Oh, all you awesome people out there, welcome, or welcome back to GeekVisit Entertainment, the one place that is dedicated to the victory of visual media, that, of course, being film, video games and television. I'm going to turn this brain on a little bit boy All right, cool. Turn his brain a little bit boy all right, cool. I am your host, as always, hoover, and I would like to welcome you all back, as we have a brand new episode of news drop. This is, uh, episode 40. This is 41, 42, uh, 41, yep, episode 41 of News Drop, which is probably going to turn out to probably be the penultimate episode of Season 4 here. We'll probably have one more before the end of the year. So exciting news there. Four years, four years we've been doing this. It's kind of crazy, of course, if you don't know, the YouTube, we've been doing this. It's kind of crazy, um, of course, if you don't know, uh, the YouTube is only going for a few months. We have a total backlog of episodes all in the audio realm, so go ahead and follow the podcast on the audio realm. Spotify, uh, google podcasts, apple podcasts we're on it, we're on all those, so go check it out. The podcast YouTube, we're on YouTube Music. You can get the podcast there too, in audio form as well.
Speaker 1:But we're going to be going over some of our news headlines, mostly from the early to now mid-December, as we look through things here today. So some of the things we're going to be talking about here today I got some news about some uh more avengers, doomsday casting, uh, speaking of marvel stuff. We also got a big update on uh sony's what I dubbed as spider manless universe, the spider manless, spider-man universe. Um, we also be talking about some casting for uh mando and grogu and then also be talking about some casting for Mando and Grogu, and then we've also been talking about casting for a Beatles biopic as well. So that's everything we've got for our movies.
Speaker 1:On the video game front, we've got a brand new update for Cyberpunk 2077. We also have some news about the future for Suicide Squad and X-Defiant, and then we'll end things off on the video game section, of course, with a Game Awards, some news about the future for Suicide Squad and X-Defiant, and then we'll end things off on the VL Games section, of course, with a Game Awards recap. On the TV side, we'll be talking about the Family Emmy nominations. We got an update on Steve Carell comedy series, as well as the brand new news on a Prison Break reboot, and then we'll be talking about the brand new news for a Saturday Night Live docuseries. Then, of course, as usual on these ones here, we will also be going over movie trailers in the end as well, so be excited for that. There is what I forgot to add on there, so I'm going to put that on there really quick. Alright, cool. So that is everything we're talking about on our episode of News Drop today.
Speaker 1:So, without further ado, everybody, let's just drop right into the news here today. All right? So, starting out, we've got avengers doomsday. Uh, hayley atwell is now set to reprise her role as agent Carter in the upcoming Marvel movie. Of course, before we get to this, this comes just days, a few days or a few weeks after it was also announced that Chris Evans is also in rumors to reprise his role. We don't know if it's his role, but he's going to be coming back as Steve Rogers in Avengers Doomsday as well, and now it looks like his partner. What was her name in the movie? Peggy? Peggy Carter is coming along as Agent Carter in the movie we know Russo's directing, but Deadline did report in 2021 that Marvel and Evans were discussing a return in some form to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the belief was Atwell was a part of that plan, potentially return for a standalone movie. I do remember seeing this they were going to get the two of them back and they were going to do a movie about basically what their life was at the end of Avengers Endgame. Yeah, a new story for the film could not get nailed down, but in recent months, both sides saw the new Avengers film as the perfect opportunity to bring both characters back. So, yeah, so we got Chris Evans potentially returning, but now we also have Hayley Atwell also returning. This is, of course, all in conjunction with Robert Downey Jr also coming back as Dr Doom, victor Von Doom, for Avengers Doomsday as well.
Speaker 1:Now I've been seeing a lot of discourse about these returners, especially after the Chris Evans one was talked about. I've been seeing a lot of discourse mostly about the fact that Marvel has kind of been on its downswing in this recent phase, so it's not the best look that they're now banking on the returning of these older actors to come back in these movies to reprise old roles or something. But I will say it might just be me being the optimist. It might just be totally the optimist in me, so I'll be fair in that one. But I will say we all know this is all building up towards Secret Wars and it seems like it's the 2015 Secret Worlds, so it's going to be Battleworld Probably. God, emperor Doom, god, emperor Doom. So it's going to be this mishmash amalgamation of different parts from the different Marvel multiverse, now sort of cobbled together into this one thing. So I'm actually not surprised at all.
Speaker 1:A lot of older actors are going to be returning and more than likely they're going to be returning in some role that is different than what they played before, and I also think that's why some of them are more keen to come back to the roles. Like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans were both pretty adamant that when Endgame was over, they were done with those characters. They were done with Tony Stark and they were done with Steve Rogers. They were done with Tony Stark and they were done with Steve Rogers. No-transcript Hydra from a more recent, from a more recent Captain Hydra, marvel. Yeah, so I've been seeing the fact that they think it might be this Captain America that he's coming back, as there's the picture right there. He could be Captain Hydra, hydra Captain America in this one. So it's something to be mindful of. Just the same way as they bring Robert Downey Jr back to play a different variation of Tony Stark or we still don't know for sure, or not even not him at all but this new version of him. So we'll have to wait and see.
Speaker 1:Hayley Atwell. Her coming back could just be totally be just Peggy Carter again. Maybe she's coming back to reprise the role as Captain Carter yet again. Remember we saw her for a very brief time in Multiverse of Madness. We saw that character there. So who knows? But that's the optimism in me.
Speaker 1:But I will say, if we're just talking optics, it does look a little desperate. It does. It does look a little desperate after the struggles the MCU has been going through to bank on. Hey, let's bring back Chris Evans, let's bring back Robert Downey Jr to get these people to flock back into the theaters. I was going to say Deadpool and Wolverine kind of proved that they don't need to do it, but I feel like it's a double-edged sword. It might have also proved that they might have to, because they brought Hugh Jackman back to play Wolverine yet again when he said he was done after Logan, so we'll see. I agree it does look a little desperate. It does look like they're grasping at straws a bit, but we'll have to see how it turns out. Again, a little bit of optimism in me, but I was actually expecting to see a lot of these older characters come back Actors, I mean, come back and play different versions of their character. We just saw Chris Evans come back and play Johnny Storm in a cameo for Deadpool and Wolverine, so I feel like we could see other things like that as well. All right, but yeah, more Avengers. Doom Day casting Moving on. It has been announced.
Speaker 1:The Sony Spider-Man universe is reportedly done after Kraven the Hunter, as it was looking to track a worse opening than Madden Web. We'll get to that a little later. Sony is reportedly giving up on its Spider-Man universe, which includes universally panned films such as Venom and Morbius, as Crayon Hunter is projected for a worse opening weekend than the disastrous Madam Web, and I think every single person out in the world when they saw this all let out a universal thank God. I have been ragging on the Sony Spider-Man Spider-Man universe for the longest time. I think it extends. It's extended all the way back to, I believe Let there Be Carnage, the second Venom movie that I did a review for on the podcast, and I've been ragging on them since.
Speaker 1:This is y'all. We are witnessing the end of a generation. Have we ever witnessed a run like this in cinema? Ever? I don't know. I don't think we have ever. I don't know. I don't think we have A string of movies all just terrible, just complete and total ass. Back to back to back to back to back. There's not one win. I'd say the only win they have is arguably the first Venom and, as I said, with that first Venom, that first Venom movie was just kind of leaned into the so bad it's good territory. That was the only redeeming quality about it.
Speaker 1:But have we seen a string? We're talking. We're talking 90s Jordan run right now. That's what we're talking about. We're talking about Ks Jordan run right now. That's what we're talking about. We're talking about KD Warriors run right now. We're talking about Steffa KD 2016 Warriors. Shit, that 16 was the 16 they lost. Maybe we'll talk about a little bit of that too, but we're talking about 18-17 Warriors run right now. Bro, have we seen a run this dominant 90s Cowboys that's what we're talking about right now. I don't watch it. I don't know about any other sports but those two, so I can't use any other analogy. But I think there is some hockey team that has plenty of championships. But continue on with the story.
Speaker 1:A leading agent told the Wrap that Sony has developed what they want to develop for now and is instead focusing on the next actual Spider-Man film under Marvel Studios, which was confirmed by star Tom Holland at the beginning of the film, actually one just popped up in my head. We're talking fucking mid 2000's John Cena. We're talking first WWE Championship Johns John Cena. We're talking first WWE Championship John Cena run. What y'all know about that? Kraven the Hunter. The latest and potentially final entry in Sony's Spider-Man universe arrives December 13th and is already expected to be as meek a release as previous offerings. As reported by Deadline, it is targeting a mere $13-15 million at the box office in its opening weekend. No Way Home, by the way, put in $587.2 million in its weekend debut. Boy oh boy, though final numbers won't emerge until next week.
Speaker 1:At the time that this was made, craving the Hunter lower than the Madam West 17 million opening weekend performance, which broke records as the worst opening for a Sony Spider-Man film ever and one of the worst Marvel films since Fox's Fant4stic to not open at number one. And this is a goddamn shame and I said it. I said this is hilarious and kind of kind of messed up. This story dropped before Craving the Hunter even came out in theaters. I was like the fact that this is coming out before the damn movie is out is wild, like it's damn insane that this news story dropped before the movie came out. It also kind of just shows like damn, they had no faith in this movie whatsoever, which I don't understand. Why the fuck did you make it? Why did you greenlight it? But that is what it is. So I'm just happy that this thing might finally be over.
Speaker 1:They had a bunch of movies on the production slate at least. Remember HypnoHustler, the movie they were going to do with Donald Glover, but then they backtracked. They were just like no, we just have to do the Prowler stuff, for that Prowler cameo in the recent Spider-Verse movie. Remember, they were going to do that one movie with Bad Bunny about another random ass obscure Mexican luchador Spider-Man villain, and they were going to have Bad Bunny play the lead character. Remember what was it called? I think it was called Silver and Black, Black and Silver. They were going to do some movie with Black Cat and Silver Sable. Remember that. Remember Morbius' post credit scene, the worst damn post credit scene I've ever seen. Yeah, remember that. That ain't happening now. Remember, they dragged poor old Michael Keaton's vulture into this damn universe. It's a goddamn shame.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, so how did this news affect Craving the Hunter's opening weekend, you ask? Well, let me show you, because spoiler alert not too. Damn well. Oh man, as soon as this damn thing loads, did I lower? I gotta get a new chair. This shit is getting my nerves. But alright, here we are. So Kraven the Hunter. Kraven the Hunter bombs with an 11 million dollar opening, while Moana 2, off though, has has crossed $700 million globally. I'll have to remember to add that to my best and worst list. Disney's comeback this year, after they had a terrible fucking year last year.
Speaker 1:Alright, so Sony's first R-rated comic book movie, kraven the Hunter, bombed in its domestic box office debut this weekend, hunting down only $11 million to come in third. It opened third behind Moana 2, which is like what it's third week, third or fourth week, and Wicked, which I believe is in its second week, so it couldn't even top movies that have already been in theaters. Craven supplanted Madame Web to rank as the worst start for a Sony-produced Marvel comic book movie They'd already said that and one of the worst for any pick based on a Marvel character Not adjusted for inflation. Reviewers God damn what the hell is going on with this. Try to highlight it keeps jumping to the top. Reviewers ravaged the. What the hell is going on with this? I'm trying to highlight it. It keeps jumping to the top.
Speaker 1:Reviewers ravaged the film while artists left it with a C. Cinemascore that's not good. If y'all don't know, cinemascore is a part of movies first released, either typically like the midnight showings, or I think the midnight showings is a good one at this point now, but in the midnight showings and it's an opening weekend uh some theaters uh have surveys and they ask the theater goers so this doesn't come from critics, this is actually from regular ass people who go see the movie to give their review on the movie based on a letter score. It typically, as you can kind of expect from a lot of movies, sometimes, while the movie might do bad amongst critics, fans will be a little bit more lenient to a movie, but this one scored a damn C in the end. So even somebody who willingly gave money to go see this, they had to be looking forward to it for some reason or another. First of all, they knew the existence of this damn movie, spent their hard-earned money to go out and see it. So you'd think they'd be a little bit more lenient, and maybe a C is lenient, but the fact that a C is the highest that they were willing to go is troubling.
Speaker 1:The pic also missed its mark overseas, grossing a mere $15 million from 60 markets for a global debut of $26 million. Damn Craving star Amy Taylor Johnson. It cost $110 million to make instead of its intended $90 million because of the pandemic and strike-related delays, and the release date was pushed several times. I do remember that, damn. I didn't know about the fact that they went so far over budget that an additional $20 million they had to put into it. Can we blame the pandemic and the strikes? I feel like the movie would have done bad either way. I feel like it wouldn't have done bad either way, but I guess in the bottom line it hurts because they did have to put $20 million more in there, which means that instantly means the film had to make more than what was original projections.
Speaker 1:So movies, in order for movies to be profitable, they have to at least make two and a half times more than what they spent. So, by the way, I am not a goddamn mathematician, so excuse me, hold on, we ain't even going to embarrass myself like that. We didn't, we? We even going to put ourselves through that. We ain't even going to put ourselves through that. All right, let's see. So it costs $110,000. And you multiply that by two. Get out of here YouTube video. Multiply that by 2.5. So this thing needed to make $275 million to just make a profit. Yeah, we're going to do that. Craven is. I hate this.
Speaker 1:Craven is more bad news for Sony, following Madam Web as it tries to mine the hundreds of Spider-Man related characters it has rights to. Sony Insiders have marketed the film as already an action pick akin to such titles as John Wick versus a comic book movie. A little clearer. That didn't work on the smartest. Then it's talking about everything else in the market. Moana, $7 million globally, is heading for the $1 billion mark, which I think could possibly be the third Disney movie to do that this year. Further on, deadpool and Wolverine and Inside Out.
Speaker 1:2. Wicked sang past $500 million, earning another $22.5 million. Domestic Gladiator was fourth $7-8 million has a total of $146 million. I think it's cool, alright, so that's about it. So, yeah, it did not help Kraven the Hunter. I don't think things were good for Kraven the Hunter either way, but this does not help it at all. So we closed the book on the Spider-Man-less Spider-Man universe.
Speaker 1:Alright, man, I hope it's true. Those movies are so Fucking bad and apparently I don't believe it. Apparently there's a rumor going around Too that Now that they announced that they're canceling it now the news about it is oh, by the way, they never, not, they never couldn't use Spider-Man in their movies, they just chose not to. I don't believe that shit. You really think they done five complete ass movies that none of them have really made much money? Even the Venom movies, which are like the most um, the most profitable one, have really made much money. Even the Venom movies, which are the most profitable one, have seen diminishing returns after each movie. The first one did the best, two had a really good opening weekend, but overall it didn't make as much as the first Venom movie did. And then the Last Dance it missed its projections for opening weekend and then it didn't even make as much as Let there Be Carnage made. So the Venom movies have had diminishing returns with each movie, which is why I'm like why the fuck would they not use Spider-Man in any of these? Alright, but anyway.
Speaker 1:Next up, jeremy Allen White joined Star Wars film the Mandalorian and Grogu. As Jabba the Hutt's son I don't know how the hell this is going to work has joined the Star Wars film. Oh, he's the voice that makes sense. That makes a lot more sense as the voice of Jabba the Hutt's son, rada the Hutt. Variety's third project marks the first major franchise for the actor following his Emmy-winning breakout role in the FX series the Bear. I expect he's going to be involved in a lot more of that stuff moving forward. I of course, know him from he wasn't shameless, right. That's where I know him. That's where I most know him from.
Speaker 1:Plot details have been hard to come by for the Mandalorian and Grogu, so White's casting as Jabba's son provides the first real glimpse for what could be in store for the truth of Bounty Hunter and his adorable wee adopted son. If you don't know, the Mandalorian is going to be the film spinoff of the Disney Plus series, one of the only goddamn things Disney Plus has really been doing. Disney, one of the only goddamn things Disney Plus has really been doing Disney has really been doing with the Star Wars franchise since they got it. Yeah, the recent spinoff, the Book of Both Fates, where Jabba's absence left a power vacuum among all of us crying about his own tattooing. Two of his cousins made a play and we don't care about none of that, while currently shooting the Bruce Springsteen biopic.
Speaker 1:Dizzling Me From Nowhere. Writer-director Scott Cooper he's the one doing it. He's done Philip Lipp Gallagher on Lone Turtles that's where I know him from and now he's in the Bear and is absolutely taking off One of the best shows on TV right now and, of course, one of the best shows on TV that I have not watched. So it's on the list. I'm up. So much more. There's so much All right.
Speaker 1:And finally, for our film section, we've got four people, four guys who seem to be the frontrunners, to play the Beatles in an upcoming biopic. It was alright, in early 2024, it was confirmed that director Sam Mendes and Sony would helm a four separate biopics of legendary rock band the Beatles and give them each their own time in the spotlight. Wow, I didn't know that, although few details have been announced and their release date has been confirmed, the four-part project expends to the mirror in 2027. While the cast has not been officially confirmed yet, there have been rumors and hits suggesting that Paul Mescal will portray Paul McCartney. Harris Dickinson will play John Lennon. Barry Keoghan will take on the role of Ringo Starr. Meanwhile, joseph Quinn and Charlie Rowe have reportedly both been in talks for George Harrison.
Speaker 1:Now, I don't know. I don't know Harris Dickinson and Paul Paul Miske oh, he just starred in the Gladiator 2. I don't know what else. Hold on, let me uh, fucking, fucking, yoo-hoo. Yahoo. Yes, I haven't changed my default search engine yet. I'm sorry, I don't. Chrome was like my secondary, tertiary one. I just use it on here because like it gets my docs easy. I said so.
Speaker 1:Gladiator to all of the strangers phone lost daughter, merely people along. I've seen Nor Heard of any of these movies. Has it kind of just started to blow up? Speaking of that, let's pull up the other guy, harris Dickinson, because I don't know him either. I don't know him either. Alright, let's see what he's done. Okay, yeah, close daughter deceiving young people. Bump yeah, he's fairly new 2019. Bump was like he's fairly new. 2019 Bump was like his first major role. He's been on the things since 2019. So, yeah, he's fairly new. Let's see 8.2, 8.4. He's been some good stuff. Apparently, though Normal people Probably been like the thing that really kind of set him up and really put his name out there. The Deceived Rolling Stones was a 7. Phoebe Bridgers Survivor awesome music video. Love's Daughter. After Some, all of Us Strangers. Gladiator 2 was like his first big movie role. Okay, so he is kind of new. He is kind of recent in there.
Speaker 1:Oh, this guy is going to be in the Baby Girl movie. We watched the trailer for that a while ago. Oh, let's see his shit. Oh, my god, get out of here. Let's see Blitz baby girl. We've seen that murder at the end of the world. The iron claw oh, he's in the iron claw. I still want to watch that. I still gotta watch that. See how they run, cause they're saying kingsmen, um, he, oh, wait, I don't see y'all. And then click, he's been going for a while. I haven't seen anything. He's been in, though. Alright cool. So, yeah, so those are our people so far, of course, joseph Quinn, charlie Rowe and it's also George Harrison.
Speaker 1:Ridley Scott accidentally spilled the rumors the rumor news about Men's Guild during the conversation with Christopher Nolan after Gladiator 2 screening. That's funny. According to Hollywood Reporter, scott told Nolan maybe Paul is actually stacked up doing the Beatles next, so I may have to let him go. So what y'all think about these potential castings? They don't have to look exactly like the guys. This is weirdly kind of pretty damn good, though he's a little bit more profile here. I can't really say for the nose, but like that, them eyebrows, kind of the shape of their eyes, that's also kind of the same thing. They also have very long heads. Wow, that one's kind of spot on too.
Speaker 1:I like Barry Keegan. He's really been on the rise, as of late I did read he's been going through some shit because he broke up with somebody, I don't know Some fucking pop star or some singer or something. And then of course we got two in the roles for George Harrison Can't lie I guess it would depend on the timing, but I ain't gonna lie the fact that Joseph Quinn is coming off Stranger Things and he's got that role as Johnny Storm. I would think just by that popularity alone they could go with him. But of course don't really share the same audience. I'm pretty sure they still just go based on skill, alright. But that is it for our film section.
Speaker 1:I'm going to load up our video games, so we're going to talk about that as this loads up, alright. So the first thing we got to talk about is kind of just out of nowhere, like they announced it, and then the stream happened not too long after. But Cyberpunk 2077 has a brand new update, update 2.2. And it is now live. It came out the same day. They announced it on the 12th. So I'm going to just roll through this pretty quick. We ain't going to read everything. I watched the live stream. I've actually played Cyberpunk after this update was out. You can go check my Cyberpunk 2077 walkthrough on the channel as well. But basically it's just a lot of future life stuff.
Speaker 1:They've added the Crystal Coat, which is basically their version of a paint job. You could just add paint to cars, but it's really in two spots, two tones of paint. That's why it's called two-tone. They've expanded the cars. It's available to do the Crystal Coat in two-tone with. Now you could also see the icon on auto fixer, which is where you buy your cars from.
Speaker 1:They also which they're showing off in this little clip. Here you can take the the the color tone from a different car and copy it and paste it on to your car. Actually, I think that's what the two-tone is. I'll take a picture. Simply, yeah, simply scan a car with your optics, switch to the two-tone tab and save the vehicle's color scheme for a small fee. Then you're able to select the scheme in the two-tone database under Crystal Coat menu there. So, yeah, so some of the customizable car stuff. These are all the cars that the 10 most requested vehicles from the streets of NCD are now available for purchase on Auto Fixer. So these are cars that were just available in the world like random spawns in the game. They're now available for you to buy in Auto Fixer now. So that's really cool.
Speaker 1:Also, they announced that after Act 1, basically when Johnny Silverhand gets stuck in your head he'll randomly pop up and can ride a shotgun with you in your car. So let's go to any comment to react to what's going on. Like I crashed my car and he was kind of pissed about it. The biggest thing they talked about, though, was that they overhauled the photo mode, added multiple community-related quest features. The drone is now free cam as opposed to orbital camera, which, I will admit, was annoying as fuck. They got an increased range, full collisions, on and off, off lock camera, precise camera aspect ratio, pc only character tags, so you can spawn into three NPCs for your photos, which I think is very cool and would allow for some pretty dope options for you to do now.
Speaker 1:They changed the lighting, fixed depth of field and added an effect intensity slider. So now for anybody out there who likes to go into photo mode and mess around in there you can now and have a lot more freedom of things to use. Now. I'll admit as well, I'll use it. I'll check it out too. I thought it was pretty cool because they also have smart frames which are basically like little digital camera frames, digital picture frames that are now available in all of your apartments, where now you can take pictures from your photo gallery and basically hang them up on the walls of your apartment now. So that's really cool, all right.
Speaker 1:They also added a lot more character customization options. These are just a few of the things they got 32 new eye colors, 17 new nail colors, 16 eye makeup types, 4 new scars, 4 new face tattoos, 2 new body tattoos and 8, cosmetic face, cyberware options. So it's kind of crazy that they're still adding this new stuff. A new randomizer to feature a plane, to punk slider, so you can randomize it. But you can randomize it to more of an aesthetic you're looking for, alright.
Speaker 1:And then we got some different stuff, some actual quest features here Dream on, which is one of my favorite quests in the game, charm of Team AV on the roof, when I'll be properly hidden in stealth mode. Heroes another really good quest Fixed an issue with a quest despite being completed to remain marked as incomplete. So this is just regular old run-of-the-mill updates for quests and stuff. Gameplay stuff might be completed to remain marked as incomplete. So this is just regular old run-of-the-mill updates for quests and stuff, gameplay stuff.
Speaker 1:So it's kind of crazy they're still adding big updates to this game, especially updates focused so much on customization and personalizing stuff, because again, this game is like three, four years old at this point. They've already announced that the full team has transitioned over to working on the Butcher 4. So that's dope. This could possibly be the last update we get, the last big major update we get for the game, but they did end the stream with uh, see you next time. So does that indicate we can begin more? I don't know. We'll have to wait and see, but it's cool that they're still working on this. But, like I said, it's probably a very smaller skeleton crew now, as all hands are on deck for the Witcher 4. Alright, speaking of moving on from games, we're reached the end of an era.
Speaker 1:Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League WB has announced that the upcoming season 4, episode 8, will be the final piece of new content added to the game. Once this new content arrives, next year, suicide Squad Kill the Justice League's content will come to a close, marking the end of a very tumultuous and controversial chapter of what was supposed to be Warner Bros and Rocksteady's next big title. So yeah, let me get a little bit of this water first. So yeah, I'm pretty sure we all know by this point. So yeah, I'm pretty sure we all know about this point.
Speaker 1:They released Suicide Squad killed the Justice League. It did not go well. Not the best release, not the best decision to make it a online looter shooter live service game, and the sales and the player count reflected that as well. Developed by Rocksteady, the studio behind the Batman Arkham games, appeared to feature the same satisfying combat encounters and fun world building in those games. However, once the game was officially revealed, things quickly changed and we knew we were getting basically a fucking live service game. That turned a lot of people off. Also didn't help that the gameplay was repetitive and the story was not that good. And, of course, a bunch of people were upset the fact that a game entitled Kill the Justice League featured you killing the Justice League, most notably Batman. So there you go.
Speaker 1:So Scott's Squad's poor sales were cited for the reason for the cuts. So there you go. Um, do, do, do, do, do, do. Uh, suicide squad's poor sales decided for the reason for the cuts. Couldn't these layouts result in lower quality product, which seemingly can be seen and felt in the latest news regarding suicide squad? Um, I did, I do think they announced that um, is this getting sunset or is the next one getting sunset? Do, do, do. Fast forward to the end of line within this final. Is this getting sunset or is the next one getting sunset? Fast forward to the end of the line within this final chapter. Confirmed that on December 9th, season 4, with the game's last, and that launches episode 7. Launches on the 10th with episode 8, the final piece of content to arrive on January 14th, so that's going to be done next year. Yeah, I do think they did announce that there's going to be an offline mode so you don't have to be online, but the thing is there'll still be like a multiplayer thing.
Speaker 1:If you're going to do this, why the hell didn't you do that in the first damn place? Make it an offline, drop-in, drop-out co-op game. That's all you needed to do. Instead, you made it a live-service looter shooter, which honestly also harmed not just the gameplay, but also harmed, like, the characters. Like why the fuck is Captain Boomerang shooting a damn gun? The man uses boomerangs, like if this was an offline single-player action adventure game. Single-player, but with drop-in, drop-out co-op, where your friends can control any other member of the squad and you can play. If you're playing by yourself, you can swap between the four of them interchangeably, however you want to do it, and then you can make each character radically different from one another. This gameplay loop only benefited Deadshot and I guess, in a certain way, also Harley Quinn. But then you make King Shark melee only the big tank of the character and then you make Captain Boomerang use nothing but fucking boomerangs, like it ain't that difficult, but yeah.
Speaker 1:So another live service game bites the dust also. I didn't write it on here because who the fuck cares? But Foam Stars is also closer too. Y'all remember Foam Stars. Neither do we Foam Stars. Y'all remember this Square Enix. This is their live service online game, their Splatoon wannabe. I guess you could say, yeah, this was a big multiplayer online game too. Live service game. That's being shut down too. That's being shut down too. This is all we're giving it. Square Enix is a multiplayer arena shooter for all stars. Entry made to small after less than a year. So yeah, there's Sunsend Final seasonal update. So that's ending too. Ends in January. Drops soapy lives that's wild. Soapy lives service year. So yeah, that's done too. But I ain't the only one, because we got Rocksteady and WB, we got Square Enix and of course, it would not be complete without Ubisoft. Mark Rubin, executive producer of Ubisoft's FPS X-Defiant, has confirmed that the game will be shut down next year. Shut down next year.
Speaker 1:Exafire was released in May of 2024 and promised itself as a true Call of Duty competitor, although it hasn't quite worked out for the live service title. Do they have a specific date on when it shut down? Actually, they do have one I want to talk about. I lost earlier this year Plenty of praise. I did hear that the beta was actually pretty good. It wasn't great, but it was pretty good. The free-to-play game met with 1 million unique players within 2 hours of release, became the fastest Ubisoft game to hit the date.
Speaker 1:As updates for the game continued, player numbers dwindled in subsequent months. By October, rooms were already stroing about the possibility of X Defiant shutting down, although nothing at that point was sustained. It's funny because this had the same rumors that we heard about Suicide Squad as well, which basically the studio just told them like hey, if you can't get your shit actually it might have just been this it was just told to them like hey, if y'all can get this shit done and good by season whatever, then we're done with it. And that's exactly what happened Confirmed that the game will be shut down. The service will remain active until June 3rd 2025. So it's getting sunset on June 3rd, so it will at least make it just barely over a year, although new downloads and plan registrations for X-Defiant are no longer available Effective immediately, which is which I understand, but I feel like they missed an opportunity, a revival Like imagine you hear this FPS live service shooter is shutting down and you know like, oh, once those servers go down, the game is basically dead. The game is basically bricked. So let me go in here and check it out and see how it plays before they shut it down. Now I will say you get an influx of players to come in just to try and check it out and see how it plays before they shut it down. Now I will say you get an influx of players to come in just to try and check out the game before it's shut down. You know, maybe if you don't like it enough, they stick around. Now you know you got a whole new second wind of life you can take advantage of, but they ain't even doing it.
Speaker 1:Any gamer who purchases the ultimate Fair Dispatch will receive a refund. Who may purchase this within the last 30 days? Those refunds should happen automatically within 8 weeks of today. So we're giving out refunds for Ultimate Editions. Is the shop closed down? Like, can you still do microtransactions and shit? More than likely probably Shut down a few weeks early from launch. Yeah, we know that talk about Concord belong for Ubisoft San Francisco now it's 2021 has yet has been confirmed for shutdown just 7 months after it's launch, difficult reminder of how this live service market is to truly break it to players.
Speaker 1:Let me just say I've been saying this for a while. Allow me to say it once again Fuck live service games For real. Now I will admit, a few of them can actually work. A few of them may actually work. I'm shameless in saying this. I've been playing the hell out of Marvel Rivals. So far, I've been enjoying Marvel Rivals, which I know I just said fuck live service games, get out of the sand. I've been playing live service games. Yes, I know, but every damn game don't need to be a damn live service games, because and I didn't put this out there I was talking to one of my co-workers today talking about it. I'll put this out there.
Speaker 1:For as much as I'm enjoying Marvel Rivals, it don't take much for that shit to just go completely the opposite way. It just takes, you know, one patch that buffs or nerfs the wrong characters, that changes the gameplay loop. You make one bad decision. All of a sudden, things is going the whole other way. I played the hell out of Overwatch as well, and I don't even fuck with Overwatch 2, no more.
Speaker 1:Remember that story content they were supposed to give us. Yeah, we know about that, but live service game I hate the. The thing I hate most about live service game is the continued push to have them, and I don't think I've seen one actual developer talk about wanting to do a live service game. It seems like it always comes from the top down, it comes from the suits, it comes from the exec down. It comes from the suits, it comes from the execs, it comes from the fucking I don't know COOs and all that shit. They want these things because it's all about the bottom dollar as opposed to the fucking creative freedoms.
Speaker 1:How about we just focus on making a game that is good and fun first? Then we'll kind of think about how we should do some shit, like it happened with Marvel's Avengers Suicide Squad, all the shit that happened, where they want to just kind of make a quick buck, milk the people for all they got and then boom, that's what you're left with. So yeah, so, as much as I love Marvel Rivals, I will not be surprised. I will not be surprised if around this time next year, when we're just past over the one year, mark that the game has been out for as great as it's been in it's release window, will not be surprised if next year, december 17th 2025, we're talking about damn.
Speaker 1:Remember how good Marvel's was when it first came out. It's fucking terrible now, or even worse. Damn, remember how great Marvel's started out the gate, just for their shit to get shut up Less than or slightly over a year after it was released. I would not be surprised. I ain't wishing that on them. I hope they're one of the ones that buck the trend. I hope they break it. I ain't wishing that on them. I hope they're one of the ones that buck the trend. I hope they break it, but I ain't going to be surprised. That's all I got to say. So can we just please, please, let's be done with the live service fad in the market. We can have a few here or there, but everybody ain't. Everybody don't need to be doing it, especially you, ubisoft, because this is doing that shit, done nothing to help you so far, and you are in the fucking gutter right now. You are down the worst right now. The fact that you did this and it's shut down has only now put so much more pressure on Assassin's Creed Shadows to work now. But that's enough of that. That's enough of that. That's enough of that, alright.
Speaker 1:The Game Awards the Game Awards just went down, maybe about a week ago from the point of me recording this right now. So we got a bunch of winners, we got some losers, losers, and we've got some big reveals that we're going to talk about. I watched it, so I ain't going to dive too deep into everything in this article. I just want to talk about some of the winners and talk about some of the reveals. So let's go over this. Um, I hate when they put this shit first, so I'm not going to lie. Put this shit last. Okay, now I want to watch. Put this shit first. I'm not going to lie. Put this shit last. Okay, now I want to watch. So, yeah, I guess we'll start with it. Then, biggest news Game of the Year was won by Astro Bot. This person has Astro Bot's Game of the Year win was safe, predictable and deserved. I agree it was a.
Speaker 1:This year was probably one of the most open things we've had for Game of the Year for the nominees. I think the last two years it was pretty much a shoo-in after who was going to win. Last year was Baldur's Gate 3 and the year. Before that it was Elden Ring, those two. While they were some good competition, I think it was a foregone conclusion that they were taking Game of the Year. When it came out, this one was a surprise. It was a pretty tight race. You had the Elden Ring DLC, shadow of the Earth Tree, you had Final Phase 7 Remake, bellatro, which was like a card game, which was a surprising contender Black Mithwook Kong Metaphor but it was Astro Bot that took it home. Of course, as usual, some people are not happy. We got our good old Spider-Man 2 effect from last year.
Speaker 1:Look, I played Astro Bot. I loved it. I played it twice. I played it. I beat it. I fucking struggle in the Grandmaster Trial at the end I liked it so much it made me go back and replay Astro's Playroom because then I saw that it had DLC in there some additional stuff to hype Astro Bot's release. Because then I saw that they had DLC in there like some additional stuff to hype Astro Bot's released before it came out. So I went back, I replayed that just to come back and play Astro Bot again for the second time. So I love Astro Bot. Man Games are meant to be fun and games are supposed to be fun and that's all. Astro Bot is. Astro Bot is just a fun, enjoyable game. So, yeah, and that's all Astro Bot is. Astro Bot is just a fun, enjoyable game.
Speaker 1:So yeah, naughty Dog's new title was released, titled Intergalactic. The heretic prophet Seems like it's a space game. A lot of product placement in that bitch. You got Porsche, you got Sony, you got Adidas, you can sit on the feet right here. Don't really know anything about this so far. I will say it has a very, very sort of retro, futuristic type of feel to it, like the point where this game sort of ventures into its own timeline from where we are from, like actual real life reality. It seemed like the point of it all started somewhere in like the damn 90s, maybe early 80s. I'll probably even say like everything about it feels like very 80s, and then somehow in like the 1980s we fucking discovered space flight and started going into space from the 80s. So that's what this feels like. So this is Naughty Dog. I think Neil Druckmann is still creative. Yeah, neil Druckmann still the creative director on this one. He did the Last of Us games and Uncharted 4.
Speaker 1:The story follows bounty hunter Jordan Munn, played by Tati Gabrielle, who I did not know, but I knew her face. I'm like I know her from some fucking where when I was watching that trailer, but I didn't know her name. Pursues a criminal syndicate named the Five Aces. Yeah, I've seen. Kumail Nanjiani was in there too. In pursuit of one of the Aces, jordan ends up stranded on just a planet. What? In pursuit of one of the aces, jordan ends up stranded on a distant planet with some hostile-looking robots. So we'll have to see. We'll have to see a little bit more on the game. Um, just write and tell everything else. Huh, alright, after one game of the year. Okay, bro, oh yeah, yeah, turok is back, a co-op third-person shooter. That was revealed. Uh, I honestly thought it was Ark when I first saw it. But there you go.
Speaker 1:Uh, helldivers 2 had a trailer. That was cool. That was fun. I think they had the guy who does the voiceover work on there show up on stage, fully cosplayed out doing it. That was pretty cool. We got a virtual fighter, which was shocking, to say the least, very shocking. Virtual fighter 6. Borderlands 4 dropped this trailer. Okay, I don't. Borderlands is a weird.
Speaker 1:I've played all of them at this point, mostly from the handsome jack collection. I've played all of them at this point, mostly from the Handsome Jack collection. I play them, I enjoy them, but they are like my favorite game series. Do I love them? No, do I hate them? No, I play them, I enjoy them and that's about it.
Speaker 1:I'm indifferent on Borderlands 4, especially after they gave us that fucking doo-doo water ass movie. On the opposite spectrum, though, outer Worlds 2 very excited for this. First, we'll look at gameplay in this trailer. We'll play a little bit of it. We ain't gonna play too much of it. Finally got some gameplay on there and apparently it's coming 2025, so we'll see if it holds up there. So I'm very happy.
Speaker 1:I loved the Outer Worlds. I really did. It was just chock full of personality and I loved it. So, yeah, outer Worlds 2. I'm safe for that.
Speaker 1:Um, oh yeah, the uh, creators of Ico and shadow of the colossus, and um, what's the other one called last guardian? I feel like there's another one. I'm missing, but I can't remember what it's called. Uh, they announced a new game there, but it's um, it's very early, it doesn't. It doesn't even have a title yet.
Speaker 1:It looked like it was going to be a fucking mech game or something. We'll play it because there ain't too much happening on here. We'll playback speed it up a little bit. Uh, yeah, they were like climbing up like a wait, let me see what's the other game. I ain't gonna shut up, oh no. So yeah, they climbed up to like a giant, like mech it looked like, and it looked like it was about to be like a fucking Gundam, mecha, megazord kind of thing, which makes sense, because the whole thing about these games is like, especially Shadow of the Colossus, being a very small person climbing on very large things. So that's what I was expecting, but it didn't seem like we were getting that Because they flew off of it at the last minute. But who knows? So look at that. You see that face on a body, that whole head. That's a spine. Maybe it's the fact that you can change and mix interchangeably, as long as the head is like the hub base, like Pacific Rim. That was cool. This threw everybody off, shocked everybody.
Speaker 1:Elden Ring spinoff Not a DLC, not a sequel. Ring spinoff Not a DLC, not a sequel, a spinoff, it's a multiplayer. Elden Ring co-op. It's coming next year. Yeah, it's wild Ascribed as a multiplayer co-op action, survival, a game where three players will work together on an ever-changing map to defeat a Night Lord, according to its press release.
Speaker 1:In other words, it's a lot like a roguelike with procedurally generated runs. So now these motherfuckers are doing souls-like, doing fucking souls-born, but now they're implementing roguelike elements into it. This motherfucker's crazy. So I've been, I've got some. I've never played a FromSoftware game. I've always been very apprehensive about getting into them. But I did get swept into the hype when Shadow of the Earth Tree came out and I bought Elder Ring. I just have not been able to dedicate the time needed to actually play through it. So I think a 2025 goal for me now is to become an Elden Lord. I think I finally have to do it. But it's kind of crazy because there's so much going on.
Speaker 1:Split Fiction that's Hazelight Studios the game, the ones who made A Way Out and it Takes Two. They specialize in these split screen co-op games and this is yet another one Diving into the worlds of fantasy and science, fantasy, sci-fi, so that looks fun. Witcher 4 First Reveal it's a big cinematic trailer which I'm very indifferent of, because you can't really tell much about a game from the cinematics, because it might look completely different once you get there. So I gotta see some actual gameplay and shit. And also, cd Projekt Red is infamous for taking a long time, so they literally revealed this and we might not be playing this bitch until fucking 2030. So there you go. But one thing that has been confirmed that we are playing with Ciri. Ciri is the main character. She's the witcher in this. Don't know if she's the sole main character, if we'll be splitting between her and Geralt or maybe somebody else, but it does seem like she is going to be the main antagonist in this, which I'm very happy for.
Speaker 1:I never played 1 or 2. I did play Wild Hunt 3, of course, like I feel most people probably did, and I really liked it. I enjoyed the hell out of it. I understood what all the hype was after that, but I will say, if my experiences with just two of these CD Projekt Red games are to be believed, wait until like. They're fantastic games, of course, but wait until the ultimate Game of the Year edition comes out or something, because I did hear that this launch was pretty rocket too, mostly for PC. But yeah, the DLCs I got with it Heart of Stone and Blood and Wine, phenomenal DLCs. So if I learn from this and from, especially from Cyberpunk 2077. Wait until, like, the ultimate game of the year or whatever edition comes out.
Speaker 1:You should get there, alright, do they have? I think there's an article that I had to click on to get to the winners the other winners at least. Let's click on this, see where it gets to. Alright, so we know, astro bought one game of the year. Loved it. A lot of people didn't. I love the fact that it won. I really did. All right, they fucking got them listed. No, they don't. It's fucking Polygon, let me the fuck down. All right, let's looking polygon, let me the fuck down. Right. This is looking game or winners, so I can go over. You know who actually fucking won shit. Alright, so we know. Actually, this one, we actually can start from the bottom. You know some of these we don't give a fuck about, like esports, vr racing, we don't care about.
Speaker 1:Okay, best performance was won by Melina Juergens from Hellblade 2, son of Sacrifice. Indie game was won by Bellatro. No surprise, there they were in Game of the Year running. Ashen Adventure was won by Astro Bot Community Support, baldur's Gate 3. I think the lead guy was also the one who introduced. I don't know if they've been doing that, but I hope they make this a running thing every year to year. The creative lead who led Larian for Baldur's Gate 3 was the one who introduced Ed Red for the Game of the Year winner this year. So I hope to have whoever won Game of the Year last year has a representative come to present the award the next year. I think that'd be pretty dope.
Speaker 1:Taken 8 won Best Fighting Game. Sorry, dragonball Sparking Zero fans. Astro Ball also took on Family Game. Hellblade 2 took Audio Design. No surprise, we don't care. Art Direction was won by Metaphor, as well as Role Playing Game was won by Metaphor. Black Myth won Action Game. No surprise, gta 6, most anticipated. Helldivers 2 took home Multiplayer Esports. We don't care. Metaphor also won for Narrative Team. Asobi won for game direction and studio. You know, shared with Sony Interactive Entertainment. Bellatro won independent game. Hail Divers won current ongoing game. What's the difference between ongoing game and community support? Actually, never mind. I was thinking this was what that is, because which one was won last year? Cyberpunk. Bellator also took home Mobile Game.
Speaker 1:Okay, so Player's Voice was won by Black Myth of Kong. Fallout won Best Adaption. And then we know, game of the Year was won by Astro Bot. So that was the Game Awards. I watched it. It was actually a very solid, really good show, good winners, good reveals, shouts out to Metaphor and Astro Bot, for damn their sweeping the damn awards. Honestly, actually, though, they did. I think they won every category they were nominated in, of course. The only time it didn't happen is when, of course, they were together for Game of the Year. I had to re-look at that, but yeah, they seem to have won the most there. No wins for Black Muth, who can't. So there you go. Alright, so that is it for our video game section. Goddamn YouTube, you just spoiled my surprises there.
Speaker 1:Alright, we, of course, we gotta finish things off with TV. That's cool. This is one of those things where, when I was writing scripts and I had to copy things from different sites and put them on a document in order to write them down, I would always have to skip shit like this, because I'm like is this worth having to copy down and paste it and read it off? So I figured now we'd actually be able to do this. So we have the Daytime Enemies why do I keep calling it Enemies? The Daytime Emmys? Why do I keep calling it Emmys, the Daytime Emmys and we have.
Speaker 1:This is fairly new because it's only the third annual Children's and Family Emmy nominees. This is dedicated to shows pretty much based around children. Anything under TV 14, I believe, is what is nominated within this show, tv 14 and under. So that's what we got here. So let's talk about them real quick. So for preschool series, we've got Blue's Clues and you, donkey Hody, little Lovely Farm and, of course, sesame Street. The big boss. Here I don't have kids, have not been around a kid since. Haven't been around a kid in any major amount of time since my damn younger sister, my baby sister, and she's like fucking 25 now.
Speaker 1:Alright, children or family viewing we got Frank Rock, jane Lafierza, desir, some French show, mallory Towers and Raven's Home. I know Raven's Home. I feel like these two are like this Fritz show and then this Mallory Towers. Just from the car and the title I feel like these are very hoity-toity shows. I get like Boardwalk Empire vibes just from these title cards.
Speaker 1:For Young Teen Series, we have Goosebumps, heartstopper, ooh, netflix's One Piece, ap Jackson and the Olympians and the Spiderwick Chronicles. For Fiction Special, we have Monster Hog 2, the Naughty Nine, disney's the Slumber Party, apple TV's the Velveteen Rabbit and Disney Plus World's Best. I've never heard of any of these. For non-official program. We have All-Around Champion, elmo and Tango, happy Helpers, kids Baking Championship, a Real Bug's Life and Stand Up and Shout songs. From a Philly high school Oop too far, a Philly high school Oop, too far For preschool animation the Frog and the Toad, interrupting Chicken, rosie's Rules, storybots, answer Time and the Tiny Chef Show.
Speaker 1:Children or Young Teen animated series. We have Curses, hilda, iwaju, kif and Marvel's, moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur, and then Summer Camp Island Animation special. We got Merry Little Batman, orion in the Dark, peter and the Wolf, snoopy Presents, one of a Kind Miracle, the Tiger's Apprentice and Tiny Chef Show. I remember Tiger's Apprentice. It will always fucking autoplay. I'm trying to just have Avatar play in the background and then fucking long-ass ad for that will play. Holy fuck, I did not realize how lengthy this is. How long is this? Holy shit, this is a lot. Okay, this is holy shit. I just kind of copy, I copy them down and then put them all here and be like we'll read it on here. So we ain't finna go through all this, so let's get to seeping through. Short form animation, interactive media Okay, public service initiative, lead performer in a preschool.
Speaker 1:We have Christian Did I say Christian fucking Slater? Christian Slater as Mulgurath in the Spiderwick Chronicles, ella Bright as Daryl Rivers in Mallory Tower, justin Long as Mr Brent in Goosebumps, lola Blue as Addie Darrow in A Kind of Spark and Raven Simone as Raven Baxter in Raven's Home For supporting in a preschool children or young series. We have Adam Coppola as Ares in Percy Jackson, amanda Lawrence as Martin Shipley in Mallory Towers, elizabeth Mitchell as Carol for the Santa Clauses, eric Stonestreet as Angus Antus, the Mad Santa in the Santa Clauses and post-humorous Lance Reddick as Zeus in Percy Claus and post-humorous Lance Reddick as Zeus in Percy Jackson and Sarah Rafferty as Catherine Walter in my Life with the Waterboys. For a younger performer, we have Alana High as Lele in that Girl, lele Lea. Savard Jeffries as Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson I don't have to say it, y'all can see it right here. Mikhail Mitchell-Harris as Alice Baxter, noah Contrail as Simon Grace and Phoenix LaRoche as William and then Piper Braun as Natasha Williams I got puppetry performance.
Speaker 1:Voice performer in a preschool. Bobby Moynihan ooh as Bobby Boots, cree Summer as Lizard and Didi, fred Tatteshore as a bunch of people in StoryBots Answer Time, kari Walgren as Granny Katarina, miss Ponytail and Magda and Kimiko Glenn as Baby Shark. I did not know. Kimiko, again, was doing voice acting. By the way, I didn't know they did so much children's animation. I guess I don't know why. I would think that's a weird thing. Of course a lot of voice actors would be doing children's animation, voice performer in a children's show. We got Brian Felden as Taylor Tussman, bob Burgundy as Porky Pig, eric Bowser as Daphne Duck and Bugs Bunny, paul Walter Hauser as Dark and William Shatner as Keldor.
Speaker 1:Masters of the Universe. Nice, writing for a young teen. Series um high school well, it's probably just one episode. But series um high school well, it's probably just one episode. But we got high school musical, the series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, heartstopper, goosebumps and the Spiderwick Chronicles. Writing for preschool we got Jessica's Little Big World, xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum, molly and Delaney story and then story bots and Tom has two episodes.
Speaker 1:Writing for oh shit, craig of the Creek. Writing for a children or young teen series my dad, the Bonnie Hunter, moon Girl and the Ever Dinosaur Craig of the Creek. I, I ain't gonna lie, I fucking love Craig of the Creek. I feel like it's a super underrated modern Cartoon Network series. It is fucking phenomenal.
Speaker 1:We got directing for a single camera, live action, multicam. Directing for a preschool. Animated directing for an animated series, voice directing for an animated series, music direction, music direction for composition, original songs, show open cinematography, editing editing for I don't know why. I never really thought that children shows and I know there was always daytime enemies. Well, like I said, this is new. It's only the third one, so it seems like they're doing their own thing for a show like this and they're probably having a whole separate thing for more of the higher TV show. So y'all get the thing. Y'all can check us out. Third annual Emmys for children and families. That's really cool. I don't know when the daytime Emmys are supposed to be. Did it happen already? We'll get there, yeah, coming in 2025. Y'all already know it's the end of the year, so award season is about to kick off in full swing. It's hot alright.
Speaker 1:So HBO's Steve Carell comedy series cast Charlie Clive as co-lead. I did not know this was a thing. So British actress Charlie Clive has landed thelead. I did not know this was a thing. So British actress Charlie Clive has landed the female lead opposite Steve Carell in HBO's untitled comedy series from Bill Lawrence, matt Taurus and WB. She's among half a dozen 30-something actresses who did a chemistry with Carell for the role. The single-camera comedy is set on a college campus centering on an author that's Carol, complicated relationship with his daughter, who's Clive. In addition to Carell, clive joins the previously classed, the previously cast, phil Dunster in the High Profile series. Hmm, the first of ten half-hour episodes have already been written by Lawrence Antarsis. Then we got Production WB. Of course.
Speaker 1:Clive is probably best known for her starring role in the Channel 4 series Pure and for being half of the Britney sketch duo with Ellen Robertson. Okay, since you got comedy shots, I'm not surprised. So I didn't know Steve Carell was getting a show on HBO. That's like the biggest thing about this for me was Steve Carell was getting an HBO show. So that's cool. I love Steve Carell so much From the Office to Anchorman 40-Year-Old Virgin the man's great. I need to see what's the movie where he Anchorman 40-year-old virgin the man's great. I need to see what's the movie where he had the more dramatic role the Wrestler with Channing Tatum. What the fuck is that movie called Steve Carell Fox Catcher that's what it was called. I need to see that because he had a more serious role in that one too. Alright, so Steve Carell comedy series and we got our new lead. I don't know anything about her. She's a British actress, so we'll see how it is. Alright.
Speaker 1:Next up, the Prison Break reboot has been confirmed, with decisions made on returning cast. The Prison Break reboot has reportedly been a decision been confirmed and a decision has said it had been made. The original show aired from 05 to 17 nominated and ran for 5 seasons for 90 episodes. It follows the story of a structural engineer, michael Schofield, who devises an elaborate plan to break his falsely accused brother, lincoln Burroughs, out of death row. I always wondered when I was younger how the hell did they make, how the hell did you get five seasons out of a show trying to break a man out of prison? I always thought that was so weird. Sarah Wayne Callis starred as Dr Sarah. I don't know. I don't know if Laurie was in this. Laurie, with Robert Kelper, plays complex inmate Theodore Teabag Begwell, after four seasons, returned in 2017 for a short revival and up until last year we hadn't heard much.
Speaker 1:Lead actor Miller said in 2020 he made it clear he would not be returning to the series but to exceed the possibility of queer kids visiting here recently out of the causal or sporting the idea. I don't want them exposed to bullshit. What, what? What are we talking about there? I'm not convinced of myself. I can't be bullied in this space. I have too much power Delete, block, deactivate, etc. He wrote on Instagram what the hell are we talking about? Was he gay in the show or something? I don't know? I feel like this quote is so weird. So he says I'm out of Prison Break officially.
Speaker 1:However, entertainment Weekly reported last year that the reboot was officially in the works at Hulu, and now Variety has a sad update on the cast. The outlet reports that the new storyline will exist in the same universe as the original Prison Break series, alongside producers Don Olsted, original creator Schurning and okay, whatever Mixed response from fans online. That's no surprise. Yeah, so none of the original cast is coming back. They are going to just reboot it with a brand new cast and a new story. How about if you just thought for a new show that this show be remembered as one of the greatest ever? I couldn't bring myself to watch the last season. Season one was good, but the rest was a waste of our time and money. Hopefully a reboot will do better. So we got Prison Break coming back.
Speaker 1:Anybody afraid of Prison Break? You happy that they're sort of moving past the brothers here or are you sad that he won't be coming back? Also, didn't he have like the flans tattooed on his body secretly or something? Or the blueprints of the building was tattooed on his body, I don't know. I never watched Prison Break. Alright, last story for TV here. Now we do gotta wrap up because my Bucks are about to play pretty damn soon. So I need you to load here A new story. Alright, saturday Night Live. Y'all know I'm a Saturday Night Live fan A fiend, if you will.

Speaker 1:One of my main goals was actually to be on this show, either as a talent or as a writer. I feel like we might be past that so, but I'm still high, I'm still excited. Uh, what do we got here? Uh, the episodes are as follows God damn it. Uh, written by. I'll be beside the writer's room. Ooh, I already liked that. Uh, father's a process of beginning a schedule. The Pays to the Live show on Saturday More Cowbell, a deep dive, directed by Berkley, into the making of the classic sketch from the 2000s. Yeah, that is timeless. I had a fever and the only prescription is more Cowbell. We got Will Ferrell, chris Parnell, jimmy Fallon, horatio Sanz and Chris Cattata, who all were involved in that sketch.
Speaker 1:Season 11, the Weird Year explores the 85-86 season, which marked Lorne Michaels' return to the show after five years away, but proved to be exceptionally rocky on screen, or rocky went on screen. Interested in that one? Oh, that didn't say four. I'm like what the fuck is this? Oh, ha, ha ha ha. It's set to premiere one month before NBC's primetime celebration of the show, so it's gonna come in January. Pause, uh, yeah, so I'm excited about this.
Speaker 1:I love Saturday Night Live. I excited about it. I have not watched it in quite some time. Uh, I know, covid kinda messed some things up with it and I think that's around the time. I haven't really jumped back in since COVID was done and a bunch of cast members left. That I'm always sad to see. But I'm excited for this. I'm excited about the 50th anniversary of it that I gotta remember to watch when it comes on. So, alright, so that is the end of our TV section and with that, of course, that is the end of our TV section and with that, of course, that is the end of our news.
