes Two movie as well. What the fuck? It's putting together the film's cast, writers and director into a package as offers for the rights keep coming down in multiple Hollywood top studios. So it's very early. They're putting together a team to develop a script, put some names to it and hopefully sells this to somebody who will want to produce it and distribute it. A Variety which is on the ground at GSC this week is continuing to monitor the bidding war with more details on budget to come. So very early, very early. Hazelight and Story Kitchen did not respond.
Speaker 1:Um, but yeah, so we all know split fiction is the next co-op game from haze light two. Two women uh ends up getting drawn into like a world, one likes sci-fi, one likes fantasy. So they play through the, their original stories themselves as they jump between each world and do a shit like that. So it's cool. It's crazy that this thing is already getting a movie and the game just came out. So that's cool, all right.
Speaker 1:And, like I mentioned, uh, breaking news Sundance, essex, utah, for the uh 2027 move to blue state, colorado. Uh, after 40 years of Sundance film festivals leaving park city for a new and lucrative home in baldy, colorado. Uh, they've been telling us for months. The rocky mountain metropolitan has, bitch, has been in pole position over the united utah bid and the efforts of cincinnati, ohio, since robert redford founded cinema celebration revealed the trio of finalists last september. Okay, so they've been planning on moving for a while, but it just came down to uh, who was getting it coming out of.
Speaker 1:Two consecutive years of sunday has been canceled for in-person screenings due to the pandemic, an overwhelmed park city, seismic shifts in the industry and the sun and sundance institute executive musical chairs. The festival is looking for a dramatic reset and look at, okay, so they've been having issues because they couldn't do it in person, because the pandemic, the city itself has been going through some shit. And then the industry itself. I've mentioned this multiple times before. After whatchamacallit, the pandemic theaters have kind of been struggling and it seems like the Sundance Institute itself has been having some issues To that the official unveiling in April last year that Sundance was taking has been having some issues. So to that, the official unveiling April last year that Sundance was taking bids from contenders across the nation was inedible, as in many ways, the selection of Boulder for a 10 year long contract. All right, so move from Utah, moving to Boulder.
Speaker 1:I didn't even know they were in one spot for that log. I shouldn't know that. I'm supposed to be. I'm supposed to be a film guy. I supposed to be a. I'm supposed to be a film guy, I'm supposed to know this. All right.
Speaker 1:And of course, what we all came here for which you all clicked on this video for, I would hope, yesterday, on the 26th, marvel held a live stream where they basically announced all I'm not gonna say all, but they announced a plethora of actors who are going to be involved in avengers doomsday, the upcoming avengers movie that is now currently in production. And let me just say this shit was wild. It was like a five-hour live stream where they just had a shot of, like the actors, production chairs, with their names on the back. Uh, my dumb ass was there for damn near all five hours, all five and a half hours, just just for them to put the shit in a minute and a half long video after, after it was over. Uh, but no, I had it on in the background as I was doing other shit, so it was like you know whatever. So, yeah, here's a list, but I'm gonna take it in a very interesting way. A list, but I'm gonna take it in a very interesting way. So they announced names.
Speaker 1:So, um, the big, the biggest things are, um, the the whole of the fantastic four. So vanessa kirby, iban mouse, baccarat, joseph quinn and pedro pascal are all returning for avengers doomsday. I feel like that was a little to no surprise. Uh, then the entire group of the thunderbolts are returning in this as well. We got sebastian stan wyatt russell uh, florence plu, pew. I don't know why I keep saying an l florence, florence, pew. David harbour, hannah john common uh, I think I skipped out areas. Lewis pullman, um, and uh, hannah john came and so we got the entirety of the Thunderbolts are going to be in this as well. No, um, no Taskmaster though, which I think is what everybody was thinking is Taskmaster is probably gonna die in the movie, or something which might be true, because they're present in all the promotional stuff.
Speaker 1:So all the fantastic for all of the Thunderbolts. We also got kind of um. And then our regular characters. We got Chris Hemsworth's Thor is coming back. Anthony DeMachie, captain America, paul Rudd, ant-man. We've got Tanaka, wernicke's Namor, letitia Wright, black Panther, simu Liu's Shang-Chi is coming back, dana Romero's Falcon, winston Duke's Mubaku. Tom Hiddleston's loki is coming back. I'm very excited about that, very interested in that.
Speaker 1:But of course, the biggest and most surprising angle that was announced in this casting was we have a slew of the original cast members from 20th Century Fox's original X-Men run. So we got Kelsey Grammer's Beast, patrick Stewart's Professor Xavier, ian McKellen's Magneto, alan Cummings' Nightcrawler, who hasn't appeared since fucking X-Men 2. We got Rebecca Romijn's Mystique, the original Mystique, the Mystique with cheeks. James Marsden's Cycl cyclops, which I got very excited for, and then a very shocking one, channing tatum's gambit, who, of course, has only existed within deadpool and wolverine, but we do know that was that cut scene or additional scene, or whatever that showed that he was the only survivor in the fight and a dr strange portal open, so he's gonna come through it.
Speaker 1:So, yes, a lot, a lot of characters, and of course, they capped the whole thing off with the obvious one, robert downey jr, coming back. Um, it's dr, dr, dr doom, so that's cool there. So we get a shit ton of characters coming back for this, um, a very scattered bunch of avengers. I'm very interested to see how that is going to work out, especially like chris hemsworth's thor is very interesting to me. I'm going to go on a tangent for a little bit, because I was going to do this as a separate video, but I'm like, oh fuck it, we'll just add it into this. Uh, so clearly the fantastic four and the thunderbolts are going to be a big role in this. We have some scattered remains of like Avengers, ant-man, black Panther, captain America, falcon Shang-Chi is new, but we got some scattered remains of like the heroes we know and the new heroes and shit. Very interesting, though chris hemsworth thor the only, first of all, one of the only like three surviving currently. Uh, avenge, original avengers, the only one slated to come back. Not only is it just him, but he's also the only cosmic angle we have coming back as well. There's no Guardians at all. No Captain Marvel, no, ms Marvel I can never remember old girl's name. She plays Monica Rambeau. She wasn't announced in this either, so it does make me think that this is very much going to be a earth-based, grounded thing, like most of this is going to take place on earth. We aren't really going to do much in terms of space.
Speaker 1:Um, definitely, I've been, I've been on the fence about this for the longest time, but I know a lot of people have been saying it. But now with this, it definitely seems like we might, we just might. It definitely seems likely we're getting some kind of iteration of, like avengers versus x-men, because this is a lot of x-men characters they have announced in this. So it might be getting some of that, or at least that world, that universe, that that 20th century fox's x-men universe is going to be very present in this movie, probably an accursed event. The world's going to collide and it's going to be that world. So that's very cool. Uh, I'm interested to see how characters like namor fit into all this, how shang chi fits into it. Um, you know, because they've kind of they haven't really been around too much, uh, since those movies. So I'm very interested to see how they fit into all this. Um, if we're getting mubaku and shuri, we might get a small thing in wakanda, very small, but yeah, I'm very interested.
Speaker 1:And then, of course, the biggest thing is the amount of people who were not announced to be popping up in this, at least in at least in this initial announcement. Of course, there might be some people that they just keep it under wraps, they're not announcing them, they're keeping them secret. But they might just be there. You know, we know, we've seen the reports that haley atwell supposed to be coming back back. Chris Evans might be popping up as well. I think they might just be keeping those under wraps and quiet, leaving them for a surprise when the actual movie's there. Give me some water real quick, um.
Speaker 1:And then, of course, just any other small cameos you might see I still don't, I still don't think we should count those out any small cameos from other characters. You know what I'm talking like, you know not saying for sure, but like nicholas cage's ghost rider, ben affleck's daredevil, you know characters like that who might pop up in some kind of small cameo or mention or anything. But, yeah, the characters who aren't here are very interesting. I mentioned there's no cosmic representation in this at all. Thor is like the only one. But, yeah, no Guardians. Also no Chris Pratt. No Peter Quill, who we know after Guardians 3 is back on Earth, so no him. That's very interesting. No Marvels they aren't in here at all, so that's very interesting. No Doctor Strange. Not even a Wong was announced in this as well, so none of them. No Hawks either. So no Mark Ruffalo. No Tatiana. No Harrison Ford None of them. No Jeremy Renner, no Haley Steinfeld. So I don't know where we're going to be with that Young Avengers champions thing, how that's going to fit, and I think, like with everybody else. Very sad they didn't announce like a Charlie Cox as daredevil popping up in this as well, but we'll have to see. So, yeah, a lot, of, a lot of people are absent. A lot of people.
Speaker 1:Um, of course, the biggest thing, tom Holland, spider-man, also not announced in this as well. Uh, I think that's kind of an obvious one. Spider-man four is coming out, uh, before doomsday. So Spider-Man 4 is coming out before Doomsday. So they probably didn't put him in this to kind of keep us on our toes for what might happen at the end of Spider-Man 4. You know, to kind of not give it away that you know he's going to be in this and when he comes out of it he's still going to be there, still going to be present and popping up in this, so to kind of keep us in the dark, at least in terms of where spider-man is going to be by the end of that movie. That's why they probably didn't put him in there at all.
Speaker 1:I will say one thing I do find interesting um, no, fam k jensen, who played uh gene in the original x-men as well I thought her name was definitely coming up after James Mars's name came up so interested that we don't get a Jean Grey. But of course, as we all know, sadie Sink just got cast in Spider-Man 4, her role is a mystery right now, but we're all speculating she's either Mary Jane or Jean Grey. So the fact that we don't have a Jean Grey puppet in this one, maybe, maybe also no Ryan Reynolds, no hugh jackman I think that's definitely gonna be something that they try to keep under wraps and close to the chest. Uh, and then, of course, like I said, this is just doomsday. We already know secret wars is right after this and I expect probably a shit ton more people are going to be popping up in that one. Which makes tom holland, returning as loki, very, very interesting in what role he plays within all this. You know he kind of exists right now outside the multiverse holding it all together. So he might be, because because in the comics it was, it was reed on a small ship with a select few heroes that was able to avoid the world resetting into battle world in the Secret Wars thing. So I think Loki might hold that role, as when Doom sort of reshapes the world to the battle world before we get in Secret Wars, I think Loki is going to pull some heroes together outside of the multiverse and sort of have them to put everything back right again. I think that's the running theory too. So we'll see.
Speaker 1:But yes, massive announcement for the for that um, this is currently in production. It's coming out next year. Um, I don't think they're doing a back-to-back filming thing. I think they're filming this take a break and I think they're filming um secret wars next year. So there you go. So we might, we might have another one of these next year. So there you go. I'm very excited. I do like.
Speaker 1:I do like the aspect of a lot of these characters are going to be fairly new to this avenger stuff, not even the avenger stuff, but also the massive crossover stuff, like even characters who are here who've seen before. Chris hemsworth is like the only chris hemsworth. Thor is like the only fucking veteran of shit like this at this point, because like well, yes, anthony mackieie and Sebastian Stan, and like Letitia Wright, you know, were present in like Endgame and Infinity War. Ant-man was in Endgame but he wasn't in Infinity War and while they were there, they played very small roles. I feel like now they're going to be stepping up to, like you know, the main role. Of course it's a big ensemble movie. Everybody's importance of everybody's uh, importance of everybody's role, how much screen time they get, how important they are, is going to vary. So some of these are going to be cast, but they might not even be in there long. You know.
Speaker 1:Clearly, I think, like the x-men characters are going to be not in there for very long, but we'll see. I'm excited. I'm excited to see this. I was, um, unlike most, most people, I was so damn hyped when all of these X-Men characters got announced. I will say. A very interesting thing is Kelsey Grammer's Beast was introduced far sooner than when we got this entire block of these X-Men characters here, so it makes me think maybe Beast plays a bigger role in this than the rest of them do. But we shall see, benny, who that is it for, uh, with the movies. So let's move on to our video game aspect as soon as I get me some more of that H2O.
Speaker 1:All right, so it's been official that Assassin's Creed Shadows is Ubisoft's second biggest launch to date, just behind Assassin's Creed Valhalla. So, according to insider game sources who have provided data for the last three mainline ac titles, uh, the information was tweeted public on their own x a few hours ago. According to source to obtain information, ubisoft's own tracking it shows that assassin's creed shadows is behind that of valhalla, but ahead of odyssey. They announced that they have two million players just after two days of launch. One million players after one day, so it's probably bigger even now. Uh, assassin's Creed Valhalla achieved 200, 200, 2.55 million players in the first day and Odyssey was just shy of 1 million. So Shadows is tracking to hit 3 million in the coming days. According to its trajectory, shadows could have roughly hit 6 million players within its first month was worth pointing out that the game has released in q1. Compared to other titles that came late in the holiday season, so that's good.
Speaker 1:Of course, this game has been, uh, fucking, the fucking main target of the motherfuckers on the go broke hate train. Um, they've been shitting on this game for an entire goddamn year. You know, dei samurai, all that shit. Uh, you know, after, like, if it's a japanese game, we need to have a japanese protagonist, despite the fact that it does. But because it's a woman, you know, they elect to fucking ignore it and choose to target, uh, the nigga nigga. So there you go. But it seems all that shit has been for naught because the game has sold well.
Speaker 1:Actually, do we have numbers on how it is? Now, I can't spell. Do we have recent numbers? Assassin's Creed Shadow is now up to 3 million players. So there you go. Do we have number? They have recent numbers. A sad screen shadows now up to three million players. So there you go. So there you go. It's doing just fucking fine. It's been big numbers, it's been a hit and uh, yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1:Uh, for as much as these motherfuckers will hate it the entire time when this game has been coming out, just to go to show you that the internet is not a real place. These motherfuckers need to just shut the hell up. Please, just shut the hell up, go away, please. If we run into these people, please let's shame them, talk down to them, ignore them. We just need to get them the fuck out of here, seriously. But yeah, so assassin's creed should have been doing pretty well and, of course, for most people I've seen who've played the game have actually enjoyed it. It's not, like you know, it's not the greatest game ever made. It's probably not even going to go down as the best Assassin's Creed game, but, in terms of what they got, people are enjoying it, people are liking it, they're finding good things about it. It's not the perfect game, but people are playing it, people are enjoying it and it's selling pretty damn well. So there you go, all right.
Speaker 1:Next up game informer seemed to be teasing a comeback. Uh, if y'all remember, this was shut down in august of last year. Uh, but it's not every day you get good news in the media landscape, but it looks like we might have some game informer. The longest running video game magazine in america was shut down last august, uh, by its wretched owners over at gamestop, but it looks like the publication is geared up for return based on posts on social media channels. I can attest to that. I saw it on facebook. They're uh taking people um to like sign up for, like a newsletter or something, but it does, and they've uh. Their internet archive is back as well. Uh, the magazine's twitter, blue sky, instagram and youtube channels have all been revived, and and their internet archive is back as well. The magazine's Twitter, blue Sky, instagram and YouTube channels have all been revived. They now feature a teaser video of a laptop screen displaying the goodbye message. That was what they put up last time, but in the teaser, fuck itth. Let's see if we can, uh, but I do. I think that's what it is because they did. Yep, there you go, we back. The whole team has returned and we can't wait to connect with you all again Devastated last summer by the news that it was shut up by our parent company and so the rest was the rest of our team.
Speaker 1:The thing that caused so much surprise, I guess, was the shutdown from our readers and viewers, blah, blah, blah. Over the months since, two remarkable things have happened. First is that the game informer as a brand and outlet was purchased and given a new lease on life. The second is that the entire team that was working together at game informers and closure has returned from editorial to production and beyond the entire team. That is fucking awesome. Uh, if all our working in our past, you know what that means. Our outlet has always been about more than just things we cover. It's about the people.
Speaker 1:After touching base with our team and ensuring our interests, the team at gunzilla games secured the rights to game informer and from the start, the new owners insisted on the idea of game informer remaining an independent editorial outlet. That felt just as strong as our team did that the only path forward was with. An editorial group made 100 of decisions around what we cover and how we do so, without any fluent, any influence from them or anyone else. So they brought them back. They brought back the rights. They brought back the original team and told them hey, this is yours now, do what you do and it's all controlled by you, so you don't have to go through any shit like this again and if you do, it's by your own accords. So game informer now operates in under an entity called game informer inc.
Speaker 1:And our interest is to continue focus on highlighting the coolest games, celebrating the history and legacy of the gaming industry and shining a spotlight on the creators and players who are charting its future. So game informerer is officially back. That is so fucking cool. That's fucking dope. And I do believe their entire online, their entire online database is back. All of the new shit, all of the old shit, the internet archive still completely here. So there you go. Game Informer is back. I'm happy to see it. Man, this is great. This is, this is this is great. I'm so happy to see this. So it's all back. They're operating independently now. So they gotta worry about fuck-ass game stops and their goddamn struggles, struggling, closing them down. They got their whole team back, which is another fucking awesome thing, because I'm so fucking tired of hearing about motherfuckers losing their jobs and studios closing and shit. So they got the whole team back. They're operating on their own now, and now they're back with the internet, and I think they also said they were doing the magazine is coming back as well. So that's cool.
Speaker 1:Oh shit, robocop is a PlayStation Plus game for April. Oh, and a pokemon, pokemon. God damn, I lost. I lost my whole credibility there in a digimon game. I might actually get that. I'm the one to get into the digimon games. We might have found the next game we are going to play on the channel, all right, so game informer is officially back and you'll love to see it. Uh, you know what I think, just for that, we're gonna do this story on game informer, uh, gameinformercom, and they got it. Yep, we're gonna do some gameinformercom, but that's later. All right, um, so, yes, game informer is back. Everybody rejoice, celebrate it is back. All right, uh, next up, let's just talk about this really quick. Um, this is an older story, but I wanted to talk about it.
Speaker 1:God of war celebrated its 20th anniversary. Uh, we got dark odyssey collection, some uh uh digital goods coming to god of war ragnarok. Uh, it came out on 20th, so it came out about last week, so you can, I believe it's all free. Uh got a new skin inspired by the god of war 2 skin, inspired by the working name of god of war, the skin that originally appeared in god of war 2 as an award for beating the game on god mode difficulty, classic, back and gold theme. For the anniversary, we also got some looks for atreus and I forgot her damn name, freya. There we go. So you got the Dark Odyssey for Kratos Dark Odyssey armor set. Let's make this show a little lower. We got Dark Odyssey outfits for Atreus and Freya. We got some brand new weapon attesters that go with it as well for the three weapons in the game Shield stuff as well, so got a whole little thing for it. Also, at the anniversary, they showed a I don't think I'll have it here.
Speaker 1:There was a dope ass picture of JC Carson, who voiced Kratos in the original God of War games, and then Christopher Judge, who voices Kratos now in the 2018 Arachnid Rock. Of them together. It was a dope ass picture. They gave him some little special reasons. Let me see if I can find it. Let me see if I can find it. Jc Arson, jc arson, jc jc. Here it is. Yeah, I thought that was just a really cool thing. They both gave him a little rings for the 20th anniversary. So that's dope. By the way, any of my black folks? Yes, jc carson, jc. Yes, that's jc carson, the motherfucker from inlet, from living single voice kratos in the original god of war games. I bet y'all didn't know that. So that's cool, all right, uh.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, let's, like I said, we're gonna read on game informer magazine's uh site to celebrate the fact that they're back. So nintendo had a nintendo direct this morning. Uh, mostly all focused on the switch one because they announced that in april. It is right there. April 2nd is going to be another one and that's all going to be all about the switch 2. So this one featured a bunch of releases for switch games, uh, with the biggest thing, of course, being, uh, metro prime 4. So, from our audio listeners we are going to go through, we're going to talk about everything that they talked about, uh, and we're going to look at all the teasers in our video section. So, if you're interested in that, humble over to the youtube so you can look at all of the videos or, you know, watch them on your own time. So, for right now, we're just gonna talk about them and announce what they all are. So they are.
Speaker 1:Now is dragon quest 1 and 2, hd 2d remakes. That's coming in 2025. Uh, no sleep for kata, kata, me. Date from a. Why are these damn names so damn long? From ai, the just so much. The. The AI, the Summonum Files. It's a follow-up to a 2019 game that's coming on July 25th Raido Remastered the Mystery of the Soulless Army, a remaster of the 2006 PS2 game Devil Summoner.
Speaker 1:Raido Kazumoto vs the Soulless Army is going to the Switch on June 19th 2025. Why do these japanese companies make these damn game titles so wordy? Uh, shadow labyrinth based on the violent wait what, based on the shockingly violent pac-man inspired animated short from amazon's secret level. Uh arrives on switch on july 18th. Really, I think I got to that episode. Uh. Patapon one and two replay a collection of the first two patapon games. Uh, which originally released on the psp, is arriving on january 11th.

Uh, disney's villains cursed cafe, a game about running a cafe with cameos from various disney bad guys is available today. All right, witchbrook, a longer development game about attending a school for witches with friends, is coming.
Speaker 1:Holiday 2025 a turn in life of goldman. They announced a lot of shit. Holy crap. This is indeed a lot of shit. Oh my god, there's more. All right, let's speed this up then. Where were we? Speaker 1:Nintendo introduced its new virtual card system. It's coming to the Switch in 2026. Nintendo introduced its new virtual card system. It's easier for players to play and loan digital games across multiple Switch and Switch 2 consoles. Huh, oh, that's interesting. So I guess it's a way for you to move your games from your Switch 1 to your Switch 2. Any digital games. You got Near the end of the show.
Speaker 1:Okay, so we got high on. Life coming to switch. Star overdrive coming on april 10th. Wandering village on july 17th. The the king of meat is coming to this year. Speaker 1:And finally, the closed out the show with the reveal of the tendo today app, which will deliver general news and news about the switch 2 in the coming weeks and potentially years forward. So it's a nice the nintendo specific app to keep you up to date. So there you go. That's everything that was revealed at the nintendo direct. We'll watch these little videos in the video session I mentioned earlier. All right, and that wasn't the only thing, because, um, digicon, digimon con happened. Uh, I didn't even know this was a thing, was I'm sad because I'm a massive digimon fan, but uh, bandai and Toei held a DigimonCon 2025 livestream on the 20th.
Speaker 1:Upcoming projects and the franchise. We got some global games, we got some card games and the future of video games and anime. So, like I said, it dips into both video games and TV. But let's go ahead and look over some of that stuff right now. All right, all right, oh yeah, let's see it. So we got poke if we got digimon story time stranger, uh, ben dinamico and now digimon time stranger last month. You're in a showcase, but we didn't see much new from the RPG.
Speaker 1:The team confirmed a few things about the game's structure. Now you'll be able to move between the real world and the digital world, both of which have their own towns and environments. You can walk around in routes with locals Prepare before embarking on quests. They introduce some of the characters you'll meet. You can pick between a male or female protagonist and characters you'll meet. You can pick between a male or female protagonist and the character you don't pick will be your operator assisting you throughout the game.
Speaker 1:Presentation also announced that the digimon, that the starter digimon this time around, are padamon, gomamon and demidevimon, and there will be over 450 digimon you can recruit in total. So you recruit motherfuckers like pokemon in this shit. Huh. So I never played a Digimon game. Only Digimon game I played is Rumble Arena 2 that I still fuck around with a little bit to this day.
Speaker 1:A, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a. A ball of stone shit is. Gather mine. All right, cool, I ain't gonna watch all these videos, all right.
Speaker 1:Next up, we've had, uh, the presentation shifted to the card game. Uh, the new protector of light and hero of hope, starter decks, booster packs. Uh, digimon Liberator online comic. They got stuff from there. The mobile game, digimon Allison, seems to be a bit more elaborate than the Pokemon training card game. It includes a story mode with a new cast of characters featuring cards that are current, blah, blah, blah. I said, wait for me to watch this whole thing. I don't really care about the card game shit, but if you want wanna look at it, here's a little clip of it all in Japanese. So there you go up.
Speaker 1:Next we've got the animes looking back and forward. So two major announcements on the anime side. The first was the reveal of digimon adventure beyond and ova set between the digimon adventure tri and last kazoo road films. And it's keep going back to this, don't they? The four minute video is available to stream on the official digimon channel. The more notable announcement was digimon beat break. The next season of the anime starts to premiere on october 2025. Beat break. The short teaser is light on details or references. Emotion devouring digital life forms. Also a brief glimpse of the new protagonist and their digimon partner. That's about it. Beat break is being digital back to tv after a two-year hiatus.
Speaker 1:The last anime series, ghost game, concluded in 2023, which I don't think ever made it over to the States. I could be wrong. I probably am wrong With the fucking streaming and shit. You know it probably is. I watched this on my own time, but I'll look at it a little bit.
Speaker 1:So this is between Tri and Kizuna. I still ain't finished watching Try either. I'm sure that, cody. So it's from Japanese to English. I need my own frit. Giant wolves and dinosaurs popping out the trunk. So popping out the trunk, the whisper call to come out. Yet kazuna ro that came out already, didn't it? That's the movie. It's not very much beat break is it gonna be? They're gonna be fucking b-boying in the show or something. So the graffiti and the shit. All right, and that was. But that was it. So that was everything revealed at digimon con new anime, new game, a new little movie coming out for the original series. So there you go, all right, and that is it for video games. Now we will go ahead on and head on over to the tv portion of our show. All right, all right.
Speaker 1:So friday, 13th prequel series crystal lake cast linda cartellini as pamela vorhees. Linda cartellini is set, uh, for the lead role in the friday, the 13th prequel series at peacock will star as pamela vorhees in the expanded prequel series just titled crystal lake, picked up straight to series back in 2022. Uh, fans will recall that pamela vorhees, with the mother of jason vorhees, the hockey mask wearing slasher, featured throughout most of the first film. Yeah, people don't, people don't. I don't think a lot of people know that, because I didn't know that for a while, but actually the first villain of the damn movies was actually the mom. In the original film, jason is a child who drowns at Camp Crystal Lake. His death leads his mother, pamela, to seek revenge against the counselor she blamed for her son's death. So, yeah, so she was actually the main baddie and the main villain before they went with Jason wearing the mask.
Speaker 1:Cardelina is recently cast in a lead role in the upcoming HBO series DTF St Louis, alongside David Harbour and Jason Bateman. It's a three-time Emmy-winning nominee. I said winning Three-time Emmy nominee. We know her from Scooby-Doo Y'all remember Scooby-Doo and the MCU as Laura Burton hawkeye's wife. So, uh, yeah, that's about all. Everything else is just kind of new. So, yeah, linda cartellini is going to be the the main character in the camp crystal lake prequel series. So interesting to see how that all works out. Okay, don't have to do this for every damn one, all right, cool.
Speaker 1:So one piece co-showrunner matt owens steps down. Uh, matt owens has been the showrunner for the netflix live action one piece series throughout his first two season, but he has announced that he is leaving the show. Um, in an instagram post on friday, almost wrote that he's leaving the show to focus on my myself and my mental health. One piece just finished filming its second season. Uh, he quoted the last six years of working on live action one piece have been a life-changing journey, a dream come true. Oh, it's also been a lot, so I'm stepping off the going, mary.
Speaker 1:Thank you so much to uh oda, uh shuisha and tomorrow studios, netflix, the entire cast, the crew, for a trust, partnership and hard work. Um, yeah, I believe he has been very present in all of like the promotional materials, all the behind the scenes stuff. He's been like all of it. Uh, yeah, he's been very excited and very much looking forward to making this show. He's been very excited to do it. So sad to see him go. I remember when I first seen this headline I was like, oh, netflix, netflix is fucking up again. But I've seen the report and you know, hey, like I said, hey, like I said, doing that shit is a lot, you know, and I bet, doing it, doing it for like a show like this, it's a lot of, it's a lot of fucking work For your own mental health and your own personal mental health safety. For the sake of yourself. I don't blame you for having to step away sometimes and do all things like that.
Speaker 1:Onsen's been with the live action adaption for the long-running manga. From the start. He developed a long-term plan for the series and served as co-showrunner of both seasons of the series to date, alongside Stephen Maida in season 1 and Joe Traz in the forthcoming second season. Trax I don't even know how to focus, but I'll say will continue overseeing post-production of season 2. Netflix hasn't announced a release date. So, yeah, sad to see him go, but I mean, like I said, for the for the sake of his own well-being. If you got to take a break, you step away for a little bit. I don't blame you and hope that is like what, what it actually is. And then, beyond all that, uh, prior to one piece, owns wrote. Uh was a writer on a pair of marvel shows, as the shield and luke cage. He and uh trey's executive produced one piece with uh meta oda and marty adelstein and becky clemens. So sad to see him go, but hopefully the show is left in good hands and I'm still looking forward to season two.
Speaker 1:All right, next up. A little small story here, because it's kind of slow on the tv front too. Uh, uh, the british academy of film and television has announced the emmy award-winning actor, alan cunning, will host this year's baffa tv awards. You know the guy who also was just recently announced to be coming back to avengers doomsday as nightcrawler. Uh, the ceremony was the best in british tv will take place on sunday, may 11th. Cunning is known for his roles in the good wife, golden eye and spy kids and is meant to bring its unique brand of humor and charm to the event. So I got to remember this shit is on the 11th, so y'all already know we'll be talking about the winners. I don't think they've announced who any of the nominees are just yet. I don't think we've gotten those just yet. Oh nope, they are not out. So let's, naturally, let's just go right into that. We got the BAFTA TV Award. Nominees have been announced as well, so we can go and look at things, see who's nominated. I just say it's a long time to look because you know VPNs.
Speaker 1:Anywho, we got a little tease for invincible season four. They posted this on their instagram, as you can see. That's what I'm on right now. Uh, just posted the image invisible. Real return for season four should be sometime in 2026. Hopefully the voice acting is complete. There'll be a new storyline, not in the comic featuring dark blood. Damian huh Haven't seen him since season one. Thrag has been cast I have no idea who the hell that is and Invincible has also been cast. What? What does that mean? Is there another Invincible? I don't know. Hey, I guess I gotta wait and see. I gotta read the comics to figure out what's going on. So there you go. Season 4 of Invincible should be hopefully sometime in 2026. All right, and our next story.
Speaker 1:American Dad is closing in on a deal to return to Fox this year he's from. Seth MacFarlane has aired for TBS for more than a decade now Fox is looking to add another show to its animation lineup by bringing one of its former series back to the network. The broadcaster is close to making a deal with 20th Century Animation, which produces American Dad, to return the show to the network, sources say. Sources say the show was created by seth mcfarland, mike barker and mike wiseman. Whitesman began his life on fox, actually before moving to tbs in 2014, where it had a run for 10 seasons and more than 200 episodes.
Speaker 1:Episodes, episode my dumb ass. Uh. The show's current two season with tbs, which dates back to 2021, will end on monday's season finale. Should the deal Fox go through, it would likely be a multi-season order allowing the season to have a relatively seamless transition to two delivering new episodes at its once and possibly future home.
Speaker 1:A key factor in America Day Live's return to Fox was the network's re-upping of its streaming partnership with Hulu in November 2024. That deal allows in-season episodes of Fox shows to stream on Hulu, which is owned by Disney. Blah, blah, blah. The day after their on-air debuts, hulu was home to a catalog of America's Dad episodes and a bunch of other ones. The potential return of America's Dad also augurs well for 20th TV's animation other long-term Fox shows like Bob's Burgers, family, family guy and the simpsons, which are coming to end of their two season orders as well. So we'll keep an eye on this.
Speaker 1:We'll see if america dad ends up going back to fox from tbs. Um, I love american dad. It's been like one of my favorite shows. Haven't been following it too closely in the last couple years as what most tv stuff I do, but I always love the american dad. If it goes back to fox, that'd be, that'd be cool, as long as they don't, you know, interfere with nothing. But I do believe it got a little bit more. I do believe it got a little bit more raunchy once with the tbs. But I mean, I don't know, because family guy is on fox and family guy is fucking worse. The guy is fucking worse than the american dad. So we'll see all right.
